Payment Data Systems Inc., an integrated payment services provider based in San Antonio, Texas, has launched a new mobile payment application for Apple’s iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices called iRemotePay. The application turns the user’s phone into a secure and mobile point-of-sale terminal.
By downloading the application and using a small card reader, merchants can accept credit cards, ACH payments and cash using only their phone or Apple device. The application utilizes the user’s mobile network or WiFi connection to process the payments.
Officials at Payment Data Systems tout the application as a benefit to workers on-the-go, such as plumbers, repairmen and electricians. The application can also make payments easier for businesses that need to accept payments off-site, at special events or while traveling.
In addition to payment processing, iRemotePay also offers users other features, including phone and web-based transaction reporting and back office support. The application is currently available as a free download in the Apple iTunes store.
