Due to a claim of heavy demand from current users, PayPal has launched a dedicated Point-of-Sale (POS) app for the iPad. The new app is a modification of the PayPal’s Android and iPhone mobile credit card processing app, dubbed “PayPal Here,” and includes new features designed to meet counter top processing needs.
Like its Android and iPhone counterpart, the new iPad app allows merchants to accept PayPal payments as well as credit card payments by either swiping the card through a card reader that plugs into the audio jack, or typing the information into application. Additional features include accepting payments by taking a photo of the card, bar code scanning, cash drawer management, check acceptance, inventory management, wireless receipt printing, and multi-user login access. The iPad app also comes loaded with reporting features including tracking for daily sales, discounts, tips, and sales tax.
Although the new app is in competition with similar services such as Square Register, PayPal has announced that it will be integrating the technology with other POS systems such as Shopkeep, NCR, Vend, Erply and others.
