Under 5 Complaints

International Bancard Corporation is no longer an accredited business of the Better Business Bureau, though it was previously been accredited since 2008, and currently maintains a “C” rating. As of this review, there are 4 complaints filed against the company. 3 of the complaints were successfully resolved to the satisfaction of the merchant. The remaining 1 complaint was either resolved to the dissatisfaction of the merchant or received no final response.

What Merchants Say

In addition to the 4 complaints posted to the company’s BBB profile, International Bancard Corporation has also received 2 informal reviews. 1 of these reviews is positive in tone while the remaining 1 is negative. The most recent review cites frustration with unexpected charges and poor customer service:

THY STEALING MY MONEY FOR OVER 14 MONTHS CHARGING FOUR TIMES A MONTH $22.95X 2 AND 34.95X 2 AND WHEN I CONTACT THEM THEY SAYING GONNA CALL ME BACK DIFFANT RELEASES NO SOLUTIONS FRAUD CHARGING WITH NO SERVICE PROVIDING

In cases like this, merchants would benefit from understanding how to cancel an account without paying a fee.

An “A” Performance

International Bancard Fees, Rates & Costs

Equipment Leasing Yes

Three-Year Contract

According to the International Bancard terms and conditions, the company offers a three-year agreement that automatically renews for successive one-year terms and includes an early termination fee of either $599 or the maximum amount permitted by state law, whichever is lesser. The document we have provided does not mention any other International Bancard fees such as PCI compliance fees or monthly minimums, but these fees will likely apply to most businesses. The company’s reliance on outside sales agents means that some terms and fees in a given contract could be negotiable.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

In addition to its storefront payment processing services, International Bancard also dedicates a portion of its website to advertising its virtual terminal and payment gateway. However, pricing is not disclosed on either of those services. Additional International Bancard rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.

More Expensive Than Average

International Bancard’s early termination fee is much larger than the industry average, which is the primary factor preventing it from competing with the cheapest merchant accounts available. We also encourage business owners to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant accounts.

Inside/Outside Sales Team

International Bancard appears to utilize telemarketing and independent sales agents in addition to its inside sales team. Outside sales agents sometimes generate complaints due to a lack of training and supervision, and we have found a few International Bancard reviews that mention the company’s sales team. Two International Bancard complaints posted in the comments section of this review report an undisclosed early termination fee of $600 associated with the company’s standard equipment lease, which is a higher-than-average amount. There are also a few International Bancard complaints filed on other consumer protection websites that mention similar nondisclosure of fees, as well as complaints related to rude telemarketing and in-person tactics. This does not compare favorably to our list of best credit card processors. These complaints have been posted with enough consistency to lower the company’s score to a “B.”

No Deceptive Quotes

To its credit, International Bancard does not list any misleading rate quotes or unrealistic guarantees in its official materials. If you suspect that you are being overcharged by International Bancard, you can find hidden fees in your statement with a third-party statement audit.

Our International Bancard Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

International Bancard rates as an above-average credit card processing provider according to our criteria. The company appears to provide ample customer service and agent oversight, resulting in a low complaint rate. However, its early termination fee is much higher than the industry standard. It’s also worth noting that businesses might accidentally search for this company using the incorrect spelling “International Bank Card.” If you are considering International Bancard, be sure to compare its pricing to that offered by the top-rated overall merchant accounts.

  • 2 things. They have mis-charges. They charged me extra fees that they weren’t supposed to. When I called to get an explanation they continued to promise to call back, but never did. They did finally resolve the charge but never did call back or give an explanation.

Second, they did not fully explain PCI compliance. I had no idea what this was or that I would be charged for it. They did not include this charge on my statement so I didn’t catch the charge for months as it was being taken out of my bank account and I started to realize it wasn’t matching my statement from them. I called to get this resolved and it took several hours on the phone as they had me registered as the wrong kind of business. I am honestly not sure if I still did things correctly or I even needed to do this for my business as I don’t handle the credit cards, it’s all through a 3rd party app. I lost hundreds of dollars over this and my business is so small I only make a few thousand dollars in a year.

  • No one will respond to cancel my account. Person who signed me up “Gus” excellent response rate but when trying to cancel critics chirping. No response with customer service either on simply even answering how to go about it. Beware DO NOT sign up with them. Also they have a three year contract and fee to cancel. Mine does not because i asked But read the fine print.

When signing on with International Bancard I was promised I would not be charged a fee for low activity. I was billed $12.09 last month for having minimum activity.

International Bancard is a great company to work with. They are always attentive to my needs and provide excellent customer service.

    • Hello,

Please reply to this comment with your business name and location in order to authenticate your testimonial. Thanks!

  • Deceptive practices! DO NOT SIGN contract unless you ask for the entire 12 pages. You are only offered 3 of which you read and sign and there are actually another 9. You are signing a contract for 3 years, with a outrageous $599 early cancellation fee. You also must notify them that you intend to cancel BEFORE 60 days BEFORE the end of your contract or it rolls over into another year, and you STILL have a $599 early cancellation fee. They can also raise fees anytime they want.

They can only be deceptive to make any sane person sign this contract. They have taken advantage of our whole salon who are all independent (6 contracts all with same terms – 2 are single parents).

It seems so unnecessary to have to trick and trap costumers when all you have to do is offer normal merchant credit card processing.

Hope to help someone else not be duped.

BEWARE!!! They can get you up and running in no time. But when you cancel the service its another story. They will make you jump hoops and delay, delay, delay. Evidently, there is only one person in this company who can cancel your account. She has never been available when we have called. Read your contract carefully! We were with them for over 5 years and they still say we owe an early termination fee? Terrible company to do business with.

  • Jerod Kiger

We used international bancard and had satisfactory service until our service contract was coming to an end. We contacted the company to see how to make sure our service was not automatically renewed at the end of our contract. Instead of contacting us and telling us how to do this, they shut off our service early and hit us with a $600 cancellation fee. After getting this problem somewhat fixed (they turned our service back on, refunded us $300 and told us they would refund the other $300 at the end of our contract) we followed the directions they gave us to make sure our contract was not renewed. This involved sending them a fax, which they claimed they did not receive. They renewed our contract against our wishes and we have been fighting them ever since. We will get someone to call us back once, we explain the problem to them and they say they will call back soon and they never do. This has been going on for 4 months. Either this company is horribly stupid, or this is their standard way of doing business. Avoid them at all costs!
