Negative Feedback

Charged $169 fee that I was not informed about. When I called they stated they put a notice of the fee on the August statement—nope, not a single notice in the August, September, or October statement. The representative said it was for infrastructure and upgrades but could not answer other questions. She stated she was trying to get an answer and she would be sending out an email when she did. Don’t use this company! They charged this fee to 3 other business owners I know use them and they all confirmed they were also never notified by Bancard. – Review from Kathy S, November 2, 2023

PissedConsumer Rating Analysis for International Bancard

International Bancard has a 2.6-star rating on PissedConsumer, based on 3 customer reviews. The reviews reflect a mix of neutral and unfavorable opinions. Common themes in these reviews include dissatisfaction with customer service and issues related to contract terms and fees.

Negative Feedback

Ripped off by International Bancard. As another reviewer wrote, the exact same thing happened with early termination fee of $599.00 deducted. The original contract was 2011 so how that is early I don’t know. This business was bought from old owner, she had no idea that there was an early cancellation fee or that the contract renewed on its own. The company continued to take $62.90 each month in fees for nothing, there were no transactions to process. They collected over $600 for doing absolutely nothing and another $599.00. This is a small company in a small town. I think the sales people do not disclose this on purpose. Very deceptive! – Review from Cailen Aii, January 31, 2018

BEWARE!!! They can get you up and running in no time. But when you cancel the service its another story. They will make you jump hoops and delay, delay, delay. Evidently, there is only one person in this company who can cancel your account. She has never been available when we have called. Our business has now been without credit card processing for over 2 weeks and we have still gotten nowhere. What a nightmare. It all started when our terminal broke. When we called to report they said we need to purchase a new one, then they deny saying that after we found another service. The personnel are rude and unprofessional when you call. Read your contract carefully! We were with them for over 5 years and they still say we owe an early termination fee? Terrible company to do business with. – Review from Anonymous, November 6, 2015

International Bancard Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Cancellation Penalties Yes
Monthly & Annual Fees Likely
Processing Rates 1.00% - 4.99%
Equipment Leasing Yes

Three-Year Contract

As outlined in the International Bancard terms and conditions, the company typically offers a three-year agreement with automatic renewal for successive one-year terms. This contract includes an early termination fee of either $599 or the maximum amount allowed by state law, whichever is less. While the provided document doesn’t specify additional fees like PCI compliance fees or monthly minimums, these charges are common in the industry. Given that International Bancard relies on external sales agents, some contract terms and fees may be negotiable.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

Alongside its in-store payment processing services, International Bancard advertises its virtual terminal and payment gateway services on its website without disclosing pricing. Typically, additional fees such as gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates apply to these e-commerce services.

More Expensive Than Average

International Bancard’s early termination fee surpasses the industry average, making it less competitive among the available cheapest merchant accounts. We recommend business owners also consider our list of the best merchant accounts for alternative options.

Inside/Outside Sales Team

International Bancard appears to utilize telemarketing and independent sales agents in addition to its inside sales team. Outside sales agents sometimes generate complaints due to a lack of training and supervision, and we have found a few International Bancard reviews that mention the company’s sales team. Two International Bancard complaints posted in the comments section of this review report an undisclosed early termination fee of $600 associated with the company’s standard equipment lease, which is a higher-than-average amount. There are also a few International Bancard complaints filed on other consumer protection websites that mention similar nondisclosure of fees, as well as complaints related to rude telemarketing and in-person tactics. This does not compare favorably to our list of best credit card processors. These complaints have been posted with enough consistency to lower the company’s score to a “B.”

No Deceptive Quotes

To its credit, International Bancard does not list any misleading rate quotes or unrealistic guarantees in its official materials. If you suspect that you are being overcharged by International Bancard, you can find hidden fees in your statement with a third-party statement audit.

Our International Bancard Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

International Bancard stands out as an above-average credit card processing provider. The company’s strong focus on customer service and agent oversight is evident in its impressively low complaint rate. Clients commend the support they receive, suggesting a commitment to transparent and responsive service delivery. These efforts position International Bancard favorably among payment processors.

Despite these strengths, the early termination fee remains a significant drawback, as it far exceeds the industry standard, potentially limiting the flexibility for businesses to switch providers without incurring substantial costs. It’s important to note that prospective clients searching for “International Bank Card” may inadvertently miss the company due to this common misspelling. If you’re considering International Bancard, it’s wise to weigh its offerings against those of the highest-rated merchant accounts, especially in terms of pricing and contract terms. By conducting a thorough comparison, businesses can ensure they secure the best possible deal for their needs while understanding the potential penalties involved.

UPDATE: I was able to speak with someone at Intertional Bancard and they re-evaluated my appeal and they issued the updated. So, I can appreciate that they worked on making this situation right.

We were forced to use International Bancard through a software provider, Phorest. When Phorest switched processors to Stripe in October 2023 International Bancard continued to charge us $19.95/month for one service that wasn’t used and $16.90 for another service that wasn’t used. In total we were charged $223.58. When we called them they investigated and verbalized that there would be an refund. However, when we didn’t see a refund, we called back and management apparently denied the request. I would estimate this company made $10,000+ in service charges and credit card processing fees over the several years we were a customer. And then to get greedy over $223.58 is a pretty wild. I’ve never had a customer support experience that after-the-fact denied a request. Pretty uncommon (and shady) business practice.

2 things. They have mis-charges. They charged me extra fees that they weren’t supposed to. When I called to get an explanation they continued to promise to call back, but never did. They did finally resolve the charge but never did call back or give an explanation.

Second, they did not fully explain PCI compliance. I had no idea what this was or that I would be charged for it. They did not include this charge on my statement so I didn’t catch the charge for months as it was being taken out of my bank account and I started to realize it wasn’t matching my statement from them. I called to get this resolved and it took several hours on the phone as they had me registered as the wrong kind of business. I am honestly not sure if I still did things correctly or I even needed to do this for my business as I don’t handle the credit cards, it’s all through a 3rd party app. I lost hundreds of dollars over this and my business is so small I only make a few thousand dollars in a year.

No one will respond to cancel my account. Person who signed me up “Gus” excellent response rate but when trying to cancel critics chirping. No response with customer service either on simply even answering how to go about it. Beware DO NOT sign up with them. Also they have a three year contract and fee to cancel. Mine does not because i asked But read the fine print.

Deceptive practices! DO NOT SIGN contract unless you ask for the entire 12 pages. You are only offered 3 of which you read and sign and there are actually another 9. You are signing a contract for 3 years, with a outrageous $599 early cancellation fee. You also must notify them that you intend to cancel BEFORE 60 days BEFORE the end of your contract or it rolls over into another year, and you STILL have a $599 early cancellation fee. They can also raise fees anytime they want.

They can only be deceptive to make any sane person sign this contract. They have taken advantage of our whole salon who are all independent (6 contracts all with same terms – 2 are single parents).

It seems so unnecessary to have to trick and trap costumers when all you have to do is offer normal merchant credit card processing.

Hope to help someone else not be duped.

We used international bancard and had satisfactory service until our service contract was coming to an end. We contacted the company to see how to make sure our service was not automatically renewed at the end of our contract. Instead of contacting us and telling us how to do this, they shut off our service early and hit us with a $600 cancellation fee. After getting this problem somewhat fixed (they turned our service back on, refunded us $300 and told us they would refund the other $300 at the end of our contract) we followed the directions they gave us to make sure our contract was not renewed. This involved sending them a fax, which they claimed they did not receive. They renewed our contract against our wishes and we have been fighting them ever since. We will get someone to call us back once, we explain the problem to them and they say they will call back soon and they never do. This has been going on for 4 months. Either this company is horribly stupid, or this is their standard way of doing business. Avoid them at all costs!
