MiCamp Solutions Rates, Fees, and Costs

Key Points

Keyed-in Rate Interchange-Plus
Virtual Terminal Rate 1.00% - 4.99%
Payment Gateway Fee Undisclosed
Minimum Monthly Fee $20
Statement Fee $10 Per Month
Early Termination Fee Up to $400
PCI Compliance Fee $99 Per Year
Equipment Lease Terms 48 Month (locked)

Multi-Year Contract

The standard MiCamp  Solution Contract is a multiyear agreement through First Data with an annual PCI compliance fee of $99, a monthly minimum fee of $20, and a monthly statement fee of $10. We have seen complaints from merchants that mention an early termination fee ranging from $250 to $400, but a company representative has informed us that MiCamp only enforces a cancellation fee when it pays a merchant’s termination fee with a previous provider or when it offers free equipment upon signup. The same representative has stated that over 85% of MiCamp’s merchants are on interchange-plus pricing.

The company’s merchant agreement also details and equipment lease through First Data Global Leasing. The terms of these lease agreements result in payments that exceed the value of equipment resulting in merchants paying $1,000 or more for terminals that can be purchased for $500 or less.

WAVIt Fixed Fee Pricing

Alternatively, merchants can choose to enroll in WAVit. This pricing model allows merchants to charge a fixed rate to instore, online, and card-not-present transactions. The fixed rate is determined by an analysis of the company’s monthly sales volumes, among other factors. This plan includes a five-year fixed rate guarantee that ensures the consistency of rates each month. MiCamp Solutions’ website states that this pricing model is available to merchants charing anywhere from $5,000 to $5 million a month.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

In addition to its storefront payment processing services, MiCamp Processing also dedicates a portion of its website that advertises its virtual terminal and payment gateway services. However, pricing on either of those services is not disclosed. Additional rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.

Industry-Average Pricing

Overall, we have found a low-to-moderate complaint volume about MiCamp’s contract terms, specifically with regard to unexpected fees. This suggests a middle-of-the-road performance, especially compared to the most budget-friendly merchant accounts in the industry.

MiCamp Solutions BBB Rating Summary

Key Points - BBB

Product & Service Complaints 3
Billing & Collection Complaints 1
Advertising & Sales Complaints 0
Guarantee & Warranty Complaints 0
Delivery Complaints 0

Under 5 Complaints

MiCamp Solutions currently maintains an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and has been accredited since 2010. The company is showing 4 complaints filed in the past 36 months. 1 complaint was left due to a billing and collection issue and 3 have to do with problems with a product or service. MiCamp has successfully resolved 3 of these complaints. The remaining complaint was answered by the company but did not receive a response from the merchant.

What Merchants Say

MiCamp also has a total of 14 informal reviews filed with the BBB, with 12 of them positive and just 2 that are negative. The most recent negative review describes unauthorized withdrawals:

Careful if you ever change your merchant services to another company, as they will continue to take their monthly fees out of your account, even if you haven’t used them in months. Then they claim that a contract was signed but when asked to reproduce that document they go silent. Now they claim that in order for them to stop charging us $72 a month we have to pay $1800 in cancellation fees. The customer service people sound like they are working out of their garage and can’t seem to answer any relevant questions.

Merchants who find themselves in this situation may obtain some relief by taking steps to cancel their account without paying a fee.

An “A” Performance

In light of the company’s low complaint total and resolution ratio, we agree with the BBB’s rating of an “A.”

Truth In Marketing & Advertising

Key Points

Employs Independent Resellers Yes
Advertises Deceptive Rates No
Discloses All Important Terms No

Inside/Outside Sales Team

MiCamp Solutions appears to utilize telemarketing, inside sales reps, strategic partnerships, referral partnerships, and independent sales offices to market its services. A company representative has stated that MiCamp is currently working to grow its inside sales channels in order to have more control over sales tactics and pricing. Despite this, we have located a moderate number of MiCamp Solutions negative reviews that cite nondisclosure and misrepresentation of rates and fees by the company’s telephone and in-person sales reps.

No Deceptive Quotes

MiCamp’s complaint total has slightly lowered its rating to a “B” in this category. To its credit, however, the company does not appear to engage in deceptive rate quoting in its official materials. If you suspect that MiCamp has added a hidden markup to your monthly statement, you can double-check it with a third-party statement audit.

Why I'm Qualified to Write About Credit Card Processing and Merchant Account Services

I'm a former credit card processing sales director who left the industry because I didn't like how it takes advantage of small business owners. It feeds like a leech on businesses and thrives by imposing fees that are nearly impossible to comprehend. Seeing a need for change, I left and built this website help business owners better understand the industry, research merchant services providers, and get refunds of excessive merchant account fees. My experience of working "behind the curtain" in the industry, and using that knowledge for good, has resulted in millions of dollars returned to hard-working small business owners as well as enterprise-level companies.

From the time that I starting working in the merchant services industry to when I left to create this website, I've been on the pulse of payments for nearly 15 years. It didn't seem fair to keep this "insider" knowledge to myself. To lift the fog, I've reviewed hundreds of companies, read thousands of user reviews, and learned the pricing tricks of every provider. If you have questions about credit card processing, you can find the answers on this website.

How I Can Help You

I specialize in helping businesses get refunds of excessive fees and have recovered $1,567,184 this year alone! Submit a recent statement below to find out if you are getting overcharged. I'll take a look at it for free. If I find fees that can be refunded, hire me on contigency. I only get compensated if I put money back into your pocket.

This business is a scam! Please do your research before handing your private info over to them. They will rob you blind. Calling them to rectify the issue will satisfy you long enough for them to help themselves to your bank account, again. In over 2 months the problem isn’t solved and I made at least 6 phone calls only to be pacified to wait 48 hours to see results on my account which never happened.

  2. JOSE NIETO says:

After I explain to Ms. Lisa Jenskins, from Micamp Solutions all my situation including the sneaked non- cancelable lease document signed from me, she ask my permission to do some investigations. I was in so big stress, that I have to go Hospital emergency room with a very low pulse (35-39), they have to put it me a page maker and release me after four days. At home, I checked my e-mails and saw one from Ms. Jenskins with a cancelation of my account with My Camp Solutions and a F.D. Return shipping for the mini clover equipment , saying that it appears my lease is being cancelled. As for reimbursement of monies paid. I was so happy, but not for to long. Now, they have the equipment, but never cancel the NLS lease, so now, I’m back to the same stress situation with the NLS lease that is trying to collect the amount of the lease of $145.86 for 48 months. IT IS NOT FAIR TO ENFORCE THE CONTRACT WHEN THEIR PRACTICES TO GET ME TO SIGN THE CONTRACT WERE DISHONEST.

I opened a new account with MiCamp this year but will not credit our account, as far as I am concerned they have stolen $75,000.00 from my company. I cannot get anyone to call me. We opened a new merchant account this February. Everything was fine at first, we got a few deposits, no problems. That’s why they got us, they stopped abruptly on 5/13 and we were unable to refund customers which caused chargebacks and they had the nerve to hold all of our money!!! Our merchant ID is 536927230402091, we are also referred to as ‘The Merchant’ constantly, or by our merchant ID, all of which is dehumanizing and very rude. It has been over six months and they won’t release our money that is being held.

Mandi our Merchant Services Rep nor Micamp They won’t tell us how much they are holding, they refuse to provide any visibility into what they are doing with our money and they have had so many people that I have lost count interject in email threads at MiCamp, nobody tells us anything!!!!!! I have been trying to resolve this issue now for many months and they ignore every email sent and our ISO Micamp Merchant Services claims First Data Merchant Services is the only organization that has any control over this account. They are messing with my money, which I have not sent over 50 times and still cannot get someone to call me back, it is outrageous. Today is 9/15, we are speaking with our lawyer tomorrow afternoon. This company is a den of thieves. I’m going to go to the media, CNN, FOX NEWS, ABC, all of the places., also on social media and I hope MICAMP and First Data are out of business soon enough.

I want my money and I want the deposits made as the contract states and I need that done NOW!!!!!!!!

  4. Kelly Engelhardt says:

I have found them to be very unprofessional the insist on trying to charge fees for services I have not been receiving in months. They do not tell you this when you first speak to them. They are very deceptive in their customer service and the people who handle the contracting are always busy and inaccessible. I would characterize them as scammers.

  5. Brendan says:

BEWARE!! As a new business I was originally called by these people saying that they could help me accept cards through on of their subsidiaries MiCamp. We agreed to a set amount each month plus the percentage from the cards that I processed. I told them I was a new business and that I didn’t process cards but rarely if at all. However they said it would only be $5 per month and then the percentages. I figured this wasn’t so bad until they kept taking $30 out of my account every month. I finally had to put a stop payment on my account in order to keep them from withdrawing from my bank account. Months later I got a letter in the mail saying I owed them eight hundred and some change. I gave them a call and Mary Betzold was busy so they said she would give me a call back. I agreed and next thing I knew I never got a call back except from a collection agency. I would’ve been happy to settle up with them but they didn’t give me a call back for some time and then sent me strait to collections. All for a company that I never used. I feel tricked but it sounds like they do it a lot to all the small business guys. TONS OF HIDDEN FEES… I would steer wayy clear of this company.

    1. Steve says:

I get a monthly fee of about average $21 a month along with another variable fee per month average around $200. I also get charged directly from some of the payments/ credits to my account. The fees are so vague to me. I was told I’d be charged a monthly fee of 14 to 20 dollars each month that is the only steady fee and a consistent one. I hate the way I’ve been getting charged by this company. One month I received 2 debits as a fee totaling over $500 dollars. I’d also steer clear of MiCamp.
I’ll post a review of the customer service call to see if they can clearly explain the fees.
