How did they treat you? ▼

UPDATE 2/12/19: The National Paymentech website is currently inactive, and it appears that the company may no longer be a functioning merchant account provider. There is some evidence that Andrei Wirth is now operating a business consulting firm specializing in merchant services called Sky Group LLC. If you have any information about National Paymentech's current status (including any DBAs or rebrandings), please share it in the comment section below this review.

Registered as an LLC in June 2015, National Paymentech (nationalpaymentech.com) is a merchant account provider based in Portland, Oregon. National Paymentech is managed by a former employee of Securus Payments named Andrei Wirth, who is listed on LinkedIn as having served as the National Sales Director for Securus Payments from 2011 to June 2015. Joe Mason is listed as the president of National Paymentech. A representative of Securus Payments has stated in the comment section of this review that there is no affiliation whatsoever between Securus Payments and National Paymentech, but the representative did acknowledge that Andrei Wirth is a former Securus employee.

National Paymentech previously shared an address with a company called Riverside Payments at 9600 NE Cascades Parkway, Suite 220, Portland, Oregon 97220. On October 20, 2015, we were contacted by Mark Sampath, an attorney who serves as corporate counsel for National Paymentech, regarding the contents of this review. Mr. Sampath's name and his office's mailing address also appear on Riverside Payments's filing with the Oregon Business Registry. This indicates that National Paymentech and Riverside Payments may currently be represented by, or may previously have been represented by, the same law office.

Securus Payments (dba Excel Corporation) was previously affiliated with another Portland-based company called Mom & Pop Merchant Solutions, but a representative of National Paymentech has stated that National Paymentech has no affiliation with Mom & Pop Merchant Solutions.

As a final note, the president and CFO of Riverside Payments are former employees of a company called Expect Payment Solutions, but the owner of Expect Payment Solutions has stated in the comment section below this review that the two companies do not actively collaborate at this time.

Overall, we are unable to determine at this time whether and to what degree National Paymentech is related to Securus Payments, Riverside Payments, and Expect Payment Solutions, but the available evidence suggests that some connections exist. National Paymentech does not list an acquiring bank, but Securus Payments is a registered ISO/MSP of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, California.

National Paymentech Customer Reviews

Here's What Their Clients Say

Customer Reviews Summary
Total Online Complaints 10+
Live Customer Support Yes
Most Common Complaint N/A

We are currently able to locate just over a dozen total negative National Paymentech reviews, some of which accuse the company of being a scam or a ripoff. Commonly cited issues among complainants include misleading rate quotes, expensive equipment leases, and unreachable customer service. These complaints are very similar to the typical complaints that are filed against Securus Payments and Riverside Payments. For the amount of time that National Paymentech has been operating, this is a moderate number of complaints, but the complainants all paint a consistent picture of less-than-adequate service. We have therefore assigned the company a “C” rating in this category for now. National Paymentech offers phone and email support contact information on its website, but some complainants have stated that these channels are not especially responsive or helpful.

National Paymentech Online Ratings

Here's How They Rate Online

The Better Business Bureau does not maintain a profile for National Paymentech at this time, although there are BBB profiles for Securus Payments and Riverside Payments. Securus currently has no rating with the BBB based on 143 complaints in the past three years, while Riverside Payments has an “A-” based on 13 complaints. Although National Paymentech appears to share former personnel with Securus and an address with Riverside, we will not factor a BBB rating into the company’s grade at this time.

National Paymentech Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Swiped Rate Variable
Keyed-in Rate Variable
Early Termination Fee Variable
PCI Compliance Fee Variable
Equipment Lease Terms 48 Months, Non-Cancellable

National Paymentech does not provide its contract to the general public, so we have primarily searched merchant complaints for details about its pricing and fees. Given the company’s apparent personnel connections to Securus, it’s possible that National Paymentech’s contract terms are very similar to Securus’s standard contract terms. Securus’s basic contract appears to be a three-year agreement through First Data with an early termination fee of $495 and other miscellaneous fees, including a monthly minimum of $20, a $159 annual PCI compliance fee, and a variable monthly statement fee. Multiple National Paymentech complaints also claim that the company sells expensive, long-term equipment leases through First Data Global Leasing or Northern Leasing Systems. One merchant reported an equipment lease cost of $200 per month for 48 months, which would result in payments totaling almost $10,000 over the life of the lease. Most credit card processing equipment can be purchased for less than $500. Merchants are strongly advised to purchase equipment rather than lease it whenever possible.

Considering the regular complaints of higher-than-expected rates and expensive equipment leases, we are currently assigning National Paymentech a “C” in this section. If you have any knowledge of the standard National Payment contract, please share that information in the comment section below this review.

National Paymentech Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Jobs & Marketing Summary
Employs Independent Resellers Yes
Advertises Deceptive Rates Yes
Discloses All Important Terms No

National Paymentech appears to primarily market its services through a combination of telemarketing and independent sales representatives. The company was founded by the National Sales Director of Securus Payments, which makes it likely that its sales tactics will be similar to those utilized by Securus. In fact, we have located nearly a dozen complaints (including an entire news story) that accuse the company of misrepresenting potential savings to merchants and selling long-term, non-cancellable equipment leases that cost up to $200 per month. The details of these complaints are consistent with the more than 50 complaints we have received about Securus Payments since we first published that review.

Given the contents of these complaints and their collective resemblance to complaints filed against Securus Payments, Riverside Payments, and Chyp, we are assigning National Paymentech a “C” in this category for the time being.

Our National Paymentech Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

National Paymentech currently rates as an average merchant services provider according to our rating criteria. The company has amassed over a dozen public complaints in under two years of operation and appears to have a number of former ties to poorly rated providers. Merchants are encouraged to read and understand all contract terms, including equipment lease terms, before signing up for a merchant account.

It’s all true. The self proclaimed “evil empire” Andrei Wirth & Joe Mason are scammers. And newly separated from the group, Brandon Skinner. Maybe Skinner got scared that the FTC or the AG is going to catch on to them and he exited stage left…Not sure but, the damage was still done. Look out for these self proclaimed “CEOs” and “Presidents” at National Paymentech aka Alliance Investment Group aka United Alliance Invests aka Sky. Who along with their business are also doing the dirty work for Northern Leasing aka Executech. Northern Leasing has been taken on by the NY Attorney Generals office twice for scamming people. Wirth & Mason completely BAIT & SWITCH. Completely sell reasonable business deals on paper for merchant processing and then neglect to add any of it into the contract, do not follow through with what was sold and leave pages out come signing time so you have no idea their true intentions. Once you find out that everything that was discussed and presented on paper is actually NOT occurring, it’s too late. Your fees are jacked, you’ve got bogus equipment leases with bad equipment, non cancellable leases with companies who have F ratings with the BBB whom you didn’t even know you were signing with b/c pages were left out during signing. You’ll get the run around for months as Andrei Wirth & Joe Mason business emails and numbers and company names switch. Never actually getting a manager or these CEOs on the line for resolution of their scam. BBB, FTC, AG please take these guys down!!

Horrible, stay away! I really think this is one person with a full time job somewhere else. No one will ever answer the phone. You will get a call back after leaving several messages. The emergency support number on their vm message is NOT able to help, they will tell you that based on your account number they do not provide support. We received equipment that was not programmed correctly, twice. We were charged fees higher than our contract stated, money has been held for several days – not deposited next day as agreed. Fees were charged on each transaction, not monthly as agreed. This is the worst company I have ever done business with. STAY AWAY THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND EXPENSIVE.

This is by far the worst company in the USA for processing payments. Joe Mason president is a devious little liar who pampers himself behind the phone of a posh office and lies and cheats people all day long. Andrew wirth is the CEO and he is worst then Joe. Andrew used to work for securus and even they thought he was too slimy and lied too much. This company is full of fraud and their website even says they will save you 75% which is a total lie. They do large leases and terrible programs that never save anyone money. They will continue to steal and cheat until the FTC shakes them up

Owner of an auto repair shop – I was mislead by a sales rep from National Paymentech – they gave me fancy numbers and didn’t tell me I was leasing the equipment at $200 per month. The paperwork was filled out after the representative left my shop and I thought I was going to lower my cost by 1% – $300 per month. When I received my first statement, I was leasing the equipment at $200 and my payments went up by 1.5% – I was paying 3.5% – total ripoff. Don’t do business with this company

National Paymentech is in no way associated or doing business with Securus Payments. National Paymentech is located downtown Portland and does business nationwide helping merchants update their existing payment programs and cutting cost on overall rates and fees. All programs include a guarantee of savings, meet or beat guarantee and an outline of any additional program options and perks in writing. We pride ourselves on the always offering superb customer service, the lowest rates in the industry and full guarantees on all programs offered!

Like Derek Gavin said about his company, In no way, shape or form is Securus Payments affiliated with Riverside Payments or National Paymentech. Brandon Skinner of riverside payments and Andrie Wirth of National Paymentech both were ex employees of Securus Payments and are 100% Frauds. They have Taken Securus Payments internal docs and have tried to steal customers. Legal actions have been taken with both Riverside Payments and National Paymentech. If you have any information leading to them acting as or using documents of or similar to Securus Payments please email Support@securuspayments so we can legally handle this. Securus is a Publicly Traded, Inc 500 company Striving to provide merchants with an honest service.

BUYERS BEWARE of these fraudulent company’s!!!!!

    • Tony

Correction. Information in the above reply was incorrect: Brandon Skinner was not an ex associate or a fraud of Securus payments and riverside payments does not hold any internal documents of Securus Payments or are in a legal matters with Securus. Still Securus Payments is in no way shape or form part of or associated with riverside payments.

      Thanks!

    • Tony

      Update:

Andrie Wirth/National Paymentech no longer have or are using Securus internal documents or attempting to contact our customers and no further legal matters exist at this time.

      Thanks!

As the owner of Expect Payment Solutions, I would like to clarify the fact that Expect Payment Solutions is in no way, shape, or form, connected to Riverside Payments. One of the principles of Riverside was a former partner, however, his share in the company was purchased in June of 2014. I am the only person with ownership of Expect Payment Solutions and we have no ties or collaborative efforts with Riverside Payments.
