About Riverside Payments

Riverside Payments is a Portland-based merchant account provider that was established in 2014. The company offers payment processing to most traditional industries and claims to be a popular credit card processor for bars and restaurants, although this claim is not substantiated by any formal ranking or reviews. Riverside appears to primarily be a Fiserv payment processing reseller, see our Fiserv Review for more details.

. They may also partner with other processors for more specific industry needs. Prospective clients will want to fully understand who will be processing their payments as fees and terms may be affected by which processor is selected.

Riverside Payments and Merchant Services

As a merchant services provider, Riverside Payments processes all major debit and credit cards for standard-risk businesses. The company focuses its marketing efforts on a variety of industries, including restaurants, breweries, QSR/fast casual, cafes, vape shops, mobile credit card processing, automotive repair, retail, ATM services, gift cards, and e-commerce. To cater to these businesses, Riverside Payments offers multiple POS solutions through leading providers such as Clover, Revel Systems, OVVI, and TouchBistro.

In addition to these services, Riverside Payments offers a range of other financial solutions such as cash advances, mobile solutions, virtual terminals, payment gateways, advanced fraud detection suites, automated recurring billing, ePN plug-in for QuickBooks, online bill pay, EMV chip readers, and SEO and marketing management. With such a diverse range of offerings, Riverside Payments is well-positioned to provide tailored solutions to businesses across various industries.

Riverside Point-of-Sale (POS) Partners

Riverside Payments partners with several leading point-of-sale (POS) providers to offer a range of solutions to businesses. Each POS system has its own unique pricing structure, and businesses should compare the costs and features of each system before making a decision. However, all of the POS systems offered by Riverside Payments share some common benefits, including ease of use, flexibility, and a range of payment options. Ultimately, the best POS system for a business will depend on its specific needs and industry.

Clover POS

Clover POS is a popular choice for businesses of all sizes and industries. It offers a range of features, including inventory management, employee management, and analytics. The Clover POS also supports a range of payment types, including credit and debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards. One of the benefits of Clover is its user-friendly interface, making it easy to learn and use. Clover also offers a range of hardware options, including countertop and handheld devices.

A drawback to Clover POS is that the hardware is often provided to businesses through an expensive lease that can only be canceled by paying off the remaining lease payments. Clover systems are also only compatible with Fiserv/First Data processing services, which a be a problem if a business purchases the hardware and later wants to switch processors.

Revel Systems POS

Revel Systems is another popular POS system that offers a range of features for businesses. It includes inventory management, employee scheduling, and a customizable interface. Revel Systems also offers a robust analytics dashboard that allows businesses to track their performance and identify trends. One unique feature of Revel Systems is its offline mode, which allows businesses to continue accepting payments even if their internet connection goes down.

OVVI POS

OVVI POS is a cloud-based POS system that offers a range of features, including inventory management, employee management, and sales analytics. OVVI is known for its ease of use, and its intuitive interface makes it easy to train employees. OVVI also offers a range of payment options, including credit and debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards.

TouchBistro POS

TouchBistro is a POS system that is designed specifically for the food and beverage industry. It includes features such as menu management, tableside ordering, and real-time inventory tracking. TouchBistro also offers a range of payment options, including mobile payments and gift cards. One of the benefits of TouchBistro is its ability to integrate with third-party apps and services, allowing businesses to customize their POS system to meet their specific needs.

NCR Silver

NCR Silver is another POS system that Riverside Payments offers. NCR Silver is a cloud-based POS system that is designed for small to medium-sized businesses. It offers a range of features, including inventory management, employee scheduling, and reporting. NCR Silver also offers a customer loyalty program and the ability to track sales and inventory in real-time.

One unique feature of NCR Silver is its integration with QuickBooks, which allows businesses to easily manage their accounting and financial data. NCR Silver also offers a range of payment options, including credit and debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards. Another benefit of NCR Silver is its user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for businesses to train their employees.

In terms of pricing, NCR Silver has a simple pricing structure that includes a monthly subscription fee and a per-transaction fee. Overall, NCR Silver is a great option for small to medium-sized businesses that are looking for an easy-to-use POS system with a range of features and payment options.

National Paymentech Connection

According to an old version of the footer on its website and its filing with the Oregon business registry, Riverside Payments appears to have shared an address with National Paymentech at 9600 NE Cascades Parkway STE 220, Portland, Oregon 97220. However, the company's contact page has also previously listed a different location at 111 SW 5th Ave #3150, Portland, Oregon 97204, and a representative of the company has stated that the company's offices are actually located at 12500 SE 2nd Circle #240, Vancouver, Washington 98684. Even with that, they now appear to have another address (see below). Riverside Payments and National Paymentech have both been represented by the law offices of Mark Sampath in the past, and Mr. Sampath currently serves as corporate counsel to National Paymentech. Taken as a whole, these facts seem to suggest that there is some kind of connection between National Paymentech and Riverside Payments. A Riverside Payments representative has stated that the companies previously worked together but have since severed ties.

Location & Ownership

Brandon Skinner, the president and CEO of Riverside Payments, is a former employee of Expect Payment Solutions, a merchant services provider based in Vancouver, Washington. However, the current owner of Expect Payment Solutions has stated that there is no current affiliation between the two companies. Riverside Payments is a registered ISO of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, California. They are now located at 5721 SE Columbia Way Suite 150, Vancouver, WA 98661.

Negative Feedback

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. We signed them under the impression we were going to pay less than our previous merchants but they signed us up with a non cancel equipment lease company which is separate from their contract. My business only needs one credit card terminal but the sales rep lied and said it was the ‘package’ deal so they sent me 5/7 terminals just so they can charge me $449 a month for just equipment ON TOP of credit card fees. It took them about two weeks to even get our cancelling process in motion and we are still trying to send our equipment back. We learned our lesson now to read all the fine print after this company and to check the BBB website for all complains and reviews. – Review from November 8, 2023

Hello. I contracted to use this merchant services company in April 2023 and was promised they could fully integrate with my POS system. They were not able to. I was charged $44.09 on May 8th and $42.95 on June 8th. I have been in contact with this company since May trying to get a refund but no one will respond. Please help. Thank you. – Complaint from November 2, 2023

Negative Feedback

Sold us by claiming to be CBD friendly. Their bank dropped us for selling CBD. Don’t use this company if you sell CBD or Delta products. Their bank dropped us for CBD, didn’t notify us that they dropped us for a week but continued taking our money. We had our money on hold for 5 weeks while Riverside was unresponsive about the status of our money and still charging us a monthly fee. Now they are trying to force us to continue using them. Bad business. – Review from October 18, 2023

Fraud. I’m not even sure where to start with this “company.” Long story short – I worked with them for 4 years with no problems, then upon resigning the crap show started. First I was told I could keep my equipment through this term, that apparently was a lie as I was rushed with emails and calls about returning my old equipment to receive new (which I didn’t want/ care to do) but I did. Then I get notified they were taking double payments from my account and I would be refunded almost $1000. Well, that was a lie. I got refunded $350 since starting this adventure in MAY. I am still waiting on a little over $650 refund, nobody will return my calls, my emails are ignored, and I am out of money. Literally 0/10 on customer service. Not to mention, the employees give ME attitude that THEIR COMPANY owes me money rather than just giving me back my money. They feel the need to make empty promises or completely talk off to me as if I’m inconveniencing them for wanting my money back. Awful awful experience. – Review from September 10, 2023

Sitejabber Rating Analysis

Riverside Payments has an average customer review rating of 1.0 star on Sitejabber based on 1 customer review. The review indicates general dissatisfaction with the company’s services, highlighting issues such as high costs due to surprise fees, difficulty in using their system, misleading cancellation policies, and aggressive sales tactics.

Negative Feedback

Here are the reasons Riverside Payments is HORRIBLE: 1. They claim ‘low rates & no surprise fees’, but AFTER their SURPRISE FEES… they are 2 to 3 TIMES as costly. 2. It is bothersome & difficult to use their system…& EVERYTHING has a ‘required add-on’ which further adds to the overall costs. 3. They are bothersome to drop their ‘cancel at any time at no additional fee’ option & the ‘cancel’ option has TONS of cancellation fees. 4. This company is suspected of scamming. 5. They call back to pitch sales after being terminated…& often times the operators keep pushing the product like an annoying telemarketer… some going to the point of using profanity & threatening remarks to have your business ‘shut down’ for ‘wasting their time’. Horrible. Absolutely Abyssmal. This business needs a solid class-action suit brought up on them (if there isn’t one already). They called AGAIN today! (How Absurd) – Review from May 28, 2022

Riverside Payments Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Cancellation Penalties Yes
Monthly & Annual Fees Yes
Processing Rates Variable
Equipment Leasing Yes

Long-Term Merchant Account Contracts

Riverside Payments does not disclose its processing rates or merchant account contract terms publicly but we have found descriptions of the company’s credit card processing fees in customer complaints. According to these complaints and the company’s official responses to them, Riverside Payments charges an early termination fee of up to $695, a $9.95 “reg product fee,” a $99 “annual comp svc fee,” a monthly minimum fee of $25, and a monthly statement fee of $5. There are also multiple customer complaints that state that the company’s agents sell non-cancellable POS equipment leases that last for up to 48 months and cost up to $190 per month. These leases also come with Liquidated Damages-style early termination fees, resulting in reported cancellation penalties totaling thousands of dollars. We encourage merchants to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant services.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

In addition to its storefront payment processing services, Riverside Payments also dedicates a portion of its website to advertising its virtual terminal and payment gateway services. However, pricing is not disclosed on either of those services. The company lists First Data Global Gateway, eProcessing Network, and Authorize.Net as its payment gateway providers.

First Data Global Gateway and Authorize.Net each charge a rate of 2.90% plus $0.30. Authorize.Net charges a payment gateway fee of $25 per month and a $0.10 batch fee. First Data Global Gateway charges no gateway fee but does charge a $19.95 monthly fee for its Pro Plan that provides e-commerce merchants a lower transaction rate of 1.89% plus $0.23. Meanwhile, eProcessing Network’s gateway fee is assessed on a per-transaction basis of $0.05 along with a monthly fee of between $8 to $10 per month. Additional rates and fees, including technical support fees, may typically apply to these e-commerce services.

Riverside Payments Equipment Lease Partners

Some of the leasing companies mentioned by complainants or by Riverside Payments include First Data Global Leasing, Northern Leasing Systems, and Executech Lease Group. A Riverside representative has stated that the company has severed ties with Northern Leasing. Overall, these terms are not competitive with the industry’s cheapest merchant accounts, and the constant complaints about undisclosed lease terms are troubling enough to lower the company’s score to a “D.”

Fake Testimonials Possible

We have received a large number of similarly worded, unverified positive Riverside Payments Reviews. We have reason to believe that at least some of these testimonials are fake. This has negatively impacted the company’s score in this section.

Riverside Payments Sales & Marketing Strategy

Riverside Payments appears to utilize a combination of strategic partnerships, telemarketing, and both in-house and independent sales agents to market its merchant services. The use of independent sales agents is typically linked to elevated complaint rates within the credit card processing industry, and we have found multiple Riverside Payments complaints that mention aggressive telemarketing tactics and nondisclosure of merchant account contract terms. These complaints describe a poor experience with a sales representative over the phone. Other complaints that the company has received on other websites cite aggressive telemarketing practices and various misrepresentations by sales agents regarding card processing fees and equipment lease terms. These issues do not compare favorably to our list of best credit card processors.

Riverside Payments Rates

Despite customer complaints about its sales tactics, Riverside Payment does not openly display any misleading merchant account rate quotes or unrealistic guarantees in its official materials. If you suspect, however, that Riverside Payments is overcharging you, you can double-check your pricing with a third-party statement audit.

Our Riverside Payments Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

Riverside Payments currently rates as a below-average credit card processing services provider according to our rating criteria. Customer reviews have resulted in a steady stream of complaints related to its sales tactics and contract terms. Riverside Payments has taken steps to address some of these issues in recent months, but their efforts have yet to slow the rate at which the company accumulates negative reviews. There is also no indication that Riverside’s pricing and contract terms have become more client-friendly since our last update. For now, business owners are more likely to obtain a better deal through a top-rated credit card processor.

Terrible company. They use telemarketers who spoof numbers and continuously cold call businesses to the point of harassment. I’ve asked them numerous times to remove our number from their call list, but they keep on calling. I’ve booked appointments with their sales reps and ask them to please remove us from the call list. But no, they just keep on calling. I wouldn’t to do business with this company if they paid ME.

A sales rep came in in November 2023. He was polite and new to the company, I was his first pitch. I let him do his thing even though I was overall happy with my current processor. He did quote a savings, which surprised me, because no one else had managed to do that. It was enough for me to consider changing. I reached out to my current provider to give them a chance to counter offer and after a week they hadn’t contacted me back so I switched. Biggest mistake I could have made. Out the gate I was being charged weird extra’s and things that didn’t make sense. The first bill for the equipment lease was insane, and I found out after the fact that it’s because they charge the first two years sales tax up front, I was assured that that would be refunded if I canceled though and another almost $400 in unmentioned charges were refunded, but they even charge me un mentioned insurance n their equipment saying I can only get that removed with a statement from my insurance that they will cover the equipment. I was forced to get a second account with them with TSYS/Cayan to make it work with my POS which wasn’t mentioned in the initial pitch and upped my total cost by $100 a month, and when I ran the %’s I wasn’t saving over my previous provider. They promised several refunds that have never been given. They state in their sales pitch that if they can’t save you money they’ll move you to someone else. In February they run a savings check on my account and admit that I am not saving money; they again promise a refund that is never seen. In March after spending way to many hours fighting to even be equal in expense to my previous provider I wanted out and told them as much as well as reactivating my previous provider. They wouldn’t respond to my requests to close the account for almost two weeks until I included the direct emails of higher ups from their webpage. Even then it took them more then a week to reply. I finally get a phone call, and am told I will be allowed to close my account and the early termination fee will be waved, but I am also informed that my equipment lease in non-cancelable, through Finova. This is the biggest scam, shadiest, most horrid way to do business that I have ever seen, but I feel like I can still end things early and still don’t want to be part of Riverside Payments. These practices and predatory and misleading at best, and should be downright criminal. I get an email after the call stating that they actually won’t be waving the early termination fee as from they check I am saving money. I still have not received the refunds or changes to my rates that they promised in February which only possibly shows savings if they ignore the increased charge for equipment lease insurance and the extra cost of TSYS/Cayan. I replied requesting all future communication be in writing and stating that I still wanted the forms to close my accounts as well as my original contracts to review. The company now isn’t responding to me. I will be filing all the complaints I can and reaching out to their Acquiring Bank Wells Fargo.

I would not do business with this company. At best they use deceptive practices in order to get you to sign (e-sign) a long term equipment lease agreement. The equipment is of little value in comparison to the monthly charge. Not a good company to deal with. NEVER sign anything having to do with an equipment lease. it is a rip off. Person came in and sold service and have not been able to contact since.

Surprise fees all over the place and I have yet to receive any of the funds that have been charged since switching to them as a processor. I have tried to contact them multiple times a day, every day this week and only got one response when someone actually answered their phone. We are 100% e-commerce and don’t need any terminals. I was very clear about this. I was sent 8 terminals and am being charged $1200 per month for the “non-cancellable lease” of said terminals. I tried to look at the actual agreements that were signed and I no longer have access to them. Weird.

    Sister's Nutrition

I started using them in October of 2023. I was a new business owner and thought it would take away some of the fees I had previously been paying they showed me where I would save money with them. I told them exactly what i liked about the equipment i had and the importance of some of the features for me. The equipment process was a hassle, at first the sent me a credit card machine that looked like it was possibly one of the first ones ever used. Finally got them to send another one and still wasn’t what I had expressed that i needed, they offered me no help to be able to fix the system to do what I needed. I am still unhappy with the equipment. When I told them I wanted to cancel less than 30days into the agreement and had not even used the machine yet I was told there was no way to that. No matter how little or much I use the pos I am constantly being charged hundreds of dollars a month i have been trying to get someone on the phone for months. They have yet to return my calls. The amounts they are taking are making it impossible to keep my small business running.

    The Studio Cafe

I wish I had read this article sooner. We have had the same experience as almost everyone else in these and the BBB complaints. The sales rep Ezra came into our shop and completely lied to us. We said no, we are not interested in switching from Square because if we don’t like Clover, we are stuck. Ezra said “oh no no if you don’t like Clover you can leave at any time!” We said, well that sounds nice but we don’t believe you unless it’s in writing. So he got us a letter from his boss stating we could leave without penalty IF Riverside wasn’t meeting their promised processing rate. Not exactly what we asked for, but the rate was what we cared about so we said ok.
He said he’d like to get the contract taken care of immediately as he wouldn’t be in our area tomorrow. Knowing how vehemently opposed we were to binding contracts, he completely neglected to tell us that by signing this contract we were also signing an unbreakable FOUR year contract for Clover equipment rental, totaling around $5k. Mind you, the equipment can be purchased for less than $800. The contract arrived in our email, and 17 minutes later this zillion page contract was signed. How did it get done that quickly you ask? It’s because the sales rep was right there telling us “on this page, it’s (lie lie lie)- sign here.” He did that for all the pages. There was nothing that looked like a rental agreement, but there was suddenly a “glitch” where he had to resend us the contract. We believe, but cannot prove, that he slipped those pages in at this point. We never would have agreed to that kind of contract, even if we did have it in writing that we could cancel. I promise you, we never saw those pages. Anyway 2 years on, rates were never met, fees rose, new fees were added, and it was costing way too much money. Riverside never actually delivered in the promised rate, so after giving them lots of time, we decided to cash in on that letter and request a cancellation. We even have documentation from them admitting they had not been hitting the rate. However, the customer service rep Emily said we could not apply that letter unless we let them process for another 30 days. Nowhere in the letter does it say this. Can you guess why they wanted us to do that? Exactly- they wanted to fudge the numbers to be able to say “see? We’re saving you money! You can’t cancel! The letter is void!” So needless to say, they will only let us leave if we pay a $695 cancellation fee, and pay off the remaining $2400 for the $800 equipment that we already paid $2400 in payments for. Look I understand that we should not sign contracts without having a lawyer look them over, but first of all we had what we thought was a binding letter, and secondly, who on earth would think that what the sales rep is telling you is the exact opposite of what’s in the contract? How is that good business for Clover? We’ve never encountered such unscrupulous business practices before, so we just didn’t know. We were too trusting. We are disgusted to read all these comments, all over the internet, about this horrible company.
We belong to around 2 dozen Facebook groups for business owners, and every time people ask for POS suggestions, we see “run run run from Clover.” I wish I had seen these, but now at least I can warn others.

If this had a negative rating number or star, it would be negative 5 out of 5. I started using Riverside Payments along with Clover and using the Clover card processor. I don’t make many credit card transactions in my small sole owner business, but I thought it would be a great thing to pass on a lower fee to my customers who do use it to pay me. What a huge mistake! Since I am able to keep a very close watch on my card processing fees, this company still owes me 154.99 in OVERCHARGES above what they set my card reader to charge a fee of 2.5%, which was supposed to more than cover my charges with this company!
My first transaction was 3/14/2023 and the last transaction I made with them was on 5/10/2023. I can only imagine the people who sign up with this outfit who does a larger volume than I do, and who doesn’t keep track of their transactions, how much are they ripping them off?? I am just happy that I did pursue getting out of this contract early, and somehow, was able to get them to waive the fee. But when I asked for my 154.99 back, I was told by Emily S. that because they waived the 695.00 termination fee, that I wasn’t going to get that back. My next stop is the BBB and any and all places I can tell people that they are FRAUDS, and do not hold up to their end of the bargain..

Your rep Zechariah Gurwell is a fraud.. I told him I was not extending any services or needing ANY new equipment and 2 weeks later 2 different cheapo credit card machines arrive and now I’m being charged almost 300 a month for them.. this company prays on STEALING money from hardworking small (very small) businesses that simply cannot afford this fraudulent crap. I’m trying to put 3 little girls thru college and riverside payments is literally stealing from me.. this is the most dishonest company in the world and I wish that POS Zechariah would have the spine or the guts to call me and do the right freaking thing.. your a crook Zechariah Gurwell and I hope everything you do comes back to you in life 10 fold

Dealing with Riverside has been an absolute nightmare! I don’t have enough time to talk about how every step of dealing with them is a fiasco. I trusted them at first because they had a local rep. But soon after setting us up he left Riverside because of “issues”. Now I’m not surprised!
    Four MAJOR problems with Riverside:
    1. The mystery, three-year contract you find out about well after you have signed up, that claims you owe them nearly $1,000.00 each year for processing machines. If you cancel your relationship with Riverside you find out later about the contract and the machine company, that you never heard of, claims you owe them $3,000.00!
    2. You end up paying way more than they said you would. But you don’t know if you are getting the rates they offered because you get random billings from different sources and you can’t track the transactions or charges assessed. The slick talking salesman from Riverside said that they were a one-stop-shop and had eliminated having to deal with other services in order to use theirs. That would turn out to be the second biggest lie I ever heard since we were getting billed from 3 or 4 different sources every month and couldn’t tell what was what.
    3. We spent hours on hold waiting for their customer service to try and get information for us and then passing the buck and never solving the problem. Ever! They had no clue. A complete mess.
    4. Months after trying to cancel their service, over and over again, we were still getting charges from them and their affiliates. We had to initiate a $40/mo. service with our bank to stop them and the affiliates from debiting our checking account every month. It’s the worst it gets. You don’t even know where the charges are coming from! Once we initiated the service with our bank to stop erroneous debits to our account, First Data Merchant Services crawled out from under a rock wondering where their money was and threatening that we owed them $3,000.00 if we break the mystery contract. There is no way we would have signed up if we had any idea they would be charging us nearly $1,000.00 each year just for the machines, which we never wanted or needed. Once you give them permission to debit your account they never stop!
Riverside fits multiple criteria of being considered a total scam! If you are considering them, all I can say is RUN! AWAY! Unless you want to experience deep frustration, similar to what you may be sensing in this review. We ran… back to our previous processor and vowed to never leave them again! No problems there!

Terrible customer service I can’t even use my card reader and because these people are so concerned about getting money. Have uploaded countless documents to try and authorize my account and nothing has been done they have held 15,000 of mine for almost a week now. Hard to run a business and pay employees and order inventory when your credit card company has your money. This company is a freakin joke -5 stars for sure

I have been in business for 13 years and this is the worst processing company that I have dealt with in that time period. I was promised things by the sales person that came into my store that simply were not true. The sales agent was brand new and I felt sorry for him. I asked him questions and he must have called his manager 6 times. I was told that they would handle cancelling the old company which they did not do and I was eventually told by their customer service rep over the phone that I was responsible for that area. I was told that someone would come to my business to install their equipment and make sure that I was satisfied. That did not happen. Finally I got into a dispute with the company and their risk department suspended my account without notifying me. Luckily I had the foresight to see that I would be parting company with Riverside so I kept my old company active. I just simply plugged the old machine in and kept going. Their customer service offered to reinstate me if I behaved myself and I told them to F@ck off. TAKE MY ADVISE AND STAY AWAY FROM RIVERSIDE PAYMENTS.

SCAM REPS, LIES, OMISSIONS, & EXAGGERATIONS THAT COST YOU $$$ & TIME. 06/01/22-We had a good relationship w/ them as a customer for 4yrs. Nicole Fritz called us 5/17 & said she was our new acct mgr. Prior to, fees were taken from our acct monthly & equip cost $153.35/month. She wanted to adjust our existing Riverside plan to apply new COVID relief discounts. We asked if this would change our agreement aside from new discounts (she said NO), change how batch fees were collected (she said NO), & if everything except new discounts would be the same (she said YES). With our long Riverside history we trusted when she hurriedly asked for a drivers license copy & e-signature. Nicole switched us to April Everhart. We asked April the same questions & got the same answers. Neither was trustworthy. Where we’re at shows they don’t care that they don’t know what they’re saying, or they just lie. 1 or 2 days later new equip came. Riverside tech support called & said to install it. We said the only change was new discounts & weren’t expecting new equip. Nicole & April didn’t mention new equip when asked about changes. Tech support said to replace existing equip as new discounts were programmed in the new equip. We trusted that. Then FEES BEGAN LEAVING OUR CHECKING ACCT DAILY, not monthly. Then new equip COST MORE ($169.60/month= $195/yr MORE). NICOLE FRITZ & APRIL EVERHART MISLED US INTO SIGNING A NEW MULTI-YR LEASE UNDER FALSE PRETENSES. Daily fees were an instant issue. We have fraud protection against unknown ACH withdrawals from our checking acct. As each card batch closed daily thru Riverside’s equip they wanted to take fees via ACH from our acct. Fee amounts weren’t disclosed on batch slips or online before our bank’s ACH approval cutoff time. April said she’d fix it. Never happened. We kept calling Riverside to verify pending ACH fee amounts. They’ve not confirmed the fees or haven’t replied before our bank auto-rejects the ACHs in the afternoon. They can’t verify the fee amounts before 2pmEST, halting them from pulling what they’re presumably owed, so they’re not funding us our sales batches. We called cust-service to fix this so fees leave monthly again. They say the change isn’t possible w/ Nicole & April’s concocted agreement. We called acct mgr Nicole to see if she could manage our acct. She won’t help; says she strictly sells. We learned what a chaotic mess Nicole is. She’s removed herself from all issues she’s caused & couldn’t care less. Riverside’s blessing & April’s support let Nicole present herself as an acct mgr advocating for existing clients. She really just says whatever to sell a plan you don’t need at greater cost. April will parrot Nicole. Neither will address the wrong info they delivered. Cust-service is unwilling to fix Nicole’s acct change. Each SURPRISE Nicole & April LEFT OUT has been against our business’s well-being. Look out new customers, this is how they treat existing clients. If Nicole Fritz calls you don’t engage. Just hang up. LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKE in dealing w/ Riverside’s greasy tactics. 06/02/22-Phil from Riverside called & is going to look into why the agreement Nicole & April sold is a mess. We’re trusting Phil to help so we receive our sales, less process fees owed to Riverside. Phil thinks it will be settled soon & knows we will no longer be in the good old lease or garbage new lease. 06/16/22-It’s been 14 days since Phil & I spoke. A MONTH since Nicole & April messed up our merchant processing. We sent all equip back w/ UPS, delivery was 06/13 (UPS Tracking 2 boxes: 1Z6XX7080357793560 & 1Z6XX7080358651578 ). GET ACH PROTECTION ON YOUR BANK ACCT IF USING RIVERSIDE. We had to reject a charge for equip we returned. 06/24/22-Collections called for payment on the returned equip. A Riverside stmnt history pic & unfunded batch pics are posted w/Google review. Now-These problems cost real time/$ and are yet unresolved. We put plenty good faith, courtesies, & time in w/ Riverside to fix before posting.

Regarding the issues described above in our review, Riverside finished resolving the problems on 08/16/22. A member of Riverside’s executive team became aware of our experience and showed real care in making things right. Thank you

I’m In the same mess, it’s a scam company.. you do realize that the equipment lease place is gonna want like 10k for early cancellation fees.. what a joke.. don’t pay nothing and remember it’s illegal to send you to collections when you never agreed to pay these fees

  • Nicole

We are very unimpressed with Riverside Payments. Our salesmen (Tre and Zachariah) lied and deceived us to get us to sign with them. They promised rates that beat our current provider. We are at 3.75% with our current provider and they promised to come in at 2%. Completely leaving out the fact that they also charge 1.75% so we are still at the same rate we have with our current company. Tre and Zachariah also stated that they would pay for any cancelation fees we had with our current company. They also stated that they “took care of everything with canceling with our current company because breakup calls are awkward”. We assumed everything was taken care of; until a month later when our current company called us and stated they hadn’t received anything stating we wanted to cancel. After emailing Riverside about not canceling our current contract, I got a call stating I would have to call our current company while a Riverside rep stayed silent on the phone call and “took notes”. So much for no awkward break up phone call. When we signed the contract online, Tre and Zachariah made sure to go over each page VERY quickly and left out a lot. We are trying to cancel our contact with Riverside because we beyond unimpressed with their business practices and customer service. We have been with them less than 90 days. They are telling us we have to pay $2500 to get out of our contact. Unbelievable after all the lies we have been told. We have also requested copies of all phone conversations because they record them and they have completely ignored our request multiple times. Jennifer Ensminger (Director of Operations) called to discuss our issues and the fact that we wanted to cancel. She had an answer for everything we were lied to about and had no interest in making it right. She also claims that there just so happened to be an issue with their phone lines when the salesmen spoke to us. Convenient that the calls that prove all the lies and deceit are not available. Run the other way from this company!!!!

I think Riverside Payments having a 2 star review is very generous, this company is just truly awful especially if you are a small business and depend on your money being deposited to your account in a timely manner. I switched and never should have, they give you all the info you want to hear then when you switch and find out that what you were assured is not what you get and when you question it all you get is excuses and you are locked in and costs a fortune to get out of. Since I have switched my deposits are not going in daily always and excuse (last company used first data merchant same as this company and never a problem) if you had an American express if you didn’t batch on time or they say it was a security alert, prime example my batch last night was 5800.00 which was batched on time 3pm riverside time no American express no refunds or credits so this morning they only deposited 440.00 of MY money cant not get an answer as to why they decided I only got a partial deposit. This happens at least 2 to 3 times a week and if you are trying to match your quick books up with deposits you have to try and figure out what combination of invoices they choose to deposit. I highly recommend if anyone approaches you from this company show them right back to the door.

Joining riverside payments was the worst business decision I’ve ever made. Extremely slow customer service, predatory contracts with hidden fees and extensions, huge cancellation fees, and expensive leasing fees without the option to buy the equipment. Cannot recommend, avoid for your own well being.

They are the worst of the worst!! They had to cancel mine because it could not be connected. They have and continue to take money out of my account. This is theft!! The phone number for the clover equipment is nothing but recordings, never being able to speak to a person. This has been going on for 5 months now with no resolution. Like I said they are the worst of the worst!! If they call pitching their sell, I suggest you just hang up on them so you can enjoy the rest of your day. A 2 star review is too good for them.

I am very disappointed with this company. I was very wary of changing companies due to the bad experiences I have had with credit card processing companies. I did explain this to Michelle when she came in to give me a quote. I was getting good rates but was told they could get me a little lower and promised no more than 1.6 (current company was 1.7)and that deposits were made daily and if I did not get service I was promised her supervisor Alica said I would be able to cancel no problem. So first bill comes in at 2.2 and deposits are not made daily example one week Thursday deposit did not go in but Fridays did then on Tuesday morning Fridays deposit along with Saturdays and Mondays all went in together (that would not be a problem but I have to match quickbooks deposits with daily sales not easy to say the least). I reached out to company and then was given a discounted rate down to 1.7 still not the 1.6 promised and told they could not make sure deposits were done daily as I had been told. I asked to cancel service because was not what I was told that I could not cancel without at least a 600.00 fee and then what ever the First Data Merchant was going to charge me for cancelling the machine. So I would advise make sure you have everything in writing because apparently they will lie to you and tell you what you want to hear to switch then you are stuck. I also was told they would send me a check for 1400.00 to get out of old account to switch to them and that never happened either.

  • Alyssa Hodgson

We are very unhappy with our services and time at Riverside Payments. We have been lied to from the beginning by our sales representative, and the company. We were told there would not be many fees, and that we could leave whenever we would like to. We were also told that we would have a local representative to help us out with things. All those statements were untrue. We did not have a local representative, and we had an insane amount of fees just about monthly that we were not told of ahead of time. We also were in a contract we had to pay over $600 to get out of, even though we were told we could get out whenever we would like. We do not recommend Riverside to anyone, nor will we ever go with Riverside again.
We were also not made aware that Ascentium Capital (for our card machine) was through another company, we were under the impression that it was all through Riverside. When we went to cancel and return the card machine, we had to pay another amount of over $1,000.00.
Sales representative was also very misleading. Seemed to say what they needed to make a sale, not the truth.

Just another shady processor. I terminated them in June 2020. They continued to charge my account every month. They asked me to provide bank statements to prove their excess charges. They then refunded me $99.00 and ignored the other $617.00 they owed. Do not do business ess with them.

Seems all great up front, but too many customer let downs at installs and service. The majority of people are 1099, and work their butts off, but seems like the focus is get a few accounts ( and reps get paid so far out ) they leave and the accounts go to the HOUSE. On going RED FLAGS and customer complaints and although they have great pricing, they rarely maintain taking care of the customer. The ongoing issues of oversell, and no backup on the backend. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY WORKING FOR THEM – IT IS A BIG TURNOVER FOR 99% OF THE TEAM.

  • eric

They must have all of their little drones putting these reviews up because they are simply not trustworthy. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!! They’ve promised for 3 to 4 months now to make things right and have not done so. The owe my business hundreds for services never rendered. They will try to suck you in! I have tons of corresponding emails with their promises of fixing this and will start posting them shortly. I have snapshots and I have forwarded them to a different email address to make sure they’re all saved. I will post on every platform I can find, and also report this company to the appropriate authorities.

I had to call Riverside payments this morning with a problem. I had the pleasure to talk to a customer representative by the name of Amii Grace. Wanted to take a moment and comment on my recent Riverside Payments experience with Helen S.
I was failing my compliance audit and it was negatively impacting my rates. Helen saw my frustration and assisted in the process until I was compliant.
It is hard to express what this meant to me and the relief I felt knowing it was handled. A+ performer.

They continue to call my shop. I’m only the shop manager not the owner. Told them to contact the main office. Today 4/9/2019 they call at 11:59am asking if it’s ok to send a sales rep to do a demo and talk to us. Stated once again that would be pointless. At 12:50pm this young man walks in starts his spill, I stop him and explain what I had told the other 34 people who’ve called since last weekend that he would need to contact corporate. Dude went start punk. He states, “All I’m trying to do is save you money.” Sorry bubba wrong shop to mouth of with a sales pitch when I have a store full of customers that I’m trying to take care of. Plus we have a no solicitation sign on the door. Instead of being a man he keeps spewing off at the mouth as he’s walking out the door. So I made sure to go out of my store to let him know we never want their business and if he steps back in here I will criminal trespass him and do all I can to send his smart mouth to jail. Seriously what type of joke of a company is this!?!

I am so impressed with the customer service I have received from Robin Ruiz at Riverside Payments! She not only handled the issue but followed up to make sure all went well. I don’t have to wait on hold when I call for assistance and I am grateful that these folks are located here in the PNW and not overseas. Overall, best customer service I have had in a long time! Thank you Robin!

Just got a call from 503-802-0872 Portland Oregon. Stated the were One Connect Processors. Typical 0 and 1% fees. As best I can tell Riverside is re-branding. A quick searched showed up BBB profile with matching address .

I have also been getting calls from a Company called Tru Blue Pay with a almost dead copy of One Connects web site.

I would be very leary of these company’s.

  • Susan Williams

Run the other way if a Riverside representative contacts you. They will get you into unnecessary equipment leases and tell you that you can cancel any time if you don’t get the rates they promise. Unfortunately, the lease companies are totally separate and have no idea that Riverside promises this, which means you’re on the hook for those leases, and Riverside is in the clear. They are difficult to deal with and practice fraud and deceit.

This is absolutely the worst company we have ever worked with. They promised the moon and the stars and couldn’t deliver. It was a constant battle. Every day there was a different excuse for why they didn’t fund the money as promised. We had switched from Bank of America merchant services which worked flawlessly. After two weeks of getting the run around, we decided to switch back to Bank of America as we felt we could not trust Riverside and needed our funds in a timely manner to operate our business. They refused to honor their satisfaction guarantee and we were left to pay a four year lease on equipment we can not use. To put this into perspective, they strapped us with a $210.00 a month charge (originally it was over $400.00 but when I refused to pay that high of a charge for equipment, they lowered it) to lease the exact same equipment we lease from Bank of America for $36.00 a month. In short, this mistake cost our business over $10k which I am still paying for. Buyer Beware!

Riverside Payments has been helpful every step of the way as we made decisions on what would be best for us to run our new business efficiently. Easy to contact and to get questions answered. We have been working closely with Dave Tipton through this process and couldn’t be happier with the service!

Our Riverside representative Ryan Parsons was very helpful and very detailed when giving us information while we were setting up. Ryan is also a hardworking gentleman; he will get back to us on Sunday evenings! On the other hand, I gotta mention the ladies at Riverside payments! They are by far the most helpful customer service representatives I have ever spoke with! I highly recommend Alisa, Ami and Destinee for any confusion or problems, they are excellent!

Riverside Payments has been a blessing to our company. Their customer support has been super. Everyone I have spoke to has been a big help. The best part is how great they are in helping you with the transition from your previous provider. Mid America Truck Wash, LLC definitely gives them 5 stars and would recommend them to anyone looking for a change.

All of the good reviews are only for buyouts! Riverside! Worst company ever!!!!! hidden fees are putting my career and my income in jeopardy! I have dealt with riverside several times in the last week and have found them to be very helpful. The person I have dealt with is Helen Simpson and have found her to be one of the most courteous and helpful of anyone I’ve ever had to deal with. She put my needs first and helped in every possible way.

I’ve had nothing less than a great experience with Riverside Payments. Today I called and asked for help with answering PCI compliance questions and they were eager to help and immediately set up an appointment to walk me through it.

My business, Panther Pizza in Panhandle, TX, has had a wonderful relationship with Riverside Payments. We were unable to accept debit and credit cards for many years because the fees charged by most banks were too much for our small business to absorb. Fees charged by Riverside are reasonable, they take an active interest in my happiness with their service, and I never have any issues with the equipment. Any time I have had a question, there is always someone to help me through it immediately. My business has grown because of our relationship with Riverside. Thanks for what you do!

  • Michael Laskin

Simply put, the staff at Riverside payments is crushing the customer service game. Anytime I call, i’m immediately transferred to a knowledgeable staff member that can address my concerns in quick fashion. This is my 3rd company in 10 years, and these guys get it. No wait times, they value my time, but take the time to make sure everything is explained to my (sometimes 5 grader brain) understanding. Oh, and also, they do what they say they’re going to do, they notate every call, handle business for my business.

  • Linda Berland

Riverside Payments provides the customer service that we have been looking for. Very helpful, love the transparency, and they are there to answer any questions. I have enjoyed working with every person I have had contact with from sales to IT, to customer service. I highly recommend this service.

Great company to do business with. Had an issue only once. It was dealt with and resolved expediently. It turned out the issue was caused by our Point of Sale system and not Riverside Payments. Just signed up for the Online Portal after instructions from April who was very knowledgeable and courteous, It was simple and is very useful.

  • Berneice Burkholder

Excellent customer service. They really work to make sure you are paying a fair price for charge card services. They took the time to review our previous credit card records and made recommendations that saved our company a lot of money.

  • Nick

I have very mixed opinions about these guys as a company. On one hand, they have very low rates, which is enticing, but on the other hand, switching over to them for my processor has been a complete pain in the ass. Between taking 9 months to actually be able to get switched over to them, and losing about $1500 in sales in our first three months with them because they forgot to check a single box on the back end that made it impossible for my customers to make purchases with AMEX, while also starting out with a much higher processing fee than I was told (which was higher than my previous provider), and finally, billing me a $500 tobacco processing fee which was promised to be covered, has seriously had me question the competence of this company. Ever since starting with them, I’ve felt that I’ve had to keep them on a tight leash and comb over every statement just to make sure things are kept in line and are staying how I finally have them.

Would I recommend them to a friend? Likely no. Is all of this hassle worth the overall 1% less than I am paying compared to my previous provider? Maybe, over time.

The only good thing that I really have to say is that things started getting better once Robyn started helping me halfway through this mess, and I’m now at a point where I am comfortable with the company. Of all the employees I’ve worked with over there, she is certainly my favorite because she gets things done and always has a good attitude about it. I likely would have cancelled these guys and stayed with my previous provider if it wasn’t for her.

  • Tony

In the 1-1/2 years we have worked with this processor, we have received excellent service from their customer and technical support teams. They have been quick to respond to any needs or questions and to resolve any issues. Robyn Ruiz in customer support and Shane in technical support have been especially helpful.

It took a couple of months for Riverside to coordinate with my POS Provider TALECH) to get the correct equipment to me, but since then (about 5 months, now) everything has worked well and their savings projections have been met.
Their reports are easy to understand and arrive promptly.
    No complaints.

We changed to Riverside from a processor that was constantly a problem. Riverside not only was very helpful switching from the old company but also has been great ever since.

  • Carlesia Taylor

Riverside’s fees are lower than our previous credit care processing company, which is really nice for a small business. Their support staff and everyone that I have spoken with is very helpful, friendly and makes sure that you understand everything, they are willing to stay on the phone through any process and help you through anything. They all have been so polite and friendly. It has been a pleasure doing business with them.

  • Danna K&B Cleaning solutions

Destinee Ryder was so helpful with an issue that I was having. I had called 4 times before to get help and no one could help. She was the only one to take the time to help me figure out what I needed to do. I really respect that she took the time to get my issue resolved. She also was so pleasant to me on the phone

  • Yen Luong

I owned a Spa in Oregon and I have been in business with Riverside Payment for at least a year. Before getting involve with Riverside Payment I had a chance to use iPayment and Bank of America Merchant Service but neither was able to offer the service like Riverside Payment did.

Every issue was resolved professionally in a timely manner. Whether it was by email or phone. Every email I sent in I always get a reply from the Riverside team and to me this means a lot. The team always try their best to maintain communication with me. Not a single email or phone call was left unanswered.

They always provide me more than I ask for.

I want to thank Riverside for a great helper from their customer service today with April doing an exceptional job to help me and please me. She was so patient and kind with me learning to open and operate the website online information site. Thank You!

To remove this review, the customer care department from Riverside Payments had offered me $75.00 (customer service rep April Wetzel) and termination department offered me termination fee $695.00 (rep Ammi Grace). Based on this we can see that they know they did a mistake from their side therefore offering me $$ to cover up their mistakes. I did not agree to any of their offers because this showed me how important Google Reviews were to them.

The first and last worst decision I have made in my life was by signing up Riverside Payment services through Sales Representative Aaron Fulton and Dan Riddle, National Sales Manager. They both convinced me by saying that there will be no other charges other than the Effective rate 2% and monthly equipment fee $240.00. When the end of the month statement came there were charges for:
    -BATCH HEADER….$0.70
    -MIN MONTHLY FEE…..$18.32
    -REG PRODUCT FEE…..$9.95
    -DEBIT ACCESS FEE…..$8.00
    -DOLLAR FOR PORTLAND…….$1.00
    -SUSAN G KOMAN……$1.00
    -CLOVER SERVICE FEE……..$39.00

If I have been told that I will be charged for these fees I would have not signed up. Clover is partnered with Riverside they have been charging me monthly fees without me knowing, when I asked the Sales Rep Aaron Fulton he told me that he had no idea about Clover fees and that I have not read the small disclaimer on the agreement about me being charged for the fees. As a Sales Rep he should know what fees will be charged from both companies, when I tried calling him he ignored my call but when I called from another number he immediately answered. Aaron and April Wetzel discussed and agreed to wave my Clover fees, by this time I had enough I wanted to terminate the service.
Finally, I can tell you one thing, they easily made me sign up by showing lower rates and have easily escaped my situation. Now Im stuck with 4 years agreement paying the equipment fee.
They make good money if a customer terminates their service because they can get money from the agreement contract and $695.00 termination fee. (Unbelievably high price for a termination)

Riverside Payments is the best credit card processing company I have worked with. Being the office manager, there’s a lot to take care of day to day, but the least of my worries is the processing system. They made it a smooth transition from my previous company, and they’ve helped me the entire way with any issues. Robin Ruiz is typically who I work with, and she makes sure you’re taken care of.

  • Carol

I have had a great experience transitioning out credit card processing to riverside payments. They have the best customer service that I have ever experienced with any other processing company. When I call with a question or concern, I always get a person on the line to help me. The customer service has been exceptional

My experience the Riverside’s customer service department could not be better. I have spoke with them 3 times recently. All of them was a very pleasant experience. The last time agent name was April. I could not have been treated better. She was just great.

  • Holli Breshears

I have been very pleased with Riverside Payments and their customer service. They respond promptly and are very courteous. They answer my questions thoroughly and in a way I can understand. If they say they will check into something they follow through and do exactly what they say they will do.

  • Nick Van Helden

Riverside has treated me very well. They are in the business of saving me money, and the support staff is very helpful when I reach out. They seem to be interested in my best interest, and put in an honest effort helping me whenever I have issues. Also, the included card reading equipment is a perk that I never received from my prior processor.

  • Crystal Chappell

April Wetzel in Customer Service was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. She took extra steps to explain why and helped me set up my online profile. I would say she definitely goes above and beyond with her job. Keep up the good work April, you deserve a raise.

Justin and his team members cut my expenses in half, paid my former contract off without hesitation. Mypos system ie computer, programs, and reports will be transparent. unlike My former company that had hidden fees on every page. I give them 5 stars.

  • Brenton

I have dealt with at least half a dozen of their reps in different departments and have across the board had amazing experiences. Without exception every employee of theirs that I’ve interacted with has been extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As a business owner this had made my life so much easier.

Our company has been with Riverside Payments for 2 years and have been extremely happy with their services. They are quick to respond, solve and correct (if needed) any issues. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a merchant services provider.

Amazing company with an amazing CEO, Brandon Skinner is the best CEO in the country! He is also the most appochable CEO, and this is coming from someone who worked for another processing company before this one, Jermey and Brandon have been a real honor to work for! They have requirements for us as sales reps in order to continue on the draw program, which is totally understandable, and unfortunately I didn’t meet their requirements, but told me what I needed to do to get reinstated on the draw program. I love Riverside payments and Brandon! Will proudly stand behind them, because they stand behind me!

  • Karen A

We’ve been with Riverside Payments for some months now. I am very happy with this service particularly the really excellent customer service. I’m not thrilled having to rent equipment I don’t use but it is what it is. My former merchant service batching procedures were almost impossible. Riverside with plug n pay is soooo much easier when reconciling. The customer service is really phenomenal and their help is worth everything!

Update to my earlier review dated March 9, 2017. We are in the process of working out the issues we’ve had with Riverside Payments. Hopefully within a month or two all issue will be resolved and we will be able to say we are satisfied. To their credit I intend to write a new review then.

  • Chauntel McFadden

Riverside Payments is the absolute worst credit card processor out there! They start out great until you sign contracts and then everything falls apart. The amount of problems is absolutely unbelievable. I am writing this review in hopes of helping someone else stay clear of these jokers. They lie, they don’t come through for you and they don’t follow through on what they promise. If you are thinking about going with this company PLEASE do your homework and research them carefully. They guaranteed us a savings of 24.17% and as of this post we have paid almost double in fees. They will tell you they are a full service processor. This is NOT true. They sub out everything and then take zero responsibility when you have a question or problem. Don’t fall for their marketing trap!

  • Randy Watson

Riverside Payments has been taking care of my merchant services for over two years and their service is exceptional. I really like the text every day telling me the deposit $$$ to expect. Great company. Thank you Riverside !!!

Riverside attempted to resolve the complaint below through our mediation program but Cole declined to participate. Below is Riverside’s response:

Thank you for providing very candid feedback for us to consider and from which we can improve. After conducting a thorough review of your account, we had previously documented having provided trace numbers that indicate you are in fact receiving 24-hour funding. To double confirm, we took it a step further and performed a 3-way call with you and your bank, at which time they also confirmed that we are indeed providing you with 24-hour funding, which cleared up that matter. At your request, we conducted a rate review, revealing that we are indeed saving you money compared to your previous provider, which is the primary reason you switched to Riverside. Thank you for continuing to process with Riverside and for communicating your concerns. We are always available to help our clients with anything they might need to make their processing experience run smoothly. Please reach out if we can be of any further assistance.

I have the same problem with riverside. They told me the same thing . Bs with the next day money in the account, bs with the 90 days . Now I’m stuck with this bs company

  • Sean S

Do not do business with this company.

I fell for the “guarantee” that Riverside would save me money. They also attached a page that said they would be at 2.18%. The months following I was welcomed with rates as high as 5.5%, after complaining they would refund me down to about 2.18%, at least until canceled my old processor, then this rate started to increase and the excuses came out. It is incredibly time consuming to go back and forth with these guys to get a reasonable rate, the equipment is very poor and getting any assistance requires numerous complaints/contacts (even to get my personal cell phone number off of the customer receipts.)
For more details see my BBB complaint (in process at the time of this writing.) They also committed fraud by pulling pages in and out of the contract as they saw fit (I can prove this with initials from their agent and time stamp from my scanner.) I am not sure where this will go but I imagine legal fees will be involved as I have had to switch my bank account just to get away from the numerous ‘accidental’ charges from this company. Save yourself some time and money and stay away… also be sure to look up the lawsuit in New York against Brandon Skinner.

  • Mary Stanley

Riverside attempted to resolve the complaint below through our mediation program but Mary Stanley declined to participate. Below is Riverside’s response:

First and foremost, we appreciate the feedback you have provided. We are definitely saddened to hear that you would not recommend us to other companies, as we pride ourselves on customer service and referrals, which is actually one of the primary ways we acquire business. To be clear, we never filed a suit against you or your business. We would also like to point out that we not only verbalized that you would receive savings, but also formally signed a written guarantee of savings in which we would abide, or release you without penalty. After signing up at the end of the month, your account was approved and went into an automated system, at which point we could not stop the billing, but immediately processed your requested refunds. The funds were then promptly deposited into your account. Before giving Riverside a fair opportunity to provide you with our promise of savings, you requested to cancel. We immediately started the cancellation process, which was delayed due to the fact that we needed you to complete proper cancellation documents, but we were unable to reach you for 2 months, though making multiple attempts via email, text, and phone. In our system, there was no record of your equipment being returned, which triggered the collections and legal department to reach out to you in inquiry. Once we were finally able to reach you and confirm the return of the equipment, your account was promptly closed with no early termination fees. We’re sorry to have lost you as a client, and once again thank you for the feedback.

I do not recommend this company. They used high pressure sales tactics. Promised all kinds of savings verbally. Slipped in a lease for some chip card readers for an astounding cancellation cost of $12,000.00 for 4 chip readers. Insisted that I sign a contract stating I had already received the equipment when I hadn’t. I can prove this by the tracking numbers of delivery and date on contract. Promised to pick up all fees for transferring the account and for the equipment but there was no written assurance, just verbal. I started to receive statements listing charges that made no sense before we were even hooked up to their system. I immediately returned the equipment and informed them, my bank, and POS provider that I was not going to do business with them. Now they are threatening to sue me. Do not get involved with these people. They did return some of the charges but their system is so screwed up and the charges so unrelated to reality that it seems dangerous to my bank account to give them access to our processing, and since we had not connected their equipment and not begun to process credit card I decided to terminate our relationship. I also received a phone call from a merchant in another town who said I was being used as a reference and described the high pressure tactis, the verbal promises and the equipment contract that I experienced. I told him my experineces and that I had immediately returned the equipment because of the bizarre charges that appeared even before I received the equipment. He said the sales rep represented that I was a satisfied customer at a point in time when they knew I had not even begun to use their services. This is really scammy.

Riverside Payment Inc. has been there every step of the way to help my company, Southern 7 Vapors, work through any processing issues or to just answer questions . I have received excellent customer service from anyone of the staff I have had contact with and would recommend Riverside Payment Inc. to anyone looking to leave their present processing company or just starting a business.

  • Daniel Cullifer

Riverside Payments. What can I say? Their customer service is STELLAR! As is their Tech support. I’ve called and talked to Ryan P. many times in customer service and he is quick to help, upbeat and has a personality that makes it hard not to smile. Mike in tech support is helpful and quick to identify issues and help me resolve them. My only negative is that they don’t have any service techs in my area, so any issue I have electronically I have to call and be walked through how to fix it. But that isn’t that big of a deal since they are very well informed on their product and CAN walk me through the issue. I’m very satisfied I switched to them!

  • John Blubaugh

Riverside sent me a cease and desist letter for posting a bad review about the company. They say that my contract prohibited me from saying anything negative about the company. I gave their legal department a rather graphic idea of what they could do with that order. I could have taken sales away from them since I was not paid and I went to work for a competing company. I didn’t do that. I could have taken other sales representatives with me with the offer of a better opportunity with a company that actually pays you for your sales. I didn’t do that.

This shows you what they are all about and that little man, Brandon Skinner, thinks his legal staff can protect him from mean people who say nasty things about him. Guess again, Brandon.

    • Jason

Legally, you cannot actually switch companies that you signed with one merchant service company to another. Secondly, if you have questions about deals you were not paid on please feel free to contact [email protected]. It appears all deals that should be paid out have been. Thanks again for the review.

  • Mathew Gauvin

I signed on with Riverside Payments after taking over Vtopia Cheese Shop and Deli. We were using Square for simplicity, but the reduced processing fees with Rivermark will save us thousands of dollars. The team has been so helpful with setting up the device and answering any questions we’ve had.

  • John Blubaugh

I am a recent account executive at Riverside Payments. Don’t go to work for these people. I made sales ranging from $100/month to $500/month and I had trouble getting paid on any of them. The one I did get paid on was a $14,400 lease that my national sales manager said I would be paid at least $1500 on. I got paid $245. I was never given any accounting of why this was all I was paid even though I requested it several times. I never got paid on any of the other deals. They take from four to eight weeks to install and verify every deal and they don’t pay until that deal is funded. They run a system where the national sales managers do all of the closing and they are woeful at it. The CEO of the company tried to close three sales for me and failed on all of them. The last one said that he would never process with Riverside because of the way he was treated by this man, Brandon Skinner. Another National Sales manager failed on two deals and my regular national Sales Manager closed at a rate of less than 5%. They provide very few appointments and expect you to cold call for the rest. The customer service issues led to four of the five deals I wrote cancelling. I am an experienced salesman and professional closer. I never got the chance to use that skill. I have been working in credit card processing and I had no trouble getting hired by another company that better matched my skills 24 hours after being let go by the company for complaining about their customer service. All of the money in this company goes to the National Sales Managers and they love strutting around on televised meetings with their expensive suits and shoes bragging about their Mercedes or Cadillac cars. They are all fluff and no substance and couldn’t close a deal if it was a walk in.

  • Jojo Chan

We switched from First Data to Riverside Payments and they saved us much more money than our previous credit card processing company. They had really good customer service. The representative was very helpful and responsible. I would recommend this company to anyone.
There was no long wait times!

  • Rachael Bogard

I am very happy to have switched over to Riverside Payments during this past year. They have been nothing but helpful and speedy to help me get everything I need from them whether it is supplies or questions that I need answered! From my personal rep to the tech team they have given me nothing but great service.

  • Pop's Grill

We have had a great experience with Riversidepayments in Portland,Oregon! No problem is too small! We recieve great service, if it is imperative or just a little issue. Ryan and his staff are always there to answer the phone and answer questions! There is NO phone tree or just a message line but real people who care!

Riverside offered to resolve the complaint below via our mediation program, but this merchant declined to participate.

Exactly the same story like mine. They put the 48 months lease after i signed the contract. I did not know until i got that info from First Data..until then i know i have to deal with not only riverside payment but also a third entity First Data with a 48mond lease= $270. They ripped me off and never answer my email back when i raise some questions about the fees and deceiful contract. Too tired of high fees and non responsive emails from them i decided to cancel the contract. They did wrong at the first place but Now they told me i am responsible for the early termination fee with First Date (48mon×$270 – 2mon i have been with them i guess) because the contract was breached by me. Never use this company. Stay away from them. All they want is to trap you with the contract and rip you off. I am going to cind a lawyer and fight them. I have all the emails kept and some customers of mine will testify in case i need because they were there and also talked with the sale guy Jaccob to help me reassure of what he promissed too. It is going to waste my time but i will fight for my hard earn money.

    • Mary

They are baiting and switching. I would like to start a federal class action lawsuit against this company. This is a scam. I just received a threatening letter today with a sample law suit against me. I have never bee hooked up to their service. I returned the equipment immediately. They took fees out of my account prior to me receiving equipment that was not needed. I do not have a copy of the contract because sale person took it before I could review it and did not leave me with a copy. I would post their letter and copy of lawsuit here if possible.

I have a bet based on some research that some of the charges that passed through my account are link to a cell phone from Lawyer Mark Sampath’s office. Still investigating.

Ok. If you want a business name..here i am Lisa from Creative Nails, Reno, NV. I want to write the review to help other customers to stay away from this company.
Their sale reps Jaccob is a crook. He came to my shop and offered a better rate (1.37) compared to my Square (2.75). He gave an example of calculation of how they would charge each month to show that they would save a half of what i was paying with Square. I asked him cautionously if there is any other fees. He confirmed that no any other fees other than 1.37 percentaged rate. Then he talked me to sign the contract with him. On the contract there was my company info, their info and 1.37 rate..and that is it…after few weeks i asked for the copy of the contract there was another $270/monthly fee ( 48 momths leasing from First Data). They put the $270/monthly with 48months terms there by themself after i signed the contract. When i was about to activate the merchant machines that i got shipped from Frist Data, the womman from First Data told me the $270/ monthly fee (48 months contract) i was suprised about the month fee so i stopped the activation process and call Riverpayment. Marsha from Riversidepayment told me just accept the term and fee with Frist Data to complete the activation process ( it is just a procedure to finish the activation), Riversidepayment would release me from the contract if i am not happy with them or they were not saving me. It was not true, they charged me more than what the sale guy promissed, i had to call or email to question about the charge. They then refund some money back. The next month is the same. I was tired of tracking down the fees, call to complain, and wait to get some refunds back like a begger . I felt so deceiful by this company.
Their customer service representaives were ignogrant also. They know how to keep silent when it comes to questions about charges and terms in contract. They did not return to several emails.
I got the mail from them today saying that i was resposible for the early termination fee with leasing merchant machine First Data
They tied me with the contract and ripped me off. Time to find a laywer to fight with them. Such a bunch of crooks.

  • Bruno Amicci

I’ve been with Riverside for over two years at Low Bar and at Luepke Flowers and Finds. The service has been excellent and when I did have a problem it was resolved to my satisfaction. I was able to obtain a really good rate that exceeded my prior provider. I like having a local company to deal with and a local customer support person that I deal with and knows my businesses and is able to advise me.

  • Matt Cordova

Riverside Payments literally rescued my business from the horrible company that is National Paymentech and their more than dishonest CEO Andrei Wirth.

I have received everything I was originally promised and gotten some very personal attention from Jason and Amii. My rates are fantastic, the turnaround in receiving funds is under 24 hours. I have never been happier with a card processor.

  • Jared Walker

I run a local non-profit called in Portland Oregon. Shortly after I had the idea for the organization I reached out to an insane amount of merchant service companies to acquire help getting set up with our merchant processing. I was told time and time again that my vision wasn’t feasible and that no company would work with me. After two years of exhausting all efforts with no results, I met someone at Riverside Payments. Riverside made it possible for us to operate by sacrificing their own profit in the name of giving back to the community. Riverside is always quick to reply with any problem I have. They are wonderful to work with and I am so happy I found them. Without Riverside my organization would not exist.

Riverside payments inc, the majority of these reviews our employees of yours. I use to work for your company and still remember you telling us to write 5 starr reviews for your company. plus this establishment is not the best company to work for, I remember christmas when they bought a keg and where encourging miners to drink. WORST PART OF ALL IS THE SCAM THERE ACCUALTY DOING TO BUSINESS OWNERS. I was fired by Alann there marketing manger cause I had to call in, my kid was sick and had to take him to the E.R. He cussed me out and called me a dirt bag than fired me.

    • Juana C

Hello! I read your review and I’m sorry for your experience but I just wanted to say that I have been with them for a few months now and have YET to be asked to do such a thing for the company. On the contrary, we as account reps are supposed to give our merchants that join us, a form that lists all the review websites they may go on to give us a review. Positive or negative. I am not sure what your situation was but I can only say that one of the reasons I’m happy to work for them is because we are NOT allowed to lie or lead on which is not my cup of tea. I would only hope I’m never asked to do that and if so it’ll be a wrap for me. Hope this helps and yes this is a legit review :)

    • Riverside Payments

We have checked our employment records and we do not have a record of a James working as a marketer during this time frame. If you would like to disclose your true identity, we would be happy to get to the bottom of your accusations. Until then, we would just like to say that Mr. Korr has always conducted himself in a professional manner with his employees and we are confident that these claims are unmerited. That said, we have a stellar reputation with the unemployment office where we have always provided legitimate proof of any termination.
The occasion where “James” mentions underage drinking can be attributed to a fundraising event that was held to benefit Dollar For Portland, an organization that seeks donations of as little as $1 a month to help families with unexpected medical bills. We hosted pizza, beer, and soft drinks to reward our hard working staff for spending time after hours for a great cause. All employees over 21 were limited to a 2 beer max and were tracked through their employee records to ensure that no minors were consuming.

We are a very small, family owned and operated business and every penny counts. We are new to Riverside Payments Inc. and am so very pleased with there outstanding customer service and commitment to filling our needs. We were recently presented an offer by an other company that would have save us money. I presented this offer to Riverside Payments Inc. and not only did they match what the other company presented, they suggested additional ways to save money and earn credit! Thank you Amii and Dave.

  • Too Easy

Riverside is very geniue and seem hard working. I always get good customer service they are friendly and very helpful. I havent experienced anything with Riverside that would have me saying anything bad about them. I would recommend them to other business for CC processing.
