Established in 1984, ePayData is a U.S.-based merchant account provider offering merchants a range of payment solutions, including those specifically designed for non-profit organizations. At the time of our previous update, the company appeared to resell the processing services of Cynergy Data, but given Cynergy’s recent absorption into Priority Payment Systems, ePayData now resells the latter company’s services.
Before we dive in, here’s a short summary of what we’ll cover:
ePayData processes most major debit and credit cards for most business types. Their services include the ePayDonate platform for non-profits and the SurePay mobile payment platform for merchants.
ePayData’s ePayDonate platform facilitates the management of one-time and recurring donations for non-profit organizations.
The company offers multiple payment gateway options for integration with various technology systems or platforms used by businesses.
Automation in payment processing is aimed at reducing errors and increasing productivity, with features for automating billing and managing recurring payments.
ePayData’s software adjusts to different screen sizes, maintaining key features across devices, and allows payments from anywhere at any time.
The company’s corporate address can be found at 3025 S. Parker Rd. Ste. 610, Aurora, Colorado 80014. ePayData is a registered ISO/MSP of Merrick Bank, South Jordan, Utah. Michael Dinnen is listed as the owner of ePayData, Inc.

We are currently unable to locate any ePayData reviews that describe the company as a scam. In fact, the company is showing almost a total absence of reviews, either positive or negative, on all consumer protection websites. We did find one negative Yelp review from a client who describes ongoing charges after paying off a loan taken out with the company. ePayData does not currently offer loans but rather cash advances. If you have your own ePayData review to make, please do so in the comments below.
We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against ePayData. Dissatisfied clients who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.
ePayData offers phone and email support but does not currently qualify as a top-rated payment processor for customer service.
The company’s low complaint volume is indicative of either a capable and responsive support team at ePayData or the possibility that ePayData outsources its customer support to its backend processor. In the latter case, many ePayData complaints might end up on alternate online profiles. In the absence of any evidence that this is occurring, however, we are awarding ePayData an “A” in this category.

BBB Reports | 0 |
ePayData has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2012 and maintains an “A+” rating at the time of this update. There have been 0 complaints filed against this company with the BBB in the last 36 months. At the time of our last update, ePayData had received 1 positive informal review, but it should be noted that the BBB does not verify the authenticity of these reviews.
Given ePayData’s clean complaint total, we agree with the BBB’s rating in this case. Readers should be aware, however, that there is reason to be skeptical of the BBB’s rating system.

An early version of ePayData’s standard contract is available, though not much information about the company’s current contract is. ePayData does resell the services of Priority Payment Systems so it is likely that their newer contract resembles Priority’s.
Priority Payment Systems’ standard contract is a three-year service term with an early termination fee that can range from $200 to over $600, an annual fee of $129.99, a monthly minimum fee of $25, and an unspecified PCI Compliance fee. The company also appears to offer a tiered pricing structure that may not be appropriately disclosed at the point of signing.
In addition to its storefront payment processing services, ePayData also dedicates a portion of its website to advertising its virtual terminal and payment gateway services called SurePay. However, pricing is not disclosed on those services. Additional rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.
The company’s website also advertises a plan specifically for non-profit organizations. The name of the plan is ePayDonate. This service can allow non-profits to take donations in-person, over the phone, or online. however, ePayData doesn’t specify any pricing on their donation-based plan.
Given ePayData’s reliance on independent contractors, it is likely that fees will vary from agent to agent and are somewhat negotiable. Readers are strongly encouraged to negotiate for these fees to be lower or eliminated entirely to get terms to be more competitive with the cheapest merchant accounts.

Uses Independent Resellers | Yes |
Telemarketing | Yes |
Misleading Marketing | No |
Discloses All Important Terms | No |
ePayData appears to utilize a combination of in-house telemarketing and 1099-employed independent sales agents to market its services. These practices are common within the industry and often result in an increased complaint volume among merchants. In this case, though, we were unable to locate any negative ePayData reviews that mention the company’s sales team.
As another point in the company’s favor, ePayData does not appear to engage in any deceptive advertising strategies in its official materials. If you suspect that you have had undisclosed fees added to your ePayData contract, we recommend seeking a third-party statement audit to eliminate hidden fees. In addition, if you have any experience with ePayData’s sales team, please describe that communication in the comment section of this review.
According to our standards, ePayData rates as an above-average credit card processing provider and does not appear to be a ripoff. The company’s contract terms are slightly less competitive than industry averages, but a low complaint rate seems to indicate that ePayData compensates for this at least in part through its customer service. Readers are advised to carefully examine the company’s contract terms before signing up for a merchant account and to compare ePayData’s pricing to the top overall merchant account providers.
