Process America Review

Updated 1/23/2019: Process America appears to have been dissolved due to a settlement with the FTC. The company’s website is no longer active, and there is no indication that Process America is still a functioning ISO. Details on the case are available here.
Formed in 2003 and based in Canoga Park, California, Process America (process4america.com, connectnpay.com) is a merchant account provider that outsources most of its merchant account functions to outside vendors. Process America also offers many different business services, including payroll and back office business management solutions, but its merchant account service sales division is the focus of this review.
Process America is a relative newcomer to the payment processing industry. The main issue noted with Process America is the over-reliance on outsourcing many of its services to other companies. The payment gateway utilized by Process America appears to be outsourced to ConnectnPay, and Harris Bank has been contracted to perform back office functions such as reconciliation and settlement. Domestically, transaction processing is facilitated through TSYS. Process America is one of the few merchant account providers that allow high risk merchants to process electronic payments. However, high risk merchants should expect to pay quite a bit more in processing fees, including a higher discount rate and per transaction fees than less risky businesses. The company offers Interchange-plus pricing; however, high risk merchants should expect to receive pricing based on a tiered business model.

Here's How They Rate Online
Note: We have adjusted this company’s BBB rating according to our own standards. To better understand why we adjust BBB ratings, please see our Rating Criteria.
The Better Business Bureau report for Process America is currently unavailable, but as of this review’s last update (5/17/2012), Process America maintained an “A+” rating with the BBB with only one complaint reported within the previous 36 months. That complaint, which was resolved to the merchant’s satisfaction, had to do with a reserve placed on some funds. There are no complaints filed against Process America on any other consumer protection websites.
Process America appears to have no outstanding complaints, but this figure cannot be verified due to missing records on the BBB website. For this reason, we have assigned a CPO adjusted rating of “A” to this company. To better understand why we adjust BBB ratings, please see our rating criteria.
Process America Fees, Rates & Costs
A Closer Look at The Contract
Process America offers Interchange-plus pricing for most merchants and a tiered pricing structure for high risk merchants. Their contract terms are likely to be similar to those in a standard TSYS contract, which could be a negative factor if they include the oft-reported TSYS early termination fee (ETF) and automatic renewal after three years. Since Process America is free to alter these provisions as they deem necessary, and the company is not showing any public complaints that would indicate unfavorable contract terms, this review will assume that their contracts omit the ETF and automatic renewal. In any case, merchants should bear in mind that these terms, if present, are often negotiable. If you have any information regarding Process America’s merchant account contract and pricing, please leave it in the comment section below.
Process America Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs
Should You Work For Them?
Process America primarily markets itself as a processing services provider, but the company’s website also stresses its capacity to customize its services (including POS equipment) for a business of any size. Since Process America relies on TSYS for its credit card processing, the company is chiefly in the business of matching merchants with appropriate TSYS contracts and then supplying a customer support apparatus for these merchants. Although this relationship is not made clear on the company’s website, Process America does not appear to use any deceptive marketing tactics or independent sales agents, and the lack of complaints about the company indicate that it deserves an “A-” in this category.
