Over a Dozen Complaints

There are a large number of Slice Merchant Services reviews posted online, and they tend to be very polarised. We have found multiple Slice Merchant Services reviews stating the company was a complete fraud and should be avoided at all costs alongside an equal amount of reviews by completely satisfied customers. Many of the negative Slice Merchant Services reviews and complaints relate to deceptive rates and fees associated with POS equipment costs. Additionally, a large number of negative reviews on this site were posted recently, leading us to believe that Slice’s poor practices are only increasing. If you have your own Slice Merchant Services review to make, please do so in the comments below.

Confusing Equipment Contracts

There are several negative online Slice Merchant Services complaints related to the POS systems that Slice offers. These complaints often include unknown contracts and fees associated with POS systems. We believe this to be an indication of poor training of the widely-used outside sales teams that Slice employs. Clients describe being tied into 48-month equipment agreements with large termination fees, and some describe continued charges even after accounts are closed.

Slice Lawsuits and Fines

We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against Slice. Dissatisfied clients who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations and leave a review of your own in the comment section of this article below.

Slice Customer Support Options

Slice offers phone support 24/7 and a dedicated support email address. We have located several negative reviews associated with Slice’s customer service and encourage merchants to post their experiences with Slice’s customer service representatives.

Over 20 Complaints

Slice has an “A-” rating with the BBB and has received 27 complaints in the past 36 months. Of the 26 complaints, only 14 were resolved to the satisfaction of the merchant. The remaining 13 were either resolved to the dissatisfaction of the merchant or received no final response.

What Merchants Say

Slice has also received 152 reviews in the past 36 months. 20 of these reviews are 1 star, while the rest are 4 and 5 stars. One recent negative review describes issues with equipment leasing:

StartSlice is a predatory division of ***** Fargo. This is on the homepage of their site Slice Marketing, LLC is a registered ****************************** of ***** *********** N.A., *******, **. I am working with a customer on optimizing their ********************** and reviewing the StartSlice contract I was shocked. The rep from StartSlice put a small business owner that took over and existing business in a 3 year contract leasing a $400 clover mini for $59 a month. That is over $2100 for a used terminal that the previous owner had. She called to cancel and they threatened to withdraw the total lease amount from her account. When she called the first data processing to cancel they also threatened her with over a $1000 termination fee. This business does less than $20k a month. She has already paid 6 months on the contract and they refuse to let her out even though there are hundreds of options that are more affordable with better service. I have worked with small business owners for over 20 years and have never seen anything this bad for basic merchant services. There is no reason for any small business to be in a long term contract for basic credit card processing.

A “B” Performance Overall

Slice has a noteworthy amount of positive reviews; however, there is a large volume of negative reviews as well. Due to the numerous claims of falsely presented rates and unknown contract details, we have adjusted the BBB’s rating to a “B” at this time.

Surcharge Model

Slice offers credit card payment services on a surcharge model. This can completely negate all client fees associated with card processing, but it passes it off those costs to the consumer in the form of a 3.99% surcharge. The company also offers cash-incentive programs that reduce the price of items by 3.99% if the purchaser pays with cash. There are no monthly fees associated with Slice’s surcharge model; however, we have discovered reports of large Slice fees associated with POS equipment rentals.

POS System Costs & Contracts

We have located several online Slice Merchant Services complaints related to the monthly costs associated with POS systems and rates presented by Slice’s sales teams. Many describe being roped into contracts they did not agree to, being told they made verbal agreements, or findings terms that don’t match what the sales agent presented. We have located several reports of $500 termination fees and 48-month equipment agreements that were not mentioned by the sales agent.

Negotiate Contract Pricing

We have not been able to locate a Slice Merchant Services contract at this time. Businesses that have recently signed up for payment services through Slice are encouraged to leave a comment below describing their experience. Clients are again encouraged to negotiate pricing and contract terms and to read all contracts thoroughly before signing in these cases. We also encourage business owners to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant accounts.

Utilizes Independent Sales Teams

From dozens of Slice job postings for cities across the United States looking for outside agents, it appears that Slice heavily relies on outside sales agents. Considering the amount of Slice Merchant Services complaints and negative Slice Merchant Services reviews associated with its sales team and contract terms, it would appear Slice is not providing satisfactory training or sufficient oversight to its sales teams. This does not compare favorably to our list of best credit card processors.

Slice Contract Terms

The company advertises no monthly Slice fees and no credit card payment processing costs. While this may be true, there seems to be evidence that Slice loads extra costs onto POS equipment rentals. Many Slice reviews describe large monthly fees associated with equipment rentals and then seeing even higher termination fees if they wish to escape those contracts. This is a typical feature of companies that rely heavily on outside sales teams and we advise all business owners to proceed cautiously when dealing with these types of agents.

Our Slice Merchant Services Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

Slice has a unique model in terms of its surcharge-based pricing for credit card processing. This model can be very useful to some clients who do not wish to incur monthly charges or have a large volume and low average sale price, and we encourage business owners to investigate further if they believe this model would benefit their business. However, it is difficult at this time to recommend Slice based on the increasing complaints associated with misleading contracts presented by outside sales teams. Businesses need to review all documents from Slice carefully and be cautious not to agree to any verbal contracts that some of the complaints describe.

Do not work with this company or sign any contract. There sells representative are dirty and they will lie just to make you sign a 48 months contract. There devices are garbage and they will not work properly. You will try to leave and that’s when they will get you for $495 early termination fee. It’s a scam operation. They all working together and they don’t care what reason you have. Please stay away from slice.

  • Slice is a complete fraud

  • They get you to join with them by telling you that you only have to pay them a monthly payment then once you get the many machines that they send you because they don’t communicate properly and you are constantly having to send the wrong equipment back in tell they finally give you the right one then they charge their monthly payment and then they also sign you up with clover and clover charges you as well then they require an app that charges you as well that they don’t tell you about then every single time you ask them to send you the contract they say they will and they never do then if you go on seasonal hold they keep charging you even though you’re business isn’t making money due to be a seasonal business then once you are back in business they take your money from you they don’t even allow you to make payments so if you are a small business trying to make money forget it because this company will just take all of your earnings away and then you will be left with nothing I do not recommend this company to anyone once my contract is up I will be going to a better American company not this international company

Same thing happened to me. After I sold my business I was told I have to pay a cancellation fee because I was on a 48 month contract. WRONG….I never agreed to a 48 month contract and since I purchased all the equipment with clover, the software was month to month…never was I advised…this company is a ripoff!!! I wish I would have done research on them before I signed up…please beware and dont use this company, they have hidden fees and will screw you….I will never use them again and I will warn everyone not to use them as well…

WARNING!!! Never sign up with Slice!!!
Misinform and misrepresent regarding their fees and the contract.

  • I was considering joining the Slice Sales team, but everything the job listing stated sounded either too good to be true, or just odd. Nothing was clearly mentioned about the 3.99% surcharges to the vendors customers. Maybe passing fees to the customer is the way of the future, but it seems a bit unethical to me.

I want to comment that I fell for the scam, today I only realized that I had a 48-month contract with Startslice.com and with First Data Merchant also 48 months, I always asked if there was a contract and they always told me no, then I trusted, I signed where They told me and so I fell for the scam, so I join an action lawsuit in case we can do it. Meanwhile we must enter the media, such as Facebook, Instagram and warn about this scam

    • Can I join you? I felt for that same scam and I’m thinking of lawsuit

These guys are a complete scam. Never a mention of a 48 month contract for a clover register you can buy for $400.00. Never a mention of an additional charge from Clover too. They even promised a $1000.00 rebate. Total scam. Stay away!

Wow wish had seen this months ago like back in November pretty sure I just got taken on a ride with this company too or the bunch of companies that make it up because there’s one that does the collection of payment there’s one that does the leasing of the equipment there’s one that does the services and apparently I’m contracted into all of them without realizing it that third-party salesman really pulled the wool over my eyes I’m only just today starting to find out how bad of a situation this really is but I’m sure I’m one like some of the others that just really got scammed

  • J Gibson

    Jo Jo's SIMPLYEATS

THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY EVER, STAY AWAY FROM THEM. THEY HAD ME TO SIGN UP WITH THEM BACK IN NOVEMBER 2021. THEY DECEIVE YOU WITH THEIR LIES BY TELLING YOU THEIR ARE NO HIDDEN FEE’S NOT TO MENTION THE FUNDS THAT THEY CONSTANTLY TAKE FROM YOUR ACCOUNT. I HAD TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT TO KEEP THEM FROM TAKING MONEY IT. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR EQUIPMENT THEY SENT THAT I NEVER USED AND I TOLD THEM THAT MY BUSINESS WAS CLOSING. THEY STILL HAVE NOT PICKED UP THEIR EQUIPMENT AND THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME 500.00 FOR EARLY EQUIPMENT TERMINATION. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT LET ME KNOW.

      Hello there,

I’m sorry to hear about your experience with “Slice”! I too am having issues and would be interested in that class action lawsuit you mention! This company is sneaky, they blatantly lie and led me to believe they were another company also called SLICE-

If you receive this message – please feel free to reach out to me [email redacted] and we can work on that class action lawsuit.

Hi Carmelina, slice took out $7,352.00!!!! out of my business account last year. I am pursuing to figure out which path to take to get my monies back. Just thought you might want to know. And if so I can keep you a breast.

Absolutely do not use this company!!! They are very bad business!!! They partner with Clover but yet the two got to different criteria when it comes to lease agreement. Clover will you that you got a 30 day trial with the device, but if you try it and decide you don’t want it within the 30 days Slice will charge you 500.00 to discontinue which makes no sense. I get a trial run with one, but the other is charging 500.00. Stay away from them!!

  • Dwayne T Carter

    Dean's Organic Longevity

I’m having problems with everything with this My merchant number is saying that it’s not good I wasn’t explained that it was a 48 month agreement And I can’t get nobody on the phone because I do not have my merchant number

  • Sam

    United Auto

Horrible company, full of scam. They never explain to you fully of the charges for the customers in the amount of 3.99%. For a small business that is already struggling this will prevent customers from coming to your business. I wish I had read all these complaints before setting an account with them. Hope karma gets them and they lose all their business. This is so much stressful as no Manager or Supervisor contacts back to help or fix the issue. Biggest regret of my life and I will go to any length bringing many other people that have been scammed by this company to the court and settle this once and for all. This is some B.S to play with people at this time of age. I will make sure I put these complaints in every social media I can get and gather all the people that have been scammed by this company and pull them to the court once and for all. They will have to change their ways and stop playing around with businesses. All you guys that work for this company feel happy feeding your kids and family with stolen money from people whom are already struggling. Karma will get you guys all pretty soon. I will not settle until they take their equipment back and if I see single charge I will spend as much as I can on a lawyer and courts but will make sure you guys understand its not funny to scam people. First of all I will be going after whomever have given them the license to run this kind of business.

  • Michael L. Larson

    Gardening America LLC

I switched to this company back in November of 2021. The sales team said no hidden fees from sling “BUT” they never explained the total charges from Clover the debit card processing company which they charge $99.00 terminal fee upfront and a $29.00 per month, and (FDMS) First Data Merchant Service if you don’t do a minimum amount of sales they charge your account upwards to $25.00.. All their transactions go through ACH Bank card. This company refuses to work with you and it seems to me they don’t give a darn about helping me and working with me. Also you are stuck with a four year contract. It’s all about thier bottom line. “MONEY”.. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I am being extorted from your company and I am filing a police report if I can’t get a resolution! I am missing funds since December. Over 16,000 dollars and I will be filing a complaint in court as well if this is not resolved immediately!

  • They started off OK But after a couple charge backs They began to hold funds. I’m a fairly new customer I had 20 transactions in a month time. With 2 small charged back amounts in which I didn’t dispute Because they were telephone transactions. Slice placed my other incoming transactions on hold after processing and withheld funds and closed my account. I don’t know of this to be of industry standards and could very well be.. Nevertheless in my opinion Slice sucks they have piss poor customer service. All of their representatives are Outsourced 3rd party individuals who have very little to no training at all in company policy and we’ll tell you anything 2 gets you off the phone. Like with many of the other Reviews I’ve read. There are definitely Hidden fees And non-disclosed Contractual Obligations. It is hard to speak with a live person to speak with a live person who knows what’s going on. All of their internal communication is through Email. Therefore you always have to wait, Or be called backTo have even the most Basic of information resolve. At the end of the day if you have other options Choose someone else for your for your processing needs.

We are currently going through the exact same thing! They’ve held our funds for over a week now and all they do is send you from one person to the next with nothing and I mean nothing accomplished! They are holding over $20,000.00! How is this remotely legal? We are also a small business so the impact of them holding our funds is huge!
