UPDATE 3/4/2019: Five Star Merchant Services now operates primarily under the name of TransGlobal Payment Systems, although the Five Star Merchant Services brand has not been fully removed from the company's website. Please see our TransGlobal Payment Systems review for up-to-date information about the company.

Five Star Merchant Services, also known as Delta Payment Solutions, (fivestarmerchant.com) is a merchant account provider for retail outlets, restaurants, e-commerce, and mail/telephone order businesses. Five Star's website prominently states that it is powered by First Data, which means that the company is likely a reseller of First Data contracts. The company processes all major credit/debit card brands, offers point-of-sale equipment sales and leasing (terminals, wireless devices, PIN pads), check services, ATM services and gift/loyalty programs. Two addresses were found for Five Star Merchant Services and these are: 11111 Wilcrest Green Suite # 435, Houston, Texas 77042 and 2600 S. Gessner, Suite 504 Houston, Texas 77063. Five Star Merchant Services is a registered ISO/MSP of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, California.

Five Star Merchant Services Customer Reviews

Here's What Their Clients Say

As of this update, we are unable to locate any Five Star Merchant Services reviews that describe the company as a scam or ripoff, but Five Star is showing one complaint in the comment section of this review that expresses frustration with its contract terms and difficulty cancelling service. Also, at the time of our last review, there was a publicly available complaint by a former employee of Five Star who alleged that he had not been paid his commission rate by the company. Five Star responded to this complaint by explaining that this former employee had been terminated due to improper behavior, and the company mentioned a pending lawsuit against the employee. This complaint is no longer available online. Since Five Star is powered by First Data, it is possible that First Data handles the bulk of Five Star’s customer support and therefore receives the bulk of Five Star’s complaints on its online profiles. Since it is difficult to chart whether or not this is occurring, we are awarding the company a score of “A” in this category.

Five Star Merchant Services Online Ratings

Here's How They Rate Online

Note: We have adjusted this company’s BBB rating according to our own standards. To better understand why we adjust BBB ratings, please see our Rating Criteria.

Five Star is not an accredited business of the Better Business Bureau and is presently without a rating. Zero complaints have been filed on the BBB within the last 3 years. The absence of a rating is due to a lack of sufficient information on the company, as two or more inquiries by the BBB have gone unanswered. We have weighed the company’s performance in the other categories of this review against its spotless complaint record with the BBB to come up with a CPO-adjusted grade of “A” in this category. For more on why we adjust BBB ratings, please see our rating criteria.

Five Star Merchant Services Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

There is currently very little information available about the standard Five Star contract. The company is powered by First Data, so it is likely that its standard agreement resembles that of its processor. The Five Star website advertises a three-year price guarantee, which seems to suggest a typical term length of three years. We located one complaint in the comment section of this review by a merchant who expressed general frustration with the rates and fees charged by Five Star, but no specific figures were provided. If you have any knowledge of Five Star’s standard contract terms, please leave that information in the comment section of this review.

Five Star Merchant Services Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Five Star appears to hire independent sales agents and ISOs to market its services. This is a common practice within the industry that tends to result in a higher complaint rate for a company, as it is difficult for any business to monitor the conduct of independent sales entities. However, we were unable to locate any negative Five Star Merchant Services reviews that specifically mentioned its sales team. The company also does not appear to engage in any deceptive advertising in its official materials.

Our Five Star Merchant Services Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

Five Star Merchant Services rates as a better-than-average credit card processor by our standards. The company is showing very few online complaints but is likely to offer contract terms that do not differ significantly from the standard First Data agreement. It is worth mentioning that Five Star Merchant Services could potentially be confused in search results with Five Star Commerce, an Arizona-based company with a high number of online complaints. The two companies do not appear to be related.

Sorry but I have to say the one person that has a bad review about this company is wrong! I’ve called and they answer right away and fast turn around on answers and they waive your annual fee, so need to ask and get the right phone number, as I love this company! Very low rates no complaints at all!

Don’t trust this people with your business. They take daily fees and at the end of the month they take another percent. They act as your partners in business because they take profits just like you and even more.
I tried to contact them many times to get some information about charges take out of my checking account but no luck;)
After try many days to contact them I decide to go for a different company. Even to close your account they give you a hard time.
    Stay away from them.
