CBD Credit Card Processing Has Arrived
Cannabidiol oil (also known as “CBD” or “CBD oil”) is a derivative of the cannabis plant that has been shown to have the potential to treat certain ailments such as seizures, nausea, inflammation, and anxiety. It is extracted from low-THC strains of cannabis to form a non-psychoactive oil that can then be stored in capsules for accurate dosing. Cannabis is currently a Schedule I drug in the United States, which makes it illegal according to federal law. However, partially because of CBD oil’s possible medical value, states are beginning to legalize the production and sale of this substance. As a result, CBD business owners are scrambling to find a CBD payment processor that can process merchant account payments.
CBD Merchant Services Are Still Evolving
Few merchant processors accept CBD businesses and their ability to provide merchant services to the CBD industry changes frequently and without notice. There are even fewer CBD credit card processors that we would recommend based on their pricing, transparency, and customer support. Most sellers of this product should be prepared for higher-than-average credit card processing rates due to the elevated risk associated with their industry. Businesses serving this industry may also encounter rolling reserves or occasional funding holds. However, the security and convenience that comes with accepting credit cards at your CBD business may make it worthwhile. If you are a vendor or CBD business who is hoping to open a CBD merchant account, be aware that we will continually update the list below with providers that have signaled that they may be able to process card payments such businesses. Please keep in mind that CBD merchant processing is an ever-changing landscape at this time, and that major banks have been known to purge CBD businesses from their portfolios unexpectedly.
Proceed With Caution To Avoid Processing Scams
We have received reports from victims of merchant account scams that have resulted in losses totaling tens of thousands of dollars. In a few cases these business owners have even reported losses in the hundreds of thousands. In nearly every case, the victims are led to believe that a merchant account provider can process credit card transactions for cannabis products over and above CBD products. These “processors” falsely categorize a CBD business as another business type, such as a convenience store, collect a month’s worth of transactions and then disappear with the business’ money. There is no recourse for the business may face large fines from the card processing networks. Most scammers claim to be “off-shore” providers that do not subject you to the same restrictions as domestic credit card processors. We recommend avoiding off-shore providers.

EMB sucks. I had them for my CBD business and all went well till they decided not to do CBD anymore. They shut down my account and now are holding my money blaming it on Evolon. Last email I got yesterday said that they are waiting on some of the batch to settle. How is this possible as it usually only takes at the most 2 days. I do not recommend them and they charge way too much to handle my money. Ripp off.

Called every company listed and I own a Hemp CBD Business I was told by every single one that they do NOT work with hemp or CBD companies!
You might want to check your facts.
I just spoke to Melissa Daleske at PaymentCloud, and they are not doing any dealings with CBD businesses.
Any ideas on how to get a business banking account that will do business with hemp based products like CBD Oil? I have a few high risk merchants willing to set up credit card gateways but they require a business banking account, which is the big hold up for me.

Dear Valued Merchant,
Touching base with you regarding your CBD merchant account application. As you are aware our current solution has been via Swift; an offshore bank. Your patience and loyalty throughout this process has been greatly appreciated. However, we regret to inform that our offshore solution via Swift has been cancelled and is no longer an option at this present time. This cancellation not only includes Swift but also, Pay2 and iCanpay.
Please DISREGARD any emails approval/or otherwise from iCanpay as they are not a true processing solution for your SIC code and eMerchantbroker has not come into agreement with this company therefore we do not represent any of their practices or products.
As always your business and time is our main priority therefore we would like to present our eCheck solution to assist with accepting electronic payments. This solution is more affordable and also can be integrated with Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento shopping carts. Please contact me directly for if you have any questions concerns or would like to get started with eCheck!
Thank you,
