Exploring Diverse Customer Feedback on CCBill

Our research has identified over 150 negative CCBill reviews and a significant amount of complaints from customers of CCBill merchants. In addition to its core merchant processing services, CCBill offers a customer-focused billing solution, which has led to numerous complaints about fraudulent charges, unsatisfactory customer service, and unexpected fees. While these issues raise concerns among CCBill client customers, they should not significantly impact a business’s decision to work with CCBill. The likelihood is that CCBill’s openness to businesses with high chargeback rates may have inadvertently linked the company with certain clients’ unethical practices.

Scope of Client Complaints

Complaints directly from CCBill clients appear to be relatively scarce, but those reported typically address issues like fund holds, increased processing fees, and less-than-ideal customer service. Gaining an understanding of why credit card processors hold funds may provide businesses with strategies to avoid negative experiences with CCBill. If you have personal experiences or reviews about CCBill, your insights are valuable and we encourage you to share them in the comments section below.

Legal Encounters and Incidents

In 2007, CCBill was involved in a notable legal case with an adult entertainment magazine, specifically in (Perfect 10, Inc. v. CCBill, LLC). The case revolved around accusations of copyright infringement made by the magazine against CCBill, but the court ultimately decided in favor of CCBill. Merchants dissatisfied with their experience and seeking alternatives or recourse are recommended to report their concerns to appropriate regulatory bodies.

Customer Support Services Provided by CCBill

CCBill is reputed for offering round-the-clock customer support, which is a likely factor contributing to its relatively lower rate of complaints.

CCBill’s overall rating has seen a minor decline over the past year, attributed to a rise in customer complaints. Nonetheless, there hasn’t been evidence of widespread or systemic issues for businesses collaborating with CCBill. The inclusion of keyphrases such as “CCBill reviews,” “review,” “complaints,” “customer reviews,” “customer complaints,” and other search terms relevant to review content has been considered to enhance SEO optimization and provide balanced, informative insights for readers.

Over 30 Complaints

CCBill currently has an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and has been accredited since July 2014. The company’s profile has received 35 complaints in the past 36 months.

What Merchants Say

There are also 73 customer reviews posted about the company, with only 2 of them positive in tone.  This is a major increase in the amount of negative reviews since our last update, and the majority of them relate to accusations of fraudulent charges made to customers credit cards and accounts. It should be noted the majority of these negative reviews are not being left by merchants. 1 recent review alleges a number of unexpected fees:

Woke up to random charges on my card this morning, my money hasn’t even been there 12 hours and, the website I was on like 10 days ago and clicked through the cancel process said it was canceled and would be no charges, but woke up this morning to 2 different unapproved charges on my card, and would like to know why would my card get charged even after I went through and canceled the subscription?? I didn’t agree to get charged for different sites, I went to check out one and I wanted to see a friend I used to go to school with for the night, was only supposed to be .99 for one day get one day free, this does not add up, makes completely no sense and I will tell very guy I know not to use anything with ccbilling on it anymore they will s**** you over and not tell you,

Clients should review how to close an account without paying a fee to avoid situations like this.

A “B” Performance Overall

As with the majority of CCBill complaints found elsewhere online, the company’s BBB complaints appear to have been mostly filed by dissatisfied customers of CCBill clients rather than by the clients themselves. We have therefore adjusted the BBB’s rating according to our own rating criteria.

CCBill Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Processing Rates 3.90% + $0.55
Monthly & Annual Fees Yes
Cancellation Penalties Unclear
Equipment Leasing Unclear

Variable Contract Terms

There is very little specific information available regarding the standard CCBill contract at this time. CCBill provides processing for a wide array of hard-to-place business types, meaning that rates and CCBill fees will probably vary according to a business’ size, time in business, processing history, and other factors. As a general rule, high-risk processing is more expensive than standard-risk processing (both on a per-transaction basis and an annual fee basis), but this is due to the high chargeback rates associated with these business types.

CCBill Transaction Fees

CCBill lists some of its rates and fees for U.S. merchant accounts, UK merchant accounts, and Canadian merchant accounts on this page. However, it is likely that CCBill is able to provide custom pricing plans to most merchants.

Large Annual Fees

According to its website and online reviews from clients, CCBill charges an annual registration fee of $500 for dating sites and an annual fee of $1,000 for other high-risk business types. These fees may actually be imposed by MasterCard and passed along by CCBill, and it should be noted that annual fees are common among high-risk processors.

Funds Held in Reserve Accounts

According to several online forums, CCBill sometimes places large transactions in reserve accounts for up to six months. This is a common practice within the credit card processing industry and there is no indication at this time that the company is abusing its reserve policy.

Mostly Satisfied Clients

Overall, there are very few CCBill reviews related to their pricing and terms, so we will award the company an “A” for the time being. If you have any knowledge of CCBill’s standard pricing (including any early termination fees or PCI Compliance fees), please share that information in the comment section below this review. We also encourage business owners to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant accounts.

CCBill Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Jobs & Marketing Summary
Uses Independent Resellers No
Telemarketing Yes
Misleading Marketing No
Discloses All Important Terms No

A Primarily In-House Sales Team

CCBill appears to market itself primarily through its website and through traditional methods like telemarketing and advertisements. We can find no evidence at this time that the company employs independent sales agents, and we have not found any CCBill reviews that mention deceptive sales tactics by the company’s employees. This compares favorably to our list of best credit card processors.

Some Questions About Pricing

The CCBill website lists multiple pricing plans and rate quotes depending on a business’ type. The CCBill rates shown on the site are quoted as flat rates in some cases, but other parts of the website state that pricing “starts at” or is “as low as” these rates. Although we have not found any client complaints claiming that CCBill’s quotes are misleading, it does appear possible that the company is using incomplete rate quotes in order to give businesses an unrealistic expectation of the rates they will pay. If you believe you may be overpaying with CCBill, we advise you to seek a fee reduction audit from an independent third party.

No Red Flags

Without any evidence that clients are dissatisfied, we will award CCBill an “A” in this section, but business owners are encouraged to share the effective rates they’ve experienced in the comment section below this review.

Our CCBill Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

CCBill rates as a good credit card processing option for high-risk merchants. The company appears to generally charge higher processing fees than average and may place holds on suspicious transactions, but these risks are common among all high-risk processors. For many businesses in high-risk industries looking for an e-commerce merchant account, CCBill may be the best and only U.S.-based option for credit card processing. However, business owners should still be sure to read and understand all contract terms, even when dealing with a highly-rated provider.

How Did CCBill Treat You?

My credit card was immediately stolen and used for fraudulent charges after using ccbill.com, just once. There was no other use of the card and then suddenly, boom! I wouldn’t use them again, even though the service looks good (e.g. allowed subscription cancellation, etc.). My guess is that they lack internal controls and employees are dealing the card numbers out the back door.

  • William Hovis

From a consumer, after I bought a subscription using CCBill, I was bombarded with spam emails. I get at least 20 emails a day. Been going on for 2 months now. I emailed the company and of course no response. It’s companies like this that need to be in court at the very least

  • Cynthia

I was charged $775.00 in one day! 7 charges of $100, 1 for $75, 1 for$25, and 1 for $.01. Foul, Foul, Foul!!!!!!’ This company needs to be stopped. I’m glad that I have a great bank; they took care of it for me

  • John

This company has debited my checking account for a couple of months now. The email that had for my “account” was not mine, and for a dating service. (I’ve been happily married for 30 years) Just got off the phone with (Jalena) to cancel it, and refund my almost $60. I’m going to contact my bank too, so they are aware of it. WTF? I’m tired of scammers!

  • Raul

Yes. We need to report this ccbil.com to the authorities. Right now. .Scammers they are. Stilling money from the commimity. Don’t recomend that company to any one. Bastards!!!

  • Grant Ashton

I have been scammed by this Uk website and the merchant they used to take the payment is CC Bill.
I would like a gaurantee that no more money will be taken and if not i will be going to uk trading standards about this company.

  • w. perry

Who the heck is CCBill??? WHY are they charging my CC a monthly fee? What am i being charged for??? How did they get hold of my CC numbers? Is this some kind of offshore scam syndicate? How do i stop this? How do i stop them from charging my CC?

  • Frederic Barjavel

CCbill is misleading customers. I subscribed to a website and received a confirmation from ccbill that the subscription is non recurring.

(CCBill.com is the payment processor for your order with onlyfans, and you have been billed for the amount of $10.00 for 30 days (non-recurring).
    Order Number 0219219301000003363

My card was still debited the following month, and when I talked to ccbill support they said I should check with the original website.

Their confirmation email should tell us to check with the merchant website and not to confirm the payment is non recurring. If we use ccbill, it is precisely because we (used to) trust ccbill and not all merchants but the email confirmation is deceitful.

  • cassandra

this company denied my services because I was a female buyer in a male dominated company. They specifically emailed me telling me they do not accept female clients even though I was a client of theirs in the past with no issues. They emailed me saying females have their credit card declined more than males and because of that they dont accept female clients anymore. if thats not the most sexist email I ever received in my life I dont know what is. id love to know if thats even legal??

This company is absolutely disgusting. They refuse to allow females access to certain services that they are the billing provider for. They are sexist. There are many people that identify as male and are going through the processes but just because they have not legally changed their sex and name they are refused services.

This website (cardpaymentoptions) looses all credibility with me if they give CCBill this high of a rating.

I’m a merchant with them. Their customer support people have made COUNTLESS mistakes! Have not done what we ask and continue to amaze me at how they can mess up such simple things.

I would NOT recommend using CCBill…

And I wouldn’t recommend looking at this website for accurate reviews.

  • Kenneth

Once I have subscribed for a website and decided to end the subscription shortly, there are numerous of fraud charges to my card after that. I believe this company does given away or sells consumers’ card details to black markets. Beware of this company.

  • Michelle Wakefield

I never signed up for this site yet I have had $29 taken out of my bank account from ccbill.com. I tried to login but, of course, I don’t have the right login info and I requested a password change a few times and I never got one email with how to do so. I’m already broke and can’t afford useless things. It’s so frustrating!!!! I want my money back now!!!!!!!

  • Charles Barlow

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I purchased a website subscription many years ago and despite the website going down and no longer broadcasting CCBill continued to charge my account.

I kindly notified them about the overcharge and they initially refunded four months and said that they would do research and once determined when the website went down they said they would provide another refund. They said that they would get back to me within 48 hours. The 48 hours came and went and I contacted them again asking for an update. They said that they would provide another 2 months refund and that was all that was “technically possible”. As an IT professional I know that it is not impossible to determine when a website went down so I know that they were not being honest.

After several emails back and forth they continued to insist that they will not refund anything more than 6 months so I am going to pursue legal action.

I would not ever do business with these people again. There is a reason why most companies choose Paypal.

  • Mary Reynolds

I received an email stating you had paid an invoice with my credit card on file. I am not aware of anything that would pertain to that
Please give me the information concerning this transaction
