Note: As of 2023, the DalPay website appears to be down. It is unclear what this means for the status of the business. We are monitoring the situation and will update as we get more information.
DalPay is an Iceland-based merchant account provider specializing in e-commerce solutions for small and mid-sized businesses and with a specialization in travel companies. The company is owned by Snorasson Holdings and is a sister entity to the high-risk payment processing specialist CCNow.
DalPay has made a number of acquisitions, including CashU in 2014 and mobile solutions provider Handpoint in 2022.
DalPay is divided into two organizations: DalPay Gateway and DalPay Retail. DalPay Gateway appears to exclusively focus on providing e-commerce software for airlines and travel businesses, while DalPay Retail offers international e-commerce plugins for all retail business types. Both divisions operate under the DalPay brand, but DalPay Retail is more likely to be the entity that a merchant deals with.
DalPay offers its own payment gateway that is specifically targeted at airlines. According to their website, “DalPay Gateway, via its TPOS platform, has many years of airline payment processing experience. DalPay’s Batch Capture Service is for onboard sales on aircraft, ferries, and other locations needing offline capture of card sales where connectivity for real-time authorization is either unavailable or undesirable.”
DalPay is a credit card processing provider that offers payment solutions for businesses across various industries. This unbiased review aims to shed light on the services provided by DalPay and their role in the payment processing market.
One of the key features of DalPay’s payment processing services is its support for multiple currencies. This feature enables businesses to expand their reach to international customers by accepting payments in a variety of currencies, making it easier for customers to shop and pay in their preferred currency.
DalPay emphasizes the importance of fraud prevention in its payment processing services. The company employs advanced security measures and follows industry best practices to help protect sensitive data and minimize the risk of fraud during transactions.
DalPay offers a virtual terminal service that allows businesses to process payments via phone or mail securely. This feature is particularly useful for businesses that do not have a physical card reader or require an alternative payment method for remote transactions.
Although DalPay is based at The Harbour Square Building, Hafnartorg, Dalvík, Iceland, it appears that the company still does most of its business with U.S. merchants and converts all payments to USD by default. The BBB also lists a Minneapolis address for the company at 333 Washington Ave N STE 300, Minneapolis, MN 55401. The company’s current processor and acquiring bank are not listed on its website. Bjorn Snorasson is listed as the CEO of Snorasson Holdings.

We are currently able to locate over 50 negative DalPay reviews, some of which refer to the company as a scam or a ripoff. Most of these DalPay complaints mention CCNow rather than DalPay, but we are treating the two brands as essentially the same entity for the purposes of this review. Some of these DalPay complaints are from 2010 or earlier and were posted by frustrated customers who purchased products from the CCNow MarketPlace. These customers complain that they paid for defective products or products that were never shipped, and they describe DalPay’s customer service department as unhelpful and possibly nonexistent. If you have your own DalPay review to make, please do so in the comments below.
We have received a large influx of complaints related to CCNow and DalPay fund-holds. Clients consistently report that the company has simply not paid them any money for up to a year, and the amounts that have been withheld sometimes total in the thousands of dollars. Fund-holds are not uncommon among high-risk and international credit card processors, but there appears to be a persistent issue with advance communication of DalPay’s fraud prevention policies. This has lowered DalPay’s score in this section.
Given the rapid increase in complaints over the past year, we have lowered DalPay’s score as a warning to high-risk businesses. DalPay also takes a slight hit for the number of complaints about fraudulent sales taking place through the company’s online marketplace. These complaints consistently cite a near-complete lack of customer service, indicating that DalPay Retail may not be the most desirable venue for e-commerce.
We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against DalPay. Dissatisfied merchants who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.
DalPay’s website provides an automated customer service request form for clients as well as a dedicated email address and telephone number. Its telephone service operates between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm GMT. A fee of $100 is attached to expedited customer service requests. Interestingly, some of the merchant complaints filed against the company claim that DalPay unfairly sides with customers and doesn’t alert merchants to chargebacks in a timely fashion. Many complaints against the company address unresponsive customer service. For these reasons, DalPay rates poorly when compared to merchant accounts known to provide great customer service.

BBB Reports | 1 |
The Better Business Bureau does not maintain a profile for DalPay at this time, but it does have a profile for CCNow that we consider to be applicable to this review. CCNow is not an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau and currently has an “A-” rating based on 1 complaint filed within the last 36 months.
In addition to that 1 complaint, CCNow has previously received 1 informal review on its BBB profile, which is negative. The review makes an allegation of fraud:
These people are liars and thieves. I have been with CCNow since 2000 and did not have problems until a foreign company snorrason holdings acquired CCNow. Their FRAUDulent reports indicate that deposits have been made to my account for all sales made through CCNow, but no payments have been made since January 2017. They posted NO EMAIL NOTICE of cessation of service of their shopping cart/payment processing (I guess they found another means of stealing profits from hardworking small business owners) as of July 31st 2019. They do not answer the phone or reply to emails, yet their website is still soliciting signups. BEWARE ALL SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS! CCNow is FRAUD and appropriate legal action will be pursued.
Clients in these situations understand how to report instances of possible fraud to the relevant supervisory organizations.
Given the company’s ineffectiveness in answering complaints as well as the basis of its informal reviews, we agree with the BBB’s rating.

DalPay Gateway does not disclose its pricing, but DalPay Retail lists a large number of transaction and incidental fees. Just like CCNow, DalPay Retail charges a standard fee of 4.9% plus $0.40 per transaction and a CASHU fee of 7.0% plus $0.50 per transaction. DalPay fees do not include any setup fees, monthly fees, batch fees, dormant account fees, or early termination fees. Other incidental fees include an account compliance charge of $29 that is refunded after account verification, a chargeback fee between $25 and $50, a SWIFT bank wire fee of $10, a supplier error fee of $15, a custom checkout design fee of $100, and an expedited technical support fee of $100 per hour.
The company’s per-transaction fee of 4.9% plus $0.40 is much higher than most of its e-commerce competitors, but DalPay also supports a much broader range of acceptable business types, including digital goods and auction-style sellers. Its setup fee compares favorably with Authorize.Net but is higher than free services like Stripe or Braintree, which are free. Overall, DalPay’s pricing is much less competitive than the highest-rated e-commerce merchant services providers, but it’s only slightly more expensive than other offshore merchant accounts.
Overall, the company’s transaction fees may make it unreasonably expensive for many standard-risk merchants. Its low-commitment contract and the broad range of acceptable business types could be appealing to international, high-risk, and digital goods businesses, but a growing number of complaints suggest that the company may not even serve these sectors well. We also encourage business owners to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant accounts.

DalPay primarily markets itself through its website and through strategic partnerships. There is no indication at this time that the company employs an in-person sales force, and we cannot find any DalPay reviews that describe misleading or aggressive sales tactics. This compares favorably to our list of best credit card processors.
There is also no indication that DalPay engages in deceptive advertising in its official materials. The DalPay Retail website lists a wide range of potential rates, although these DalPay rates should not be considered comprehensive. If you suspect that DalPay is charging you undisclosed fees, we recommend seeking a third-party statement audit to find and eliminate hidden charges.
CCNow rates as a below-average credit card processing provider for e-commerce businesses at this time. The company’s complaint volume has risen dramatically in the past years due to fund-holds. Furthermore, customers who order from the CCNow MarketPlace are reporting a troubling pattern of fraudulent transactions. At this time, there is little reason to recommend against CCNow from a standard-risk business’ perspective, but high-risk businesses may be at risk for a negative experience and should instead consider signing up with a top-rated high-risk merchant account provider.
