A POS Solution Backed By Worldpay and TSYS

Erply provides a POS solution for merchant accounts that can be either cloud-based or installed locally. This allows the software to function in both online and offline modes, unlike other POS systems that require an active internet connection to function. Although data is stored via cloud connectivity, the software's main features can be used offline. According to the company's website, Erply relies on Cayan, WorldPay, and TSYS for its payment processing. Rates and fees associated with those payment processors come in addition to those Erply charges for its POS solution.

Erply designs its software to cater to the needs of retail merchants. However, the company also makes POS solutions that suit coffee shops, grocery stores, and other large inventory merchants. Extensive inventory tools are at the core of the POS in respect to its targeted demographic. Erply works for small to mid-sized and larger businesses. The company offers different plans depending on the size and scope of business. Those plans include a range of features such as inventory, sales, and multi-store management tools.

Location and Ownership

Despite doing most of its software development in Tallin, Estonia, Erply is headquartered at 302 West 37th Street, Floor 6 New York, NY. The company also maintains offices throughout the world in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, New Zealand, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. Depending on whether a merchant uses Cayan, TSYS or WorldPay for its processing, the company relies on either US Bank, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, California or through Global Payments or Fidelity National Information Services, the company that own TSYS and WorldPay, respectively.  Kris Hiiemaa is listed as the company's CEO.

Low Complaint Total

We have only been able to find 11 negative reviews about Erply available online. There is a range of issues left in the complaints. Many take issue with how complicated the POS software is to use. Others mention issues with technical errors. However, the most frequent complaint pertains to the company’s customer service. Many merchants complain that support is slow, if not unresponsive, and ultimately are not a valuable asset in resolving technical issues.

Erply Lawsuits

We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against Erply. Dissatisfied merchants who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.

Erply Support Support Options

According to its website, Erply provides dedicated customer support via a dedicated phone line and email address between 8 am and 11 pm EST. The extent of these options fails to reach the level of what the best merchant accounts for customer service offer. The limited timeframe that support is available, as well as the slow response time, are the basis of many complaints against the company.

A “B” Overall

Erply has a low complaint total and a clean legal history. However, its issues with customer service are a factor that lowers the company’s score. Erply receives a “B” rating in this category.

3 Different Monthly Pricing Plans

The Erply website lists 3 different month-to-month pricing plans. Merchants can also pay once annually and save 20% off the cost. The first plan offers the company’s POS software without inventory management tools. This option costs $49 month-to-month or $468 annually. This option includes 2 user accounts, 1 point-of-sale system, a mobile POS solution, Cayan integrated payments, and other features.

The second plan offers merchants inventory solutions online and offline for $89 per month and $828 per year. This option also includes extensive inventory tools. However, this option does not include Erply’s POS software. These features provide merchants with an existing POS platform with add-ons for inventory and supplier management, but should not be sought after by merchants who need to integrate a POS system into their business.

Erply’s most comprehensive plan provides its POS software and completely equipped with inventory management tools for $119 per month of $1,188 per year. The company specifically markets this plan to high-volume and multi-store retailers. The plan includes a mobile POS system, an inventory database, advanced reporting tools, a customer database, and other features. Though this plan is suitable for multi-store retailers, the company also provides an enterprise-level plan. Pricing for that plan is customized depending on the size and scale of a merchant.

Additionally, the Erply website advertises that it charges rates beginning at 2.20% plus $0.10 for transactions made through its POS system. It is unclear whether the company charges a PCI compliance fee or early termination fee, however, the fact that the company allows merchants to choose month-to-month plans suggests no early termination fee is applicable.

Multiple, Flexible Options

Given the company’s option between month-to-month or annual pricing at a 20% discount, Erply provides merchants with options that best suit their needs. Providing merchants with variable options also allows merchants to choose between a basic POS solution, inventory tools, or a combination of both. These factors, as well as rates beginning at 2.20% plus $0.10, are the reasons behind why the company receives an “A” in this category.

Erply Sales Tactics

The Erply website does not reflect that the company employs independent resellers. The company does not have any public complaints regarding in-house sales practices.

Transparent Pricing Plans

Erply does not advertise any misleading information about its rate or fee structure. The company lists its 3 different monthly plans with both month-to-month and annualized pricing. Including those monthly fees, each plan discloses the inclusive features that distinguish one from another. The company also discloses that its transaction rates begin at  2.2% plus $0.10.

An “A” Overall

The absence of complaints against Erply’s in-house sales practice reflects well on the company. The combination of these factors merits that the company receives an “A” in this category.

Our Erply Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

A Comprehensive Option for Retailers

Erply sets its POS solution apart from competitors by emphasizing the comprehensive inventory management tools it features. While those tools are integral to the Erply software, the company also provides basic POS solutions as well as the option to integrate its inventory tools into a merchant’s existing POS system. Additionally, Erply allows merchants to avoid long-term contracts by paying for its services on a month-to-month basis. Merchants who wish to commit to the Erply POS software longer have the benefit of saving 20% of what merchants would pay over a year by going month-to-month. The inventory management latent features at the core of the Erply POS system makes it viable for retailers, especially those processing payments from high sales volume sales.
