UPDATE 3/1/2019: The Valtek Solutions website is currently unavailable, and it appears that the company may no longer be an active brand. Other companies owned by Robert Ensminger, including Alpine Payment Systems and Executech Lease Group, appear to still be in business, so it seems that Valtek has simply been retired as a DBA. If you have any knowledge of Valtek Solutions’s current status, please share it in the comment section below this review.

Valtek Solutions (valtekcorp.com) is a Vancouver, Washington-based merchant account provider that serves standard-risk business types in the United States. Founded in 2007, the company shares a location and ownership with Alpine Payment Systems and Executech Lease Group. Valtek does not list any backend processors or acquiring banks on its website, but it is probable that the company utilizes Chase Paymentech and First Data as its primary processing networks. Robert Ensminger is the president and CEO of Valtek Solutions, which is headquartered at 9120 NE Vancouver Mall Loop, Suite 140, Vancouver, Washington 98662.

We are currently able to locate approximately eight negative Valtek Solutions reviews, and none of these reviews describe the company as a scam. Nearly all of the available complaints have been filed regarding incessant telemarketing calls from the company, which is consistent with some of the complaints filed against Alpine Payment Systems. Valtek’s complaint rate is surprisingly low for a company under the same ownership as Alpine Payment Systems, and it’s possible that Valtek offers a level of customer service that Alpine does not. Based solely on the company’s complaint rate and the content of the available complaints, we have assigned it a “B+” in this category. Valtek appears to offer live phone support and email support to its merchants.

Valtek Solutions is currently listed with the Better Business Bureau under the name “Columbia Advance Group.” Columbia Advance Group appears to be an inactive DBA or subsidiary of Alpine Payment Systems, but the BBB has combined Columbia Advance Group, Valtek Solutions, “Alpine Advance Group,” “Alpine Marketing Group,” “Columbia Advance Group LLC,” and “Columbia Marketing Group” into the same profile. This profile is showing an “A+” rating without BBB accreditation at this time and has received zero complaints in the past three years. Given the absence of complaints on the company’s profile, we agree with the BBB’s rating of “A+.” Merchants should be aware, however, that Alpine Payment Systems has received 23 complaints through the BBB in the past three years.

Valtek Solutions does not disclose its pricing details on its website, and there aren’t any public complaints that describe specific rates or fees charged by the company. However, it is unlikely that Valtek’s standard contract terms are substantively different from those offered by Alpine Payment Systems. Alpine is known to offer three-year contracts with automatic renewal and large early termination fees, PCI compliance fees, and annual fees. Alpine also sold long-term, non-cancellable equipment leases through Northern Leasing Systems at one point, although it’s unclear whether this is still happening. It’s more likely that Valtek leases equipment through Executech Lease Group at this time.

Strangely, there are no Valtek Solutions complaints that directly mention the company’s pricing and fees. This may be because Valtek simply uses the same paperwork as Alpine Payment Systems. It is also possible (though unlikely) that Valtek Solutions offers entirely separate contract terms from Alpine Payment Systems. In any case, it appears that merchants are less likely to file a complaint about Valtek’s pricing than about Alpine’s pricing, so we will give the company a slightly higher grade of “C” until more is known. If you have any specific knowledge of the standard Valtek Solutions contract, then please share that information in the comment section below this review.

Valtek appears to primarily market its services through referrals, telemarketing, and outside sales agents. It is unclear whether the company’s outside reps are independently contracted, but its partner provider Alpine Payment Systems is known to employ independent sales agents. We cannot find any Valtek Solutions complaints at this time that cite deceptive tactics by the company’s sales agents, but there are a handful of complaints that describe persistent, aggressive sales calls from Alpine/Valtek representatives. Complainants state that they are unable to get the company to stop calling and that the callers often hang up when pressed on their reason for calling. It’s worth noting that the company appears to present itself interchangeably as both Alpine Payment Systems and Valtek Solutions in these calls.

The complaints filed against Valtek seem to be more related to annoying phone calls than to nondisclosure or misrepresentation by sales agents. However, Valtek is so closely tied to Alpine Payment Systems and Executech Lease Group that we do not expect its sales practices to differ significantly from its partner companies. We will therefore assign Valtek the same “C” rating as Alpine Payment Systems in this category until we are presented with a compelling reason to change our grade.

Valtek Solutions Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts and Opinions

Valtek Solutions rates as an average merchant services provider according to our rating criteria. The company’s complaint volume is much lower than expected, but its grade is impacted in large part by its close relationship with Alpine Payment Systems. Our rating may be subject to change once more information is available about Valtek Solutions’s pricing and organizational structure.

– One Star deduction if the processor is suffering from moderate client complaints.
