BankCard Central Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Cancellation Penalties Yes
Monthly & Annual Fees Yes
Processing Rates 1.00% - 4.99%

Two-Year Contract

The standard BankCard Central contract is a two-year agreement through Merrick Bank with an early termination fee of either $250 or $395, a monthly minimum fee of $25, a monthly support package fee of $15, and a PCI Compliance fee of $4.95 per month.

Industry-Standard Pricing

These contract terms are more or less average for the industry, but they may be subject to variation depending on a merchant’s business type, size, and time in business. Merrick Bank, who provides BankCard Central’s contracts, in turn, relies upon TSYS for its back end processing. This means that the rate structure of their agreements likely resembles that of a standard TSYS merchant agreement. TSYS offers listed a swipe rate of 2.50% plus $0.20 per transaction and a keyed-in rate of 3.50% plus $0.20 per transaction.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

In addition to its storefront payment processing services, BankCard Central’s merchant agreement also has a section pertaining to virtual terminal and payment gateway services. However, pricing is not disclosed on either of those services. Additional BankCard Central rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.

The company’s rating has been slightly raised in this section due to the absence of complaints related to its costs. Merchants are encouraged to read all contract terms before signing and to negotiate for the best rates and lowest fees.

BankCard Central Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Jobs & Marketing Summary
Employs Independent Resellers Yes
Advertises Deceptive Rates No
Discloses All Important Terms No

Outside Sales Team

It appears that BankCard Central utilizes independent resellers, sub-ISOs, and outside sales agents to market its services. Generally speaking, this practice makes it difficult for a company to monitor and regulate its sales team, which often results in elevated complaint rates. In the case of BankCard Central, however, it does not appear to be a problem.

This compares favorably to our list of best credit card processors.

No Deceptive Quotes

At the time of this review, we are unable to locate any BankCard Central reviews that mention a negative experience with the company’s sales team, and BankCard Central does not appear to engage in deceptive advertising strategies in its official materials. If you suspect, however, that BankCard Central is overcharging you, you can double-check your monthly bill with a third-party statement audit.

A Solid Option for Most Business Types

According to all available information, BankCard Central rates as a reliable merchant services provider. The company is not showing any complaints on this site or elsewhere, and, aside from its use of independent resellers and average contract terms, we were unable to locate any red flags that should cause merchants to have reservations about BankCard Central. Even when dealing with highly rated companies, merchants are encouraged to aggressively negotiate contract terms and to compare their quotes to those offered by top-rated merchant account providers.
