Note: As of 2023, the NXGEN Payment Services website redirects to that of Payroc. Previously it was stated that the two companies would operate under their own brands, so it is currently unclear if the NXGEN brand is still in use. If you have any information, please let us know in the comments below.

Company Overview

Established in 2002, NXGEN Payment Services is a merchant account provider for businesses within the U.S. The company offers retail, mail order/telephone order and internet electronic payment acceptance options. Several years ago, NXGEN launched a joint Canadian venture with a company called Paylogec, and the two companies operated together for a time under the name of NXGEN Canada. Since then, the partnership has ended, resulting in separate DBAs for the two companies. NXGEN USA now conducts international business under the name NXG International Payment Services, while the company formerly known as Paylogec now goes by the name of NXGEN Canada and is based at 13351 Commerce Pkwy Unit 1218, Richmond, BC V6V 2X7, Canada. As of October 25, 2019, NXGEN Payment Services has been absorbed into the Payroc brand, but both companies will continue operating under their own brands.

NXGEN Payment Services Customer Reviews

Here's What Their Clients Say

Customer Reviews Summary
Total Online Complaints <10
Live Customer Support Yes
Most Common Complaint N/A
Recent Lawsuits No

Low Complaint Total

We are able to locate only 2 negative NXGEN Payment Services reviews outside of the BBB, and one accuses the company of being a scam. This low complaint total indicates that the company has an active and available customer service department. If you have your own NXGEN Payment Services review to make, please do so in the comments below.

NXGEN Payment Services Lawsuits

We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against NXGEN Payment Services. Dissatisfied clients who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.

NXGEN Payment Services Customer Support Options

NXGEN appears to offer a dedicated support form on the “Contact Us” section of its website, along with a general contact number. Though NXGEN’s support options appear to be well-monitored, they aren’t sufficient to qualify the company as a top-rated payment processor for customer service. There is some likelihood that NXGEN’s clients are directing their complaints at Elavon and interacting primarily with Elavon customer support. Since there is no way to verify whether this is the case, we award NXGEN an “A” in this category.

NXGEN Payment Services Online Ratings

Given the fact that it has received no complaints, we agree with the BBB’s rating in this case.

NXGEN Payment Services Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Cancellation Penalties No
Monthly & Annual Fees Unclear
Processing Rates Variable
Equipment Leasing Yes

NXGEN Pricing

NXGEN offers two pricing plans on its website. The first, “Instant Processing,” comes with a 2.65% transaction fee, no monthly fees, a $25 terminal, is both Android and iPhone ready, and has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The “Custom Pricing” plan has variable rates and fees, comes with a dedicated U.S.-based account specialist, and allows clients to select POS systems and e-commerce solutions based on their needs. NXGEN does not disclose its full fee list or merchant agreement, but business owners should be aware that additional fees, like PCI Compliance fees and monthly minimum fees, may apply.

Additionally, the company offers a zero-fee processing pricing model. This allows merchants to surcharge credit card payments in lieu of charging typical transaction rates.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing

In addition to its storefront payment processing services, NXGEN Payment Services also dedicates a portion of its website to advertising its virtual terminal and payment gateway services through Converge. However, pricing is not disclosed on either of those services. While the company charges a 2.65% transaction rate to in-store purchases made through the gateway, it lists its e-commerce services under its customized pricing plans, not the Instant Processing plan associated with that 2.65% rate. Additional rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.

Avoid Equipment Leases

A company representative has stated that the standard NXGEN contract is an Elavon contract with no early termination fees. NXGEN allows clients to rent, lease, or purchase equipment through its website, and there is some evidence that the company is partnered with First Data Global Leasing (one of the worst-rated companies on CPO) to supply its equipment leases. Business owners are encouraged to purchase their equipment to avoid an expensive long-term lease. If you have any knowledge of the standard NXGEN contract, please leave that information in the comment section of this review.

Independent Sales Team

NXGEN appears to market its services through the use of independent sales agents. Generally speaking, this is a standard industry practice that often results in high complaint rates among clients. A handful of recent NXGEN Payment Services reviews from businesses and sales agents appear to describe conditions similar to a standard industry “hiring mill.”

Employee Complaints

A few complaints from sales agents describe a difficult commission-based structure, an unrealistic workload, and questionable sales tactics. Here is an example of one such complaint:

Business practices are intentionally deceptive. Upper management rolls out new “programs” for merchants which are designed to scam them out of more of their money. They offer “opt-out” periods (usually 2-4 weeks) for these programs, and then automatically enroll merchants in them.

Slight Cause for Concern

It is also worth acknowledging that many complaints that would have been directed to NXGEN may have instead been filed against Elavon. Ultimately, the complaints from employees and merchants alike that mention potentially deceptive practices have earned NXGEN a “B” rating in this category. If you suspect that NXGEN Payment Services is charging you undisclosed fees, we recommend seeking a third-party statement audit.

Our NXGEN Payment Services Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

NXGEN Payment Services rates as an exceptional credit card processing provider according to our standards. The company is showing a low complaint total outside of the BBB with none explicitly calling the company a ripoff. NXGEN’s apparent partnership with First Data Global Leasing does provide some cause for concern, so business owners should read their contracts carefully and compare all of NXGEN’s terms to those of low-cost payment processors to get the best deal.

    ARMS OF LOVE ENTERPRISES, INC.

I have a Non-profit Merchant Account, and it appears that NXGEN is the only one making a Profit by accumulating daily Interest off of our funds. They have horrible Customer Service, a whole week has gone by and NXGEN is still holding on to my funds. Every time I call a recording comes on saying: No Agents are available at this time 24/7. I will be accepting BITCOIN payments goinf forward, the funds are available instantly!!!

Over billing, advised me time and time again that I would receive a credit for over billing. Bills kept coming in no credit. Overcharging for the amount of machine we had on site and refused to credit. Then after switching to another Elavon provider they continued to bill us for 4 months!!!! after we discontinued services! I am in the process of trying to get a human on the phone to credit for that and most likely will not ever see one!

Been trying to get in touch with these people for 6 months now. We are still receiving monthly rental charges for a P.O.S. machine we returned in June. Our invoices are coming from Knoxville TN. No one from customer services has replied to my emails or phone calls to their 1800 number based in Toronto ON.

this company is messed up and it is not reliable at all. they lie and screw your business up. few years ago 2 individual walked into my shop mislead me and misinformed me into doing business with this company. first they offered me better rate and service with merchant debit machine and then later on they started changing me random fees and they signed me up for a 5 yr term with the most corrupted company NORTHERN LEASING for the equipment. They have even given them my personal information , my SIN number and now that trash company is destroying my credit all because of this trash company. i was paying free money to 3 different freaking company. I was paying to ELAVON , NXGEN and northern leasing every month untill i found out about them and tried to terminate it but couldnt since they hooked me up in stupid contract and untill now getting charges. i would never ever recommend anyone to do business with these crooks…
