Note: As of 2023, the NXGEN Canada website is no longer functioning. It appears the company has been absorbed into Paystone. We will no longer be updating this review. Please see our Paystone review.
NXGEN Canada is a merchant account provider based in Delta, British Columbia. The company primarily serves Canadian businesses and is in no way affiliated with the U.S.-based NXGEN Payment Services despite the similarities between the companies’ logos. The company also advertises Amador Business Computers, Talech, CardX, and Poynt as POS solutions.
Established in 2005 as “Paylogec,” the company launched a joint venture with a U.S. company called NXGEN Payment Services in 2009, and the two companies operated in Canada together for a time under the name of NXGEN Canada. The partnership ultimately ended, which resulted in NXGEN Payment Services changing its name to NXGEN International Payment Services/NXGEN USA. The company formerly known as Paylogec, however, kept the NXGEN name and operates as NXGEN Canada to this day. To be clear, NXGEN Canada is the subject of this review, while NXGEN International Payment Services and NXGEN USA have no current affiliation with this company.
Originally called Zomaron, the London-based fintech company has been sweeping up smaller payment providers in its effort to rebrand and reorganize as Paystone. NXGEN Canada was one of four companies acquired by Paystone in 2019, along with Swift Payments, POS West, and Data Candy. It is unclear at this time whether or not the brands will maintain some individual presence or will be consolidated into the Paystone brand.
NXGEN Canada is headquartered at #1218 13351 Commerce Parkway, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada V6V 2X7 and is a reseller of Elavon. Don Andrews is the president of NXGEN Canada. Tarique Al-Ansari is the president and CEO at Paystone. Paystone is located at 3200 Wonderland Rd. S. London, ON, N6L 1A6.

We can find only a couple of negative NXGEN Canada reviews on the usual consumer protection websites, none of which accuse the company of being a scam. Two NXGEN Canada complaints mention long holds and slow response times from customer support, but they appear to have been isolated incidents. In general, NXGEN’s low overall complaint total indicates that it provides adequate support for its merchants. If you have your own NXGEN Canada review to make, please do so in the comments below.
We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against NXGEN Canada. Dissatisfied merchants who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.
The NXGEN Canada website lists a phone number for customer support and a general email address, and these channels appear to be directly serviced by NXGEN representatives rather than by Elavon support. Although its number of support channels is lower than other payment processors, its available channels perform at a level consistent with the top-rated credit card processors for great customer service.

NXGEN Canada currently has an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and is not accredited. The company has received 0 complaints in the last 36 months. It also has not received any negative informal reviews.
Given NXGEN’s complaint total and resolution ratio, we agree with the BBB‘s rating at this time. However, merchants should note that there are good reasons to be skeptical of the BBB’s ratings.

Cancellation Fee | None |
Monthly & Annual Fees | Yes |

There is very little publicly available information about the standard NXGEN Canada contract. The company is a reseller of Elavon, which means that it does not charge an early termination fee, but other details like contract length and pricing structure are not disclosed on the company’s website. For reference, a typical Elavon contact assesses a swipe rate of 2.65% plus $0.19 or a keyed-in rate of 3.50% plus $0.19 per transaction.
It is also possible that the company leases equipment through Ladco Leasing, which can sometimes result in merchants getting locked into long-term, non-cancellable terminal leases. A company representative has informed us that NXGEN offers interchange-plus pricing with no early termination fees and a PCI compliance fee of $8.50 per month ($24.95 quarterly). The company also advertises a zero-fee pricing plan that surcharges merchants to offset transaction fees.
In addition to its storefront payment processing services, NXGEN Canada also dedicates a portion of its website to advertising its virtual terminal and payment gateway, offered through Converge (formerly Virtual Merchant). However, pricing is not disclosed on either of those services. Additional NXGEN Canada rates and fees, including gateway fees, technical support fees, batch fees, and additional transaction rates typically apply to these e-commerce services.
In general, there are no public NXGEN Canada complaints to be found regarding the company’s pricing and fees. We are therefore inclined to award NXGEN Canada an “A” in this section for the time being, and it’s possible that NXGEN’s pricing is competitive with even the cheapest merchant accounts. If you have any knowledge of the standard NXGEN Canada contract, please share that information in the comment section below this review.

Employs Independent Resellers | Yes |
Advertises Deceptive Rates | No |
Discloses All Important Terms | No |
NXGEN Canada appears to market itself primarily through a combination of independent sales agents, vendor relationships, and strategic partnerships. Generally speaking, the use of independent agents tends to result in higher complaint rates for a company. In this case, however, we cannot find any negative NXGEN Canada reviews that accuse the company’s sales reps of deceptive conduct. This may indicate that the company exercises a greater-than-average degree of control over its agents’ conduct, or it could be a sign that some NXGEN Canada complaints are instead filed against its processor, Elavon.
This compares favorably to our list of best credit card processors.
As a point in the company’s favor, it does not appear to list any misleading rate quotes or guarantees in its official materials. If you suspect, however, that NXGEN is overcharging you, you can get a second opinion on your monthly fees with a third-party statement audit.
NXGEN Canada rates as a reliable merchant services provider according to all available information. The company’s contract terms appear to be better than average for the industry, and its low complaint total suggests widespread satisfaction among its merchants. As always, merchants are encouraged to read and understand the terms of any contract before signing up for service.

The Elavon representative we signed up with in 2014, returned in May 2019 and said our term was up. He removed our P.O.S. machine and gave us an upgrade, at the time he also switched us to First Data Corp. and Northern Leasing. However, we are still paying a monthly fee of $23.50 per month for the original machine. Who do we talk to ??

After much research by my Business manager we found NxgenCanada. They are friendly and informative as to how the system works. Application was easy to complete no upfront fees and costly monthly fees. Contract was easy to read. Questions asked were answered quickly. We now have our POS system and are very pleased.
