Company Overview
Cash App (formerly known as Square Cash) is a cash transfer service launched by Square (and parent company Block) in October 2013. Like Venmo, Cash App allows individuals to send cash amounts or Bitcoin to each other using a dedicated mobile phone application or via email from a linked debit card. It also enables businesses to get paid through the app for Square’s usual price of 2.75% per transaction paid by the recipient of the transaction. In 2021, Square acquired buy-now-pay-later service Afterpay.
Cash App Data Breach 2022
In April 2022 it was announced that Cash App had experienced a major data breach, allegedly exposing over 8 million users’ names and brokerage account numbers, in addition to other information. Breaches like this frequently lead to legal actions, but as of the writing of this review nothing has surfaced yet.

The process for making payments is simple: download the company’s Cash App from the iTunes or Android app store, create an account, enter the amount you want to send or request, select a recipient or payer, and hit send. Square will send a message to the recipient’s email address immediately, notifying them of the payment, and the transaction will process within two days. All personal transfers through Cash App are processed for free.

Cash App Payment Processing- Businesses Can Use It, Too
Square Cash’s solution for businesses requires merchants to set up a dedicated “cashtag,” which is a landing page where customers can enter their card details and pay the business directly. Cashtags are intended to be easily shared payment methods that would work best for the personal services industry, non-profits, and short-term fundraisers. Each payment accepted via a Square cashtag costs 2.75% of the payment amount to process, which is roughly on par with most mobile payment processing services. In 2022, it was announced that the IRS would require reporting of transfers of over $600 on Cash App and other peer-to-peer payment apps, which will heavily affect the taxes of those using the app for large transactions.

Major Customer Support Issues
We have located nearly 400 negative Cash App complaints in the comment section of this review alone, some of which accuse the company of being a scam. The Cash App complaints overwhelmingly fall into two categories: sudden, unexpected fund-holds and slow or nonexistent customer support. Both issues are hallmarks of all of Square’s products, but Cash App is especially vulnerable to such complaints due to the fact that it is available to the general public. If you have a Cash App complaint, please let us know in the comments below.
Cash App Scams and Hacking on the Rise
It has been widely reported as of 2020 that scams and hacking related to Cash App accounts are on the rise. While the scamming and hacking do not come from Square or Cash App themselves, the nature of the accounts makes them highly susceptible to such practices, which should be noted by potential merchants. Additionally, it appears that many people find Cash App and Square to be less than responsive to inquiries about fixing such issues and recovering funds, so much so that the FTC has had to look into the company. Many of these such issues arise from fake customer support numbers listed online, so it is highly advised that users of Cash App only contact the company through their official website and app.
Cash App Lawsuits and Fines
A lawsuit was filed against Square in October 2020, alleging a violation of the federal Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA) by Square, particularly calling into question the Cash App part of the company. This lawsuit is connected with the above-mentioned scams, claiming that Cash App and Square purposefully make it difficult to impossible to recover funds lost in scams and hacking. Additional lawsuits have been brought against parent company Square, most of which deal with its holding of funds. Another here deals with allegedly mistransferred funds. Dissatisfied merchants who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.
The aforementioned 2022 Cash App data breach will possibly lead to legal action.
Cash App Customer Service Options
Complainants state that Square freezes transactions without warning if the company suspects that a payment may be illegal or fraudulent. This issue is compounded by the fact that Square almost exclusively provides e-mail support to deactivated users, which offers a slow response time and minimal assistance. Some users who can still obtain a customer code can get a representative on the phone, but many people report that this method is only marginally more helpful.
Related: Users Think Venmo Is Better Than Square Cash. Here’s The Comparison.
It’s Only As Secure As You Are
Square Cash currently has an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars in the Google Play Store and a 4.7 star rating in the iTunes App Store. Most of the negative reviews on these forums describe fund-holds and malfunctions, but another major concern throughout most Square Cash reviews is the potential security hazard posed by the service. Someone who obtains access to a user’s Square Cash-linked account can easily send themselves money, although this amount will be limited to either $250 or $2,500. This risk can be mitigated by users who change their account settings to require entry of the card’s CVV code.
A Confusing and Potentially Risky Approach to Fraud
Considering the company’s quickness to freeze charges it thinks are fraudulent but its alleged unwillingness to recover funds from actual instances of fraud, we recommend that merchants consider carefully whether they are willing to risk their funds with Cash App. It is reasonable to assume that Square’s liability is likely limited when it comes to fraudulent transactions, and a savvy hacker would probably be able to reroute funds before Square could reverse them.
No Savings Over Normal Square Processing
In 2015, Square launched a feature called Cash Pro for business owners who wish to collect payments through Square Cash (now Cash App). Cash Pro enables merchants to send customers to a payment page using a “cashtag,” which is linked to the merchant’s dedicated Square Cash profile. Customers can pay at this page using a debit card regardless of whether they have a Square Cash account. Cash Pro costs 2.75% per transaction, which is identical to Square’s standard pricing and comparable to most mobile payment options.
Some personal users who process large payments regularly through Square Cash have reported that Square will sometimes attempt to reclassify their accounts as “Cash Pro” accounts if the company believes that users are conducting business transactions through the app. This increase in cost seems to put both parties in a difficult position. Users insist that they should be entitled to the free service, while Square unilaterally imposes a 2.75% fee on transactions that were previously free.
Hard To Reach Anyone
The primary concern with the service, however, is the fact that Square provides virtually no live customer support. In the event of a fraudulent payment, it is unlikely that a Cash App user will be able to reach an account representative in time to reverse the payment (see How to Contact Square). Since Cash App collects sensitive personal information, including a user’s debit card number and bank information, users may be wary to hand this information over to an entity without live support. In fact, nearly all negative reviews of the service cite concerns over security or privacy.

Over 6,600 Complaints
As of this update, the Better Business Bureau is reporting a “B” rating for Cash App despite 6,660 complaints filed in the last 36 months. This is a rise of more than 1000 complaints from the total at the time of our last review, which itself is more than 1,000 more than the review before that. This massive uptick seems to be attributable to the rise in scams and hacking mentioned earlier in this review and to the huge use of the app in the COVID-19 crisis. 5,260 of these complaints were due to a problem with a product or service, 991 were billing or collections issues, 268 were due to advertising or sales problems, 99 were issues with delivery, and 42 concerned a guarantee or warranty. The BBB has also added a note stating that it has reached out to Square regarding Cash App and unemployment benefits, regarding scammers fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits and transferring those funds into Cash App accounts. The company responded that Cash App experienced multiple technical issues that disrupted services, including funds availability. Cash App maintains a status page at status.cash.app, which the company updates when a widespread issue is identified and where customers can view updates on ongoing or recent disruptions to service.
The BBB reports that Square has resolved 3,536. However, closer inspection reveals that many of these “resolved” complaints have simply received a copy-and-pasted standard response from the company claiming that the customer was contacted by Square already. Many users have submitted replies to these “resolutions” saying that they are still having the same issue.
What Merchants Say
Cash App has also received 503 informal reviews on its BBB profile, all but 7 of which are negative in tone. Unsurprisingly, considering what we have discovered about the company’s fraud policies, a huge number of these reviews concern scams and fraudulent charges. The most recent review cites poor customer support:
Was selling something online and buyer wanted to pay with cash app.I have used in the past so had no issues. They took $300 of my money then wanted me to send $700 more to upgrade to a business account even though I had no restrictions on my account.Still getting bot e-mails asking for $700.Don’t use I stopped for sure.
Merchants and users will be better off with top merchant service providers with great customer service to avoid poor customer support in an emergency.
An Adjusted Rating
Given the company’s complaint total, resolution ratio, and BBB notice, we have adjusted the BBB’s rating to a “C.”

Free and Easy for Personal Users
Cash App is incredibly easy to use and costs nothing for personal users. Anyone with an email address and debit card can sign up for it and begin sending money to friends quickly. The service advertises that it takes only seconds to make a deposit, but users should plan on a one to two-day deposit window just to be safe. Instant deposits are also available but have a fee of 1.00% to 1.50% attached to them. Any device that sends emails can use Cash App, making it widely accessible for all users. Square initially holds users to a processing limit of $250 per week, but users can increase this amount to $2,500 by providing additional personal information to Square and linking to a Facebook account. For personal users, Cash App’s pricing, setup, and payment delivery are very competitive when compared to other mobile apps for sending money. Still, we always encourage merchants to check out our list of the providers of the best merchant services.
Business Owners: Beware the Square
Business users can take advantage of Cash App’s convenience and simplicity, but the service’s 2.75% charge on debit card transactions far exceeds the typical interchange fees charged to process debit cards. As a result, Cash App for business is not competitive with a traditional merchant account in terms of pricing or scalability. In addition, a common Cash App complaint for personal users and business users is unexpected fund-holds and account freezes from Square, which is a direct result of the company’s unwillingness to properly vet users during the sign-up process. Most businesses should not consider Cash App a reliable or cheap option.

Cash App is a subsidiary service of Square and is marketed as a free service primarily for personal users. The product’s pricing model and sales approach make it unlikely that Square can mislead users about its costs, and there are no public Cash App complaints that allege deceptive sales practices from Square.
…But Watch Out For Holds
A large number of users’ funds have been unexpectedly held, but Square’s terms of use (visible on the company’s website here) clearly outline Square’s policies regarding fund-holds. It is therefore unlikely that the company is intentionally deceiving users in order to hold their funds. Fund-holds are a frustrating practice within the payment processing industry, but there are ways to avoid fund-holds with Square. While it is clear that Square could do a better job of explaining its fund-holding policies, the company does not appear to engage in intentional misrepresentation or nondisclosure. This compares favorably to our list of best credit card processors.
Square Cash Review Summary
Our Final Thoughts and Opinions
Fine for Casual Use, Trouble for Serious Business
Cash App offers a simple, free peer-to-peer cash transfer service that is a worthy competitor to apps like Venmo. The service’s ease of use may have come at a slight cost, however, since there is very little in the way of customer service for users. Personal and business users should weigh the convenience of Cash App against its potential risks and consider all of their options for sending money.

Cash Ap is the worst. They are not FDIC insured. When you have a problem and you want to talk to someone on the phone good luck. This company is a joke and they literally just steal your money. Your money is not safe in these accounts. The literally do absolutely nothing not even send you a new card of yours has been compromised.

I recently tried using my cas app are for a transaction and it denied it in which I had the funds on the card. I called cash app support & they responded saying Amy account has been hacked & informed the to go to a local Walgreens and purchase a $50 Google card and give them the14 digits off back to unlock my card. I responded no I will not purchase a card to get my own funds I will go to the nearest police station. After that conversation my card started to work. I felt as if it was an employee that was trying to hack my account.

My sister sent me 100.00 about a week ago and it has not been deposited yet. I called and spoke with a representative and was told it would be into my account within two to three hours. It’s been 24hrs and still not received. I called again and spoke with the same representative and he had no answer as to why I haven’t received the money. After I asked him what was the problem, his response was I cannot talk to you anymore and hung up on me. That was very rude and unprofessional. Friends watch out.

I downloaded the “Cash App” through the Google play store and at first glance the reviews on there were positive. I sent my son 3 money transactions, however he only received 1. I tried to get some help to find out where my money was. I searched for customer service, a help line, something, someone, anyone that could give me answers, but all I found was an anonymous email. I sent them an email several days ago but apparently my email has gone

My account has been hacked twice. First time they didn’t get anything cause the amount tried to take I didn’t have. But next day after a friend payed me, someone took $90 out of my account. App says to contact the person for a refund, but it won’t even allow me to make a request to the persons name. When I physically type the name if for the request nothing comes up to be able to make the request. They’re not even in my list of contacts from past transactions. It’s like they non existant and don’t have an account but could take money from me.
Was a fan of the app, but obviously the Cash App(square cash) has very little consern for their customers security, or being able to help. There is no way to contact them. As in its not even possible. How this is possible for a large business like this is beyond me. Pretty much them giving the middle finger to a account customers.

This can’t be legal… cash app deposited my cash out in my acct. They mistakenly deposited my cash out twice. Then they reversed the deposit twice taking what the mistakenly gave me and what was to be deposited in my acct. They asked for a screen shot of my bank statement showing the transaction. I emailed them the screen shot. Then they came back with” we didn’t initiate the reversal so you need to dispute it with your bank”. I am so furious. This has stop! They are stealing money!

Tried to cash out and someone took the money from my account first and then made it look a deposit, so really it was a wash. They took the money. I was unable to get thorough on email..found a phone number and the person on the other end wanted control of my device. When I refused, he told me to go fuck myself. A friend of mine has had 3,000 taken from her with no resolve to date! Huge scam

i have a question to anyone that may have had an issue that i am having with square cash. 175 was to be deposited into my checking by the end of the day on Friday july 6. after waiting all day i called square cash spoke with eric he said that there was a problem with the sever however he could process a refund that would take about 120 days because the amount had to be over 300.00 before they would be able to do a refund the same day. Per eric i needed to go and buy a google play card for a 125.00 to make up the total of 300.00 and he would guarantee i would have the total of 300.00 within a couple of hours. This was around 6 yesterday. Stupid me i did as requested in fact eric call me twice while i was in walmart. i came home and called him gave him the needed information from the per paid card
after about 3 hrs i call back he was gone for the day but i was guaranteed that my money was on it way.
as of 8 am this morning i still do not have my money. now when i talk to eric he said that my cashme out account had been compromised and he could not place any
money in to that account. please read what i am about to say very closely they now want me to give them an additional 200.00 and i would be refunded a total of 500.00 i yelled at him and told him there is no way i
am going to give them one dime more i
would be filing a complaint on monday with the US Trade commissions and the New York attorney general he said good luck and hung up but call me back to see if i
changed my mind. i know this sounds made up but all is true as far as i can tell square cash is a legitimate company. I think there maybe people who are scamming customers. possible without the company knowledge

sent to Cash App: I have tried to get ahold of you guys multiple times. What you are doing is wrong.
I am business owner my client used her cash app card at my business. I refunded her, her money. That was July 20th. It has not been sent back to her back. What is going? How can her money just be floating around in cyberspace?
Why is there no number to call you. You need to hire people and be professional this is a money transaction site.
–Now This is what happened to me since your company is not doing what it should in terms of having a customer service line. Your “emails” are not cutting it.
So ultimately what happened to me was I found a “Cash App” contact number and spent 4 hours on the phone trying to figure out where my clients money is. “You” asked me for my credit card information, was told I need to put $350 on a google play card and that once it was received my client would receive the $650 owed and in addition the $350.00. Well they never put any money back. So “Cash App” stole from me. Also I then started to notice that money was taken out of my personal cash app account without my consent and my banking accounts were completely depleted. So now my personal banking accounts are at 0. There were over $3,000 that was wrongly taken out!!!!!
I need you to refund my clients money of $650.00. I also would like to be compensated for you not having a phone number and me having been forced to call a fake number because you don’t have one. This is crazy. I will be reporting you to bbb and the FTC, and posting negative reviews across the internet. I will also take legal action if this is not dealt with.

On Memorial day weekend, I lost my cash card. I discovered a rip in my wallet, which let me know that it must’ve slipped out while I was out with my mother. Once I figured out it was lost, I went to disable my card, and come to find out someone made multiple transactions with my card, and my whole balance of $240.00 was now gone from my account. This money that I trusted with Square Cash was my rent money. I have been trying to keep in contact with square support, but I keep getting the same prompted questions, and finally, I get a decision showing that because my cash card was presented at the time of purchase, I cannot get back any of my money.
I have been trying to fight this case for weeks now. I already stated that someone STOLE MY CARD, so of course my card is going to be presented at time of purse. I love square cash, I find it convenient for me sending money to and from my family members. It is disheartening that I am a victim of someone finding my card, and now I have to pay the price for it. I have been constantly contacting the support team, getting the same prompt emails, then finally someone messages me saying “oh we haven’t heard from you so we closed your case.”
I feel used, I feel unheard, and I feel like I do not matter. People are giving this company all their money and their personal banking information. With everything that is going on in this world, we are still choosing to do business with them. We expect to be protected when things like this happens. The fact that I am being put at fault for something that I could not control, and the company that supposedly protects against these things, is now looking at me saying I am “shit out of luck” is messed up beyond measures. They all are allowing us to put our money with them, but if something happens we are screwed.

I noticed this morning small withdrawals from my account overnight that had SQC*SQUARECASH as the withdrawer (one withdrawal for $4, three withdrawals for $5). I do not use Square Cash– didn’t even know what it was until I looked it up online. I called the bank immediately, as these were not my transactions. The bank confirmed someone was fraudulently withdrawing form my bank account using Square Cash. They say it is common– the thief starts with small amounts to test if you’re paying attention or not, then cleans out your account. Thankfully I caught it and the bank closed my account and credited the fraudulent withdrawals. But if it’s “common” for thieves to use Square Cash to steal from other people’s ban accounts, there is something seriously wrong with this company’s security. On that point, I would neither use it nor recommend it.

I found out today that cash app upgraded me to a business account last year without my permission or knowledge. While my profile still said personal at that so how this was done is beyond my understanding. now they are telling me I can’t get more than 30days of fees THEY ILLEGALLY CHARGED ME back. ON a business account I NEVER UPGRADED to. Please be sure to check the fees being deducted from you as cash app will rob you without your permission. I’m looking into the BBB to see what can be done. And will never refer anymore business to cash app they are a scam company that will rob you blind if you aren’t aware.

Cash app is a scam I had someone send me money on cash app so my banking info isn’t on there so I have a cash card from cash app, I went to the gas station where the card was declined so I checked the app and seen the money was still there so I drive home and call customer service and I talked to a very rude lady she asked for my card number PIN number and zip code as soon as I gave her that information she hung up on me so I called back and they kept hanging up on me so I checked the app and what do you know the money was gone and now I can’t get in touch with anybody there. I advise anyone DONT USE THE APP!!! Thank god my banking information is not on their site

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of the so-called “Square Cash.” I found this website out due to a lovely phone call I received yesterday. Turns out I’m a victim of fraud. I was hacked, scammed, and robbed! These guys stole $175 straight out of my bank account. Sender was Jeff Wiggins (240-425-7423),and the Recipient was Genesis (973-816-5457). These 2 stole and when contacted, Jeff states its the wrong number, Genesis states he can pay me back but he needs time, and when following up with him, he ignores me completely. Delete the app people! Putting ur bank info and personal info is risking you to get hacked, scammed, and stolen from. I was a victim of a serious fraudulent crime and the Cash App customer service will take their sweet time and not respond to you at all. They will steal and keep your hard working money. Do not risk it at all. You are risking what you have if u end up downloading and using this app. I definitely do not recommend using this app. Once again, this is a scam. These guys also hacked into my mother’s bank account and stole $800 from her. Seriously, your info is not protected, and you will be just another victim like me and my mother.

I don’t use this app a lot, but my boyfriend and I use it sometimes to send money back and fourth to each other. Until recently I haven’t had a problem with it but like I said I don’t use it a lot. On May 18, 19, & 21 my bank account was hit from the cash app from someone named Marcus for a total of $143. I don’t even know anyone named Marcus and definitely hasn’t sent him any money.
I contacted my bank and reported fraud on this person and also deleted my cash app off my phone. I will never use this app or another app that’s like it ever again. I still can’t figure out how he was able to transfer the money from my account to his without going on my phone and getting on the app.? I also had a 4 digit pin lock on the cash app so no one could get access to the app from my phone. I’m very disappointed and mad at this app!

I only wished I had done my due diligence before downloading and using this app to send money to my son in college. I sent him money on several occasions without issues but this last payment I sent say’s it expired. Well, I’m assuming he did not accept it or something but’s that’s very unlikely since I notify him prior to sending the funds. Two weeks later after the payment has expired I have not received a refund. I see the money deducted from my account on 4/30/18 and it’s now 5/17/18 and nothing. I have a failed receipt in Cash App but where are the funds? I have sent numerous emails and nothing. No response other than the canned message that someone will contact me. It’s very frustrating and scary considering I trusted this company with my account information. Stay away at all cost. If you can not contact a live person consider it a big red flag. Now I can do nothing but wait. Be warned!

Do Not Use Cash App – easy to sign up but no way are you going to talk with a live person should you have an issue with the service. I sent money to receiver and receiver unintentionally sent it back. I received a message from Cash app that the money had been refunded. Seven (7) days later the money has not shown up in my bank acct and after 24 hours of trying to get a real live person on the phone, I receive the email below. The FRB Federal Credit Union confirmed that no payment/refund has been received and that my account has been debited the payment cash app claims to have refunded.
Good morning Sender,
I apologize for the confusion and trouble this payment has caused.
I was able to locate the transaction you mentioned, and can confirm it’s been voided. That means the payment was not successfully captured and you were not charged.
It’s important to point out that a voided payment may show as a pending transaction on your bank statement, but will typically drop off within a few business days. We’ve already sent a void notification, and it’s your bank’s responsibility to release any hold on the pending funds.
Also note that a voided payment will appear on your bank statement as having cancelled itself out within the same statement line as the original payment. It will not appear as a refund in another statement line.
I want to make sure these funds are returned to you, so please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help! :)
Best wishes,
Sterling,
Cash Support

The Cash App is a bait and switch disaster. A friend wanted to pay me via the Cash App, so I downloaded the app and set up an account, but I am unable to get the money downloaded to my bank. I’m not clear why, but, as they offer no help that money is stuck in the ether and I cannot access it. I have tried to get help from them and they do not respond, I get generic “thank you for your message! We’ll get back to you shortly”. I then tried Facebook DM-ing them, that got the same exact response. There are no phone numbers for human help.. I have actually reported them today to Texas Department of Banking. They are a solid F.

This app is terrible especially when your account is hacked and you provide them with all the information and there’s no one talk to only email. It is a terrible way to communicate when your dealing with people money!!! PLUS THEY ALSO REFUSE TO HELP ME GET MY MONEY BACK!

This is the absolute ridiculous business ever!! I have tried to contact a customer service rep to find out where some money went and there is no way to speak to a live person. I need to find out some information and nobody with cash app seems to care about customer service! I want to be notified immediately, having to go to another site for a code to speak to someone is totally stupid. They want people to use their app they should make it convenient to speak to someone if an issue arises!!! I would not recommend this Cash app to ANYONE!!!

Been using the app to purchase bitcoin for my business. We use it as rewards for our users. They say they sent $250 in bitcoin to our bitcoin address but it never showed up. Further, the withdraw button disappeared from my app. They took the money out of our account 2 days ago. No response from support except a robo response saying thjey received my message and will be helping me soon. I had to call the bank to dispute the charge. I have a feeling they will ban our account as a result. Thankfully, there are other options out there. STAY FAR AWAY from this app.

I really like this cash app till today when my bank close my account due to 6 fraudulent charges totaling $466. I have deleted the app and inform my contacts to do so as well.
ns
what a crap app. You add debit card, your bank account , you login to bank account which now they know your banking user name and password and then it hangs and holds your money forever. dont USE it otherwise you will loose your money. No customer service phone no. only way to communicate is via email which is so frustrating.

I attempt to send a transaction April 1, 2018 to my son. After going through the process and submitting it, I was notified that the transaction was complete and sent to someone I don’t know!!!! Conctact my bank as well as Square Cash Customer Service. I was informed by the bank that since I agreed to the terms of the app and payment, there’s not much they can do. Square Cash Customer Service apologized and that was it!! Horrible experience.

I sent money to my daughter who desperately needed it. In Five days they still could not help me I had to contact my bank file a dispute and get my money back. Thank GOD for CHASE because any other bank would not have helped me. DO NOT use this company.
Not only was my daughter in need of the cash she was in another state and she is under age traveling with other family. She needed to pay for her room rental and her food. The showed no concern for her well being as a human or as my child. I am so angry with this disgusting company. They will only email you and give you the run around. With no concern for your funds. DO NOT USE

I suppose to receive a transaction from my fiance of 110.00 dollars and they were suppose to refund the sender (my fiance). They have been withholding the funds and hasn’t refunded it to the bank institution it came from…you email them but they don’t respond immediately. They pass you off. It’s 110.00 dollars that isn’t theirs. I will place a law suit if they don’t comply. This is done through cash app.
Paul S.
thank you for helping me decide to NOT use this app! I see others too having nightmare issues with them. sooo many bad reviews!

Please help me I’m not sure if this app is SQC Visa or app but a company with the acronym tried 15 times to get money out of my sons account succeeding to get $250 which the bank is ireplacing bout I can’t find a number for the company, if succeeded they would have made off with over $2000 dollars but they were doing it in amounts of $50 dollars
Anthony Houston
Hey so could they find out who the money sent too ?
Robin
I made one transaction with this app. My son sent me his half of a phone bill and I had it deposited into my checking account. That was a month ago and today my debit card company called to inform me that there has been 14 charges that have been attempted (just today) by a company called caviar.com. After doing some research, it turns out that CASH app and caviar.com are both owned by SQUARE.
Coincidence……I think not!!!!!!
Theresa Lawson
I’m having the same problem never used the app but there were 15 transactions on my account do you have a contact number

I hate even writing one star that’s how bad this app is. My brother and my mom sent me money and it was my first time using the account. I had a total of $85 in the account but I didn’t attach a bank account to it. When I tried to attach a bank account they had me sign into my bank account via their app. So now they have my bank sign in information. ALL OTHER APPS only require routing and accounting numbers. Which is way more private because theirs no risk of them logging into your bank account. Anyways, I gave them my bank account information anyways and it wouldn’t attach the bank account to the app and wouldn’t let me cash out the $85 into my account. I tried doing it again and again weeks after weeks. Nothing. So I deleted the app and re-downloaded it to log back in, and then all of a sudden the money was gone. Not in my bank account either. Just gone. So I tried emailing them, and it’s been over a week now and shockingly there is no reply… learn from my $85 mistake. DONT GET THIS APP!!!!
Roy L Wren
The customer service is non existing! I have been having issues for 2 weeks now and there has been nothing done. I’ve sent them several emails and phone calls the phone number is nothing more than a voice message. The rating of a D for customer service is way too generous they deserve an F- they are horrible

Friend sent me 150 to pay a bill because I don’t have bank acct. But the app asks for a card number? Wth….if I had an account 8 would be transferred it That way. So I couldn’t get the money had to cancel the transfer and now the money is stuck and being held until Tuesday it’s Friday the bill doesn’t get paid and we’re out $150 for the next 5 days complete b*******
Chastidy
Cash app is a fuckin ripp off they took 1000 dollars last week then but a balance of -397 dollars to cash app I will be getting an attorney and whoever is behind theis is going down.
Fred
One of the worst money transfer places around. Can’t get it to allow tenants to pay rent. No one to call for help. They contact you by email, but never provide you reasons why funds send are canceled other than it was a security issue and they do not fix the problem.
Anthony
Complete rip off!!!!! any company that doesn’t have a number only response through email run and run fast from this app! Yeah ripped me off for my money !!!!!! There none responsive to emails
Not putting my name publicly
Been using my cash account (legitimate registered business with an EIN and my SSN verified from sign up) for nearly 2 years now. I’d absolutely never had an issue. Funds were always instantly available, and I’ve used the same bank and debit card since October 2016. Suddenly, after disputing transactions which occurred in my home town while I was out of town (and made transactions using my card while out of town), not only did they refuse my dispute of transactions which would have been physically impossible for me to have done, they also cancelled my account without so much as informing me it had occurred. I had even used my account since the dispute was denied it wasn’t until I needed to acces my pay which had deposited into my bank account which I can’t find my debit card for that I received an email stating I’d had my account closed for high risk activity following my inquiry as to why I was unable to load my card.
This also happened to a friend of mine. I thought there obviously had to be more to the story since I really wouldn’t put it past him or his boyfriend to legitimately violate the terms of service (not someone I really associate with, just a childhood friend of my fiance’s who we help from time to time). He had told me that mysteriously anyone who he would send or receive payments from were also having their accounts closed without them having had any prior issues with their accounts.
Avoid at all costs

I am not an SQC user, nor have I had any transactions with SQC users, but my December 2017 bank statement shows a $9.90 deposit and a $10.00 withdrawal listed as SQC*Square Cash. I have no knowledge of these transactions. Where can I go to dispute these transactions?
Tamearle Mayberry
I have used this app for some time now and up until now it has been going great. I was due a refund that I never received. I kept getting emailed by some person because they of course have no numbers to dial. I am so frustrated because I am supposed to be getting my funds and the man is telling me that I need to look for the money. If the refund was sent why couldn’t he show the same proof he’s asking me for. This is very unprofessional
Nichole Sabin
I am having this a very similar issue as well. They keep telling me that money was refunded but can not show me proof of the transaction. They told me that a gas purchase of $50 on 11/2/2018 was taken from account and put hold and then voided and was supposedly refunded back to me on 11/18/2018, which I show no record of and they are not able to provide proof of. On 1/8/2018, 2 months later I was given a negative balance and could not figure out why or where it came from. When I emailed them to ask about this they said the merchant where I purchased gas decided to complete the transaction from 11/2/18 that had been put on hold and voided and that I owed the merchant that money. They swore to me that money had been refunded back into my account in November, but I show no transaction of it and they could not provide proof either. I still have not resolved this issue with them. I had to ask 3 different times during our emails back and forth for the representative to show me proof that the money was returned. He eventually sent me a very small screenshot of my transaction from 11/2(which I could hardly read), the transaction being voided on 11/18(which is when he says the money was returned to my account. Although my balance never reflected this), and then the transaction of the $50 being taken from my account 1/8/18, making it negative. After stating that I wanted the negative balance removed and the money in my account returned(not even asking for the $50 that they “supposedly” returned to me), he ended the conversation by giving me a link to the website where I could view my daily transactions. Which by the way still does not show $50 going back into my account at any time.

NEVER USE THIS APP. My husband transferred $450 to my account from his account. The money is supposed to be deposited in 1-3 days. Day #2 rolls around, he calls his bank and the funds have been taken out. I call my bank, but they have no pending deposits. Day #3, I get an email stating the money has been deposited in my account, but they’re not there. We’ve been in contact with people from Square and CashApp but keep getting the same generic responses. Doesn’t look like this will ever get resolved and bills won’t get paid this month. Thanks CashApp! Currently looking for an attorney to handle this.
Seth McBride
I would not recommend square cash this no contact numbers no office no address and if something goes wrong there’s only a computer app that’s responsible and you only gave next-day service to wire money when I want same-day service with no problems
Jasmine
DO NOT USE CASH APP!!!!!!!
I am writing this because I’ve been going through a tedious money process with this company. I cashed out 375.00 on November 12th 2017 at 11:54 am and used the next day method with a charge of $3.75. My bank never received the funds. Within that week I started trying to get in touch with Cash App to redeem the situation and retrieve my money. I didn’t receive a response from Cash App until November 23, 2017 after sending in numerous support request. Coincidence, that they decided to contact me so close to the holiday? I think not. To add, it was a reply stating “ We have received your message, and a member of our dedicated Support team will be with you as soon as possible.” With a reference number attached. I did more research and was able to find a phone number, but the number was for the Square Card reader. I was able to speak to someone and find out some affiliation. The operator said he would deliver my message/complaint. November 29, 2017 I sent an email response and Greg responded apologizing for the time delay an hour and a half later that I needed proof of this matter and how to send it to Cash App. That same day I acquired paperwork from my bank and sent it directly to Cash App, over ten times. My bank manager even wrote her information down personally for Cash App to call on the back of the document. November 30,2017 Greg responded that he received my document and would be in contact. I also received another email from Cassidy of Cash Support and she didn’t even address me by the right name to begin, it seemed as if she never had a positive intention on really recovering my funds. Please note after I sent in so many support request, I was looking for anyone of Cash App support team response and I did email more than one support individual, which I recommend. December 1,2017 Cassidy, who is still addressing me by the wrong name at this point accuses me of writing my Bank Managers personal info. on my document,(which made them invaluable) and then had the nerve to make a statement which was too long to write on why my bank should’ve still received the funds even if they were closed, and pretty much to bad, Happy Holidays. I was appalled and yes I did respond, and yes I have proof of the emails if you don’t believe me. The same day, December 1,2017 I got a response from Ryder (Head of Cash Support) he began where Greg left off in my email; he stated “They needed better documentation from a branch manager or supervisor of my bank.” Between the two, I went with Ryder’s word and asked what was needed of the documents specificity so this isn’t continually dragged on because its having an effect on me as a single parent of three. Ryder was also courteous enough to respond back four days later on banking partnerships and the info specifics so I can retrieve. December 12,2017 I responded with a bank business card from my banking manager and was hoping to retrieve documentation, but my bank didn’t come through. My manager responded with they’re too busy and she’ll send to my email by Thursday. Thursday came and went. Friday I arranged a ride to my bank, got my documentation and sent it to Cash App on December 15. I have not heard anything from Greg or Ryder so I decided to email Cassidy December 20,2017 and I bet you can guess what the response was. “Thanks for your reply, its been more than 2 weeks since we last heard from you, so we closed this case.” Yes, I’m devastated I have to start my case all over!!!! I do not recommend this app to anyone unless it’s going straight to your bank on an open day. Cash App hasn’t even called my bank to address any allegations, or figure out a solution, they have poor communication skills and they treated me like I stole my own money. FYI there is no receipt on your end on how many times you’ve communicated with these people. I have screenshots and emails and just want my funds I worked hard for. I’m a single mom of three, the breadwinner of my family, and my money goes in all directions, being held up on this has caused me to lose my home and car; barely have a holiday for my children if anyone can help ill b very grateful whether it’s a dollar or two and I pray this happens to no one else. BTW the only thing that has been refunded to me was my processing fee of $3.75. Even if anyone has any lawyer recommendations, the money may seem small to you but to my family in our situation, it was helping keep us on our feet. i just started if you can help thank you if not, thank you for reading
Makayla Sumler
I am having the same problem have you gotten any money back

I have had countless problems with this app and it’s ease of use. Intitially linking a card is difficult. Why is it you can’t send money solely with bank info? Why are they constantly blocking cards? I took an existing debit card off and got a new one all for square to refund $1200 that i authorized “for security reasons” and that can’t be refunded until Tuesday (its Thursday currently and im out of town and it’s the holidays). Pissed can’t describe what I’m feeling. I will never use this app again. Venmo all day long!

I have a Square account that I’ve had for some years and downloaded the Cash App this year. I had them set up on two totally different banks. The Square on a credit union account and the Cash App on a debit card from a bank. Somewhere along the line, they got combined so when I deposited money to what was supposed to be my bank card, it got deposited into my credit union account, causing an overdraft. Square Cash App would NOT even investigate to see if there was any error on their part….they kept saying it was on me and to contact the bank since that’s where the ISF fee came from. Of course the bank would charge me for that but it was completely due to an error made by Square Cash App. It got to a point that they would not even respond to my emails. I think it is deplorable the way this was handled. I never did get any type of compensation from Square Cash App for the error!
Gwen Cordero
I Sold someone something, they paid on sq cash almost 30 days about 22 days, later i see overdraft in account. Someone requested their money back but it say in policy payments cant be canceled because done automatically. My fucking ass. I got robbed and Sq cash allowed it even though policy says other. It was a good app, until this. Fucking liars and almost 30 days, get y’all business together fucking ass holes almost took them a month to get back to me with some other b.s
Monty
Hello, same situation just happened to me, exactly the same. did you managed to get your money back?
Mathew
DO NOT USE.
My son wanted to send me money. He told me to download this app. The app has the money, but won’t transfer into my account. There’s always some problem with “unexpected response from server” or “unexpected response from bank.”
It looks like they have the money and it’s not going anywhere.
J. Ashlee
I don’t usually write reviews but I literally had to write about this company. I have been trying to get in contact with them for nearly a week and still have yet to get a response. It’s ridiculous that there is no one to help with problems. The only means of communication is through email and they do not respond. This is an app regarding indivuals’ money and there is no time to play with that. I’m so upset about my experience and I recommend to not use this company because if an issue does arise with your account, you’ll just be out of luck.
Ann
DO NOT DO THIS…..OMG…..I listed my car on car.com. I received an email from a gentleman asking for more photos. I received a response after sending more photos, asking me verbatim what was said to Mario in November. DO NOT DO THIS….I had a funny feeling and decided to ask Google how safe this app is…..THANK YOU GOD.
Guys name is Michael Haas
Zoie Roland
I received 90.00 and it was pending in my bank account, and now it’s disappeared. I called my bank and they told me to contact square cash so I emailed them and they said I deposited the money out of my bank account to my square cash account which I never did, and it shows no activity of it in my app. I send them a screen shot and they send me an email saying they will get back to me in 3-5 business days. I will never use this app again
Whitney Vejvoda
Don’t ever use Square Cash. Don’t do it. There will randomly be “problems” with payments that you need, and there is literally no one to help you. You’ll go around in circles. It is maddening.
Save yourself the high blood pressure. Use any other app.
Emily Clemente
The worse app ever. Do not use. People can steal your money and Cash App will do nothing about it
Bee
i have been with Square Cash for some years. At first i didnt use it as much, but lately i have been, as well as inviting others to test out Square Cash. Now, square cash will not let me sign in, due to ‘unusual activity’. When i emailed them (more than once) i still haven’t received a response!! I dont think i’ll be inviting anymore people

NO help with app. and concerns. After 3 days of e-mails with “buyer”, was asked to transfer MY cash into a “transport” business. Fortunately, I wasn’t foolish enough to do that. Tried to notify Square
Cash of this con-artist to no avail. His “name” is James Hester. I had a car listed at Cars.com Seller Beware! I deleted the app. and will NEVER use this service again!
Joy
I just had an email from James Hester saying he wanted to buy my car for his wife but out of town on business. I had advertised on car.com. And wants me to open a cash.me account for him to transfer money and then he will have his mover come pick it up and do paperwork on his behalf. I’m very reluctant. Can you tell me what your experience with him was?
Mario

I’m glad you posted this. I also have a car listed at cars.com, and I was contacted by James Hester as well. I was suspicious of his purchase methods, and I won’t be using this service to sell him the car!

Horrible!! Use with your own discretion. I transferred money to the wrong person, I lost 800 dollars and their was nothing cash app could do and my bank couldn’t do anything because it’s a 3rd party app. Never again. Ever
Holly B
Yeah. “Safe”! Ha! My money would have been safer on the ground in front of the welfare office. Had a $100 fraudulent charge on my card. Noticed right away. Sent support requests every day for 4 days and finally wrote a negative review in the App Store. Magically, I got a response that same day! Then never again. Nothing was ever accomplished besides my growing frustration and irritation levels. The ONE person who responded saying he would help me in 24 hours, yeah…his box is closed. I was able to send one more email reminding him before it did. These people are crooks, they’re lazy and I’ve just never met anyone who cares less. And I do not have higher education. So, I’ve been working a lot of crap jobs for a lot of crap years. These people take the cake. The turnaround time for support is a week. Something that would have been nice to know at any point other than after they took my money. This is not a financial institution. It’s a joke. If you hate keeping your money, love sending unanswered support requests and just all around feel like going someone else’s job for free, you have found the company of your dreams.
Kenya Smith
No no no!! If you are a business owner do not use SQUARE CASH! Somehow money is “vanishing” and customer support will ask for banking information but will not resolve issue. Automated responses every single time. If you trust this for personal use, give it a tr y I suppose, but never for BUSINESS. As you won’t have any answers once the money is somehow just “missing” currently 1,000 floating out here.. and Square Cash just so happen to not be able to find it
Shelly Ann
Thanks for the heads up.

I am having a similar issue… have been using this app for a while and it’s been working great recently I have been getting emails saying my cash appears is negative however I am not using the card… I will then have to add money to satisfy they negative balance in order to send money out to my children… after this last negative balance (it’s been 3) I reached out to someone who gave me a explanation of two transactions that were put on hold back in November. How is this possible when 1.You can only use the money one the card 2. I have went back over all transactions on the two dates that they gave me and they were paid on that day and 3. How do you explain the 3rd negative balance or the fact that not only did you take my money on those days but I had to satisfy those negatives in order to use the damn card …
Robenson Charles
Ive sent 20$ twice and both didn’t receive the money, now 40$ was withdrawed Frm my account, and I don’t know where my money has gone. Its not in the cash card because they cashed out, and they don’t see it in their banks so I don’t know where my money is but I want it back
Elle Stevens
Cash App is literally just HORRIBLE, I went to publix to get a money order for $500 the card was declined and for some reason and I have the receipt to prove it was declined and but the funds were still taken from my account. Needed that money to pay rent but cash app customer service keeps telling me to talk to publix. Even after showing them the receipt saying the transaction was declined! I’ve spoken to the head of accounting of Publix who stated it is impossible for them to process a transaction without an approval code which they never received from cash app. Now im facing eviction of my home. I will be filing a claim with BBB asap. They are toying with peoples lives and well being And have the slowest most unreliable customer service
Kenya
Currently having the same issue. I submitted a news tip; and media has contacted me. Also, Me and the other party involved has submitted to the BBB. I think you should, too. If you post on the Square website, they have your posts removed within minutes.

ok so im writing a negative on cash app today because im very disappointed in their help.
a friend told me about this app and at the beginning i thought it was pretty cool and i started using it often. my first disappointment started when my wife used the card to pump gas at a kroger gas station; she pumped 20 dollars and the card charged the balance 125. I contacted kroger about it and they told me that it was just a preauthorization thing and the difference should go back within 10 days. i messaged cash app and they didnt help me and the money never went back!!
then last week i had a balance in the app and a friend borrow 340 dollars from me and the amount came out of my cash app balance but it also came out of my bank account. and i emailed cash app and they are not helping me with it. theyre saying it only came out once out of my bank account because i didnt have enough balance which is not true. im just gonna wait to see what my bank says after the dispute and ill be canceling the app. i do not recommend it!!!
Kathy
How did the dispute procedure work?

I paid for a hotel reservation with my Square Cash Card on 10/19/17 and canceled it less than 5 minutes later. The hotel manager said that she could cancel the transaction, and I would get my money back immediately — no hold or waiting time. It is now 10 days later, and there is still no money on my Cash Card. The hotel has said repeatedly that they do not have the money, and there is no hold on it. They referred me to my “bank.” I have emailed Square Cash more than once, and the responses have been slow and have provided no help. They just refer me back to the hotel. The hotel manager has offered to talk with Square Cash and get everything straightened out, but Square Cash won’t do that. The hotel provided me a release number and an email verifying that they do not have my money and are not going to take any of my money. I sent that information to Square Cash, and several days later I received a reply email from Square Cash saying they couldn’t see any information from the hotel in my email. They said to send it again (the info from the hotel is right there in my email, as well as in the reply they sent me) and they will “escalate it to the appropriate team.” Does anyone know who to contact about this seemingly illegal behavior from Square Cash? Is there an agency that handles complaints like this?

I am dealing with the EXACT same thing! I booked on 06/14/2019 and it is now 06/26/2019. This is ridiculous! I will never book another hotel with my CashCard ever. There has to be an easier process for getting my money back. Did your issue get resolved? Did you take any additional steps?

Basically cash app is a fraud, I’ve been trying to get a hold of them for days and telling them I’ve been hacked and someone took my money from my bank and so I made a new account and called my bank to cancel my debit card cause my money been pulled out, so they emailed me saying they will cancel my account and I can’t use it anyone, geez thank you for trying to explain what happened, go ahead and cancel my account, I’ll get my money back any ways, we will see how many people I can tell this, I have emails to prove it,
Kathy
How did you receive your money back? I’m in the same boat. I just contacted BOA

We were getting to send someone $140. My husband made a square cash account, put $200 in it. They were supposed to take $140 out of the 200 and send it. Instead, they sent the 200 to someone else, and then took $140 more out of our bank and sent it to the right person. They told my bank that my husband sent the $200 from his sc account to his sc account. But we have receipts and emails that say different.
Sonny
Hey they took my money too and cancel my account
Martine
They took$300.00 out of my account they said I sent it to my daughter which I ne’er did my daughters bank never received it and my account was never credited. The worst company ever.
Keith
Was using for the last few years. All of a sudden could not send or receive money. Sent email to their support and got a generic response 7 days later saying they deactivated my account for no reason. Thank God I didn’t have money in my account. Beware of this a app.
Sonny
They did this to me, I had money and they deactivated my account, fraud

CashApp is horrible and worst service. Please don prefer this app.I have transferred money to my friend account, He got message saying money received but he couldn’t able to cashout nor he is not able to refund.
We have reached customer care but there is no response from there.
Worst service & worst app. They are doing all frauds with people money.
Huleo Evans
The Cash App is bad and customer support is worse. they have the competence of a 5th grader. The solution is for them to block your payment processing and/ or refund your clients instead of helping you. They are not the worst but definitely one of the worst. Do not use as a primary method of payment for personal use and definitely not for business
Linda Garcia
These people suck and have no way of contacting them. I needed to send money to someone who is struggling and they said they will get back to me in three business days I will not every use them again.

No way to speak to customer service other than though email. Tried to get a refund after reporting a fraudulent account and spent a month jumping through hoops. My bank even said that Square Cash wouldn’t work with them to rectify the situation. I had to open 2 claims and the second “support” person stopped responding to me after 1 day. I finally filed a BBB complaint and *poof!* response from the same person, saying I’m getting my refund.
Kathy
I’m in the same boat with a few random charges? What did the bank say or should I just go straight to the BBB
Tiarra
How do you file a bbb complaint? I’m currently going through the same thing

NEVER use Square Cash app to pay for goods from someone you don’t know. Unlike PayPal and others, Square will not reverse the transaction if the other person does not deliver the product. They just say, “you authorized the payment” and you’re done. I have deleted this app and will NEVER use it again.
Elizabeth C.
I knew better, but did it for the convenience. From now on, it’s only PayPal for me.
Yvonne wuamett
Was sent $170 entered debit card # sent it + entered bank account . Nothing came Repeated attempts to contact Square Cash failed was given a customer # spoke with someone who said it was a different department and he would forward my inquiry, nothing sent now I can’t get a customer # I’m directed to support on the website this is really shocking.
This company needs to be investigated ,many many reviews accusing them of appalling customer service and theft and interestingly enough the text I got from my son saying he sent me the money has disappeared.

DON’T UES CASH APP!!! Look what happened to my daughter! On June 22,2017 I contacted Square Cash to inform you that I mistakenly sent the wrong person $350. At that time I was informed by Square Cash that I needed to speak to my bank. My bank filed a dispute and refunded the $350 back to my account. Now three months later my bank is telling me that Square Cash is disputing this transaction and has taken $350 of my money for this person I do not know! On my birthday week! I’m a college student and all of my birthday money was taken out of my account by Square Cash App
After sending multiple emails and attempting to call Square Cash several times on a number and code system that doesn’t work at all, money was taken out of my account again! I honestly would just like my money back! This issue needs to be resolved ASAP!
It was also said that services were provided, but I had no such services, nor has this person ever contacted me – even after I had attempted to contact her several times in order to explain my situation then when I attempted to get my money back in June.
I’ve filed a dispute with my bank. I’ve made several attempts to no avail to call your customer help line and use a code system that doesn’t work! If this matter can not be resolved with in the next 24 hours. I will have no other choice but to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Your customer service is deplorable! How can you handle people’s money and not even has the decency to speak to them?!? This has been a great inconvenience to say the least. I will continue to post this message all over social media until I get my money back! #fraud #thief #dishonest #steeling #steel #justice #neveragain #discusting #ripoff #ripoffs #discustingcompany #scammer #scam #scammers

Completely agree. Square is a terrible app with no safety mechanisms to protect you. Use PayPal.
Landerson
I agree with everything you said regarding this company. Their entire customer service system appears to be a fraud. I tried to send my daughter $250 and it failed. Via the app the company said the money was refunded but IT HASN’T! No customer code, no response to emails, no phone service – it’s a rip off shop!

DO NOT USE THIS APP
My friend is in an emergency situation across the country and we figured Square Cash app would be a quick way (like Venmo or Zelle) for me to send him the cash quick. All went well until he tried to withdraw to his bank account. He selected the “Instant” withdraw option and paid 1% but the transfer has been “pending” for hours now.
I was actually contacted within an hour by Square customer service via email but he said that some transfers subject to review and that we might have to wait until Monday for him to be able to withdraw…it’s freakin’ Saturday. My friend cannot wait that long.
This is theft. NOWHERE did it say beforehand that my friend might not be able to withdraw funds instantly as advertised. Had we know this, we simply would not have used this service.
Jaime
Squart cash SUCKS!!!! They screw you over and respond only by email with no damn real explanation.
April D Hardiek
I would not recommend using the service in an emergency situation. It has been such a hassle that I would not recommend using the service at all if you have another option available. You have to pay with a debit or credit card and they take the money immediately out of your account but then they hold on to it for up to two to three days. It’s ridiculous. The transactions stay pending about everytime I use it now and it doesn’t matter if I’m sending or receiving it. If I’m the sender, the recipient has to wait. if I’m the recipient, i have to wait. This is not the most reliable way to send or receive money, even though they advertise it like it is.
Nina
I will never use this Cash appt they keep wanting more and more information they lost my money There customer service is called Mary no phone number no address I will do my research before I ever do anything like this again beware do not do it …They are SCAMMING YOU…..
Andre
I made the mistake of sending $1000 to the wrong recipient. When I contacted my bank to inform them of my error, they told me there was nothing they could do, and that i should contact Square Cash. I contracted SC and they told me I needed to contact Vantiv bank who is in charge of my debit card. I filed a claim via Vantiv but was denied due to merchant(Square Cash)responsibility. Now I’m being told to seek legal advice and go after that individual legally because SC is saying I was the one who made the mistake. The unintended recipient refused to return my $1000. I deleted this app immediately!

The Cash App is not safe at all!
My account has been hacked and all my bank information is being tampered with. I’ve been trying to contact support and there is no phone number to assist me.
Kathy
Same issue here. Did the bank help?
Robert Schock
Square cash is currently offering a $5 referral for signing up through a referral. Both parties included in the referral receives $5. Square cash does not honor their promotion. Customer service is slow to respond. As far as sending and receiving money s concerned, this is an awesome app.
Kathy Hynes
I will never use this again. I could not get cash out. After 3 days i asked for refund to client and it will take another 4 days. There is absolutely no customer support other then a generic email. TGE WORST.
Meekz
My account was deactivated for no reason… I reported and my changed my debit card due to a gas pump accident where someone got access to my card by me paying at the pump… so I did the lawful thing and went to my bank for a new card which they were the ones letting me know of the account fraud… so I assumed cash app deemed me a high risk account even with a new card and decided to deactivate my account which is not even my fault… But still I was punished for using a app that I transfer funds to family n friends because we live in different states all legit fund never anything that cost the app any problems… So I rate this way because it is the worst thing u can do to a person who is completely innocent and a victim but still take away like enough hasn’t already been taken just isn’t fair…
Willard Dulanya
This is a sorry app. Their supposedly support center is a joke. A family member sent me money, unfortunately the transaction was duplicated. I cancelled the second payment but the system drafted money out of the payor’s account. To this day, (5 months later and still counting) they have not refunded the extra funds that were drafted.
carlos jimenez
lost $1400 cause square refund the money to customer and the money was not received by the customer so square keep it please be aware this people are fraud and they don’t respond to any claims they told me they don’t have customer service
Monika Truesdale
i never recieved my card everytime i call the support number it sends you to voicemail i even emailed them 2 times i ordered my card on july 3 2017 and got comformation it was on its way it is now about to be a whole month and still no card
Matthew Brennan
Square Cash are crooks, they deducted $40 from my account with no authorization from me, when i tried to call them for support they said i am not eligible for call support, so i emailed them and they pretty much are just giving me the run around and not refunding my money.
What a joke this company is.
Kaye
They have taken money from me too we all need to get together and find a way to bring this company down
Debra
If I find out this is a scam as a matter of fact I’m getting in touch with the better business bureau ASAP. My son haven’t received his money yet and everything has to be done on line. No legit phone number what kind of mess it that then they send you a code that’s not valid. So that mean that someone is doing something.
Naomi Diaz
They took $40.00 from my acct. yesterday and I have no idea how…I used my card at a Goodwill store and no where else..wth?? It was sent to someone (I have the name) in California..I need it back….$40.00 may not seem like much to some, but that was grocery money for us.

DO NOT USE THIS APP.
I will never use this lousy app service again. I was skeptical using this app after reading the reviews and I should have listened to my gut. It has been 4 business days & I still have not received my $90.20. I emailed customer support on business day 1 & was told that it would take 1-3 business days… I feel lied to & robbed.
Venmo is much quicker & they don’t charge you a point less 1% charge to instantly deposit your money.
Amanda Mumford
I am missing $400 that was deposited into my account. There has been no response after 1 week from support.
Chipfromct
Avoid! Plenty of other alternatives
Very poor for purchases if there are problems with the seller or goods.
No way to trace or recover funds. Their response? “Contact your bank”. They provide zero support or recovery.
No phone number to call.
If anything goes wrong, like a wrong email address, you’re out of options. With so many other alternatives, you can find better, more secure apps.
Shirley Dunbar
I used this app to send my daughter money. The money left my back and never reached her account. There was no contact phone number. We checked both banks. My money just disappeared. How did it leave my account and just disappear into thin air?!
Yvonne wuamett
Same thing happened to me
Carlos V. Rivera
I cannot understand why if I lived in Japan Australia or any other place in the world I can use Square Cash but living in a US territory like Puerto Rico being a US citizen I cannot use this app to pay.
I can use PayPal,Amazon and Mysynchrony toI pay with no problem why is it that we can’t use this app.
Worthless app
