Variable Contract Terms
There isn’t much information available about the standard ExpiTrans contract at this time. The company is partnered with four separate backend processors, and merchants have reported varying details about its contract terms. Some of these details include a three-year agreement with a $400 early termination fee, a $40 monthly minimum fee, and an unidentified $160 monthly fee.
Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Pricing
In addition to its storefront payment processing services, ExpiTrans also dedicates a portion of its website that advertises its virtual terminal and payment gateway services. The company advertises multiple partnerships with gateway providers including Authorize.Net, Cayan, USAePay, and NMI, among others. However, pricing on either of those services is not disclosed. However, Authorize.Net advertises a transaction rate of 2.90% plus $0.30 as well as a gateway fee of $25 per month and a batch fee of $0.10, all of which may apply to merchants using these services through ExpiTrans. Additional rates and fees, including technical support fees, may apply to these e-commerce services.
It is likely that these terms and fees will vary from merchant to merchant, but the available evidence suggests that ExpiTrans’s pricing does not compete with the cheapest merchant accounts. If you have any specific knowledge regarding the standard ExpiTrans merchant agreement (including any early termination fees, PCI compliance fees, monthly minimum fees, or other costs), please share that information in the comment section of this review.Are you happy with your ExpiTrans fees? ExpiTrans Complaints & Customer Reviews
|Total Online Complaints||10+|
|Live Customer Support||Yes|
|Most Common Complaint||N/A|
Low Complaint Total
There are about 20 negative ExpiTrans reviews to be found online, a few of which accuses the company of being a scam and a ripoff. Some complaints were filed on WebHostingTalk.com, with one posted originally in 2006 and another posted in 2013. The 2006 complaint and its ensuing comment thread cite poor customer service and delayed payouts from ExpiTrans, while the 2013 complaint was filed regarding problems with an international processing account created by an independent agent of ExpiTrans. An ExpiTrans representative has informed us that neither complainant was a direct merchant of ExpiTrans. In the comment section below this review and on other websites, further complaints describe a chaotic work environment at the company, deceptive sales tactics, billing errors, and poor customer service.
We have not found any outstanding class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints filed against ExpiTrans. Dissatisfied merchants who wish to pursue a non-litigious course of action against the company should consider reporting it to the relevant supervisory organizations.
ExpiTrans Customer Support Options
ExpiTrans offers live chat and a very limited help center on its website. These options do not meet our expectations of the top-rated payment processors for great customer service, but ExpiTrans appears to have avoided the high complaint rate we would predict.
ExpiTrans BBB Rating Summary
Key Points - BBB
|Product & Service Complaints||1|
|Billing & Collection Complaints||2|
|Advertising & Sales Complaints||0|
|Guarantee & Warranty Complaints||0|
Under 5 Complaints
ExpiTrans currently has a “C+” rating with the Better Business Bureau and is not accredited. The company is showing 3 complaints in the last 36 months. 2 complaints were left regarding billing or collections issues and 1 was in respect to a problem with a product or service. ExpiTrans answered 2 of the complaints, though they didn’t receive a response from the complainant. However, the 1 remaining complaint was not answered by the company.
What Merchants Say
ExpiTrans has also received 5 informal reviews to its BBB profile. Only 1 of those reviews is positive, meaning the remaining 4 are negative in tone. The most recent negative review accuses the company of fraud:
CRIMINALS! If I could rate 0 stars, then I would. They lied the entire time I was setting up service with them, didn’t actually know what they were doing, and then charged me for services that I didn’t sign up for! Then I had one small chargeback, and they held the entire batch for that day in addition to bouncing the small charge back, so I am out money. And now they are saying they will not release the funds for 6 months! Liars and criminals. I went back to my old company, Global Banking, and have had no problems. Please don’t do what I did and get caught up in their scam!!!
Merchants in a situation similar to this should research how to effectively dispute chargebacks on their account that they deem to be erroneous or unauthorized.
A “B” Performance
In light of these figures, we agree with the BBB’s rating.
Truth In Marketing & Advertising
|Employs Independent Resellers||Yes|
|Advertises Deceptive Rates||No|
|Discloses All Important Terms||No|
Outside Sales Team
ExpiTrans appears to market itself primarily through sub-ISOs, independent sales agents, and referral partners. As a general rule, the use of independent sales agents is commonly linked to elevated complaint rates in the credit card processing industry. We have found a few ExpiTrans negative reviews that describe unethical or unprofessional conduct by the company’s sales team. One complaint (found in the comment section below) claims that the company intentionally leads merchants to believe that they are the merchants’ current processor and that sales reps forge documents. While this is an extremely serious accusation, it is the only one of its kind and appears to be an outlier.
No Deceptive Quotes
As a point in its favor, ExpiTrans does not list misleading rate quotes in its official materials. However, it has received enough complaints about its sales team to lower its rating to a “B” in this section. If you suspect that an ExpiTrans representative misrepresented your pricing, you can double-check them with a third-party statement audit.

Why I'm Qualified to Write About Credit Card Processing and Merchant Account Services
I'm a former credit card processing sales director who left the industry because I didn't like how it takes advantage of small business owners. It feeds like a leech on businesses and thrives by imposing fees that are nearly impossible to comprehend. Seeing a need for change, I left and built this website help business owners better understand the industry, research merchant services providers, and get refunds of excessive merchant account fees. My experience of working "behind the curtain" in the industry, and using that knowledge for good, has resulted in millions of dollars returned to hard-working small business owners as well as enterprise-level companies.
From the time that I starting working in the merchant services industry to when I left to create this website, I've been on the pulse of payments for nearly 15 years. It didn't seem fair to keep this "insider" knowledge to myself. To lift the fog, I've reviewed hundreds of companies, read thousands of user reviews, and learned the pricing tricks of every provider. If you have questions about credit card processing, you can find the answers on this website.
