Additionally, the article provides a critical assessment of Velocity's customer support and online ratings, highlighted by real customer experiences and employee perspectives. This exploration aims to offer a well-rounded view of Velocity, LLC, equipping readers with essential information to navigate the complexities of merchant services and marketing firms in the modern business landscape.

About Velocity LLC

Also known as Velocity Marketing Partners, Velocity, LLC was founded in 1999 as a merchant account provider that serves most standard-risk business types. There are reports connecting Velocity, Todd McCartney, or a related holding company, “T-Money Holdings,” to the following companies:

Additionally, according to a complaint on our Payment Systems Corporation review, Smart Choice Payments, First Choice Payments, and North American Processing Solutions may be subsidiaries or related to Payment Systems Corporation, which ranks as one of the worst merchant account providers we have ever reviewed.

Todd McCartney has contested his connection or ownership to several of these companies, including North American Processing Solutions, Payment Systems Corporation, and Advantage Media Partners. He also contests a connection to “First American Payment Systems” in an email, though CPO has never alleged that the two are connected. It is difficult to determine the exact nature of some of these relationships; however, we can confirm that Todd McCartney and North American Processing Solutions have been named together in at least one lawsuit. Todd McCartney has also listed alongside various company names in legal disputes.

We can also determine from public sources that North American Processing Solutions shared an address with one of Mr. McCartney's other companies, a Massage Envy franchise. Mr. McCartney claims in the dispute that “we only did customer service for them.” We did find evidence of another business operating under the name of American Payment Systems, LLC, listing Todd McCartney as the president and North American Processing Solutions as an alternative business name. According to online records, American Payment Systems is reported to be under the T-Money Holdings portfolio.

Alternative DBAs

  • American Payment Systems LLC, registered in Las Vegas, lists North American Processing Solutions as an alternative name.
  • A second American Payment Systems LLC, at a different Las Vegas address, lists T-Money Holdings INC as the manager.

Todd McCartney Interview

We were also able to locate a recent interview with Todd McCartney where he talks about some of his business ventures. We formerly linked this interview here, but after we posted it, it disappeared off the internet.

Also a Marketing Firm

Unlike its payment-oriented DBAs, Velocity also presents itself as a web design and online marketing firm—hence its alternate name of Velocity Marketing & Commerce. The company's marketing services are offered alongside its e-commerce merchant accounts, but this should not obscure the fact that Velocity is as much a payment processor as it is a marketing service. Other names that have been reported to be associated with Velocity as a marketing firm in various online merchant complaints include Global Media Solutions, Wholesale Internet Solutions, and Priority Placement Media.

Moderate-to-High Complaint Total

Currently, we’ve identified a substantial number of negative reviews concerning Velocity, totaling more than 30, with some customers even labeling the company as a scam. Moreover, this count doesn’t encompass the additional grievances directed towards affiliated entities like Smart Choice Payments, Wholesale Merchant Processing, First Choice Payments, and North American Processing Solutions, which collectively contribute to an extensive pool of complaints. Complaints directed at Velocity, LLC commonly highlight issues such as undisclosed contract terms, subpar customer service, costly equipment leases, and an overall unprofessional business environment. Given the intertwined nature of these businesses and the recurring themes in customer feedback, we’ll address them collectively without distinction in this overview. We also encourage individuals with their own experiences to share their reviews in the comments section below.

Legal Matters and Customer Support

As of our investigation, there are no ongoing Velocity class-action lawsuits or FTC complaints. Dissatisfied customers seeking alternative avenues for resolution are advised to report their concerns to relevant supervisory organizations.

When it comes to customer support, Velocity, LLC shares a comparable rating with Smart Choice Payments, as there’s little evidence to suggest differentiation between the two entities. The company provides contact details, including phone and email, on its website. However, its track record of complaints raises questions about whether or not it will ever qualify among the best merchant account providers for customer service.

Other Support Options

In summary, while Velocity and its associated entities offer avenues for customer support, the significant volume of complaints underscores areas for improvement in transparency, service quality, and professionalism. It’s essential for potential customers to weigh these factors carefully before engaging with the company.

Negative Feedback

These scumbags are trying to get me to pay a bill that I have absolutely nothing to do with. They hire a collection company with zero evidence or even bother to confirm that they have the right person. Looks like they have a lot of fake reviews. Shady company!! – Review from 10/19/2023 by John

I have had a contract with Velocity LLC since October 31st, 2019. It is now May 25th, 2021, and it has still not been resolved. I have 40 pages of excuses and have sent them to Heather and Selena, but they blocked my phone calls and my emails. Terrible company, all of them were very nice as long as they were getting money from me, but after two years I demanded results and they cut me off. – Review from 05/24/2021 by David

Positive Feedback

We switched several months ago and have been very happy with the service and support when we need help! The onboarding was great and it’s been so much easier than our previous provider. Plus we are saving over $1000 per month! – Review from 07/06/2023 by Beth

Velocity Business Solutions should be your go-to merchant processing company. They have very competitive rates and their support is over and above the norm. I highly recommend Velocity Business Solutions and Velocity LLC. They worked with me without hesitation and made everything right for me during COVID when I had to close my business. – Review from 10/25/2022 by William

Velocity, LLC Fees, Rates & Costs

A Closer Look at The Contract

Cost & Fees Summary
Processing Rates Variable
Monthly & Annual Fees Yes
Cancellation Penalties Yes
Equipment Leasing Yes

Extended Contract Obligations

Merchant feedback suggests that Velocity’s payment processing contract closely mirrors that of Smart Choice Payments. The Smart Choice Payments Merchant Application and Program Guide outline a three-year agreement accompanied by an early termination fee of $495, a monthly PCI compliance fee of $4.95, a $25 monthly minimum fee, a $10 monthly statement fee, and an obligatory four-year equipment lease through Northern Leasing Systems.

Moreover, there’s a reported additional early termination fee of $900 upon cancellation, reminiscent of a similar charge by Wholesale Merchant Processing. However, the reason behind this fee under either name remains unclear.

Virtual Terminal and Payment Gateway Costs

Velocity, LLC, leverages the Smart Choice Payments merchant application, which integrates a virtual terminal and payment gateway via Payeezy, powered by First Data (Fiserv). Payeezy offers two plans: the Basic Plan and Pro Plan. Neither imposes setup, statement, or gateway fees. The Basic Plan entails a rate of 2.90% plus $0.30, while the Pro Plan offers a lower rate of 1.89% plus $0.23 alongside a $19.95 monthly fee.

Caution Regarding Lengthy Leases

Velocity’s contract terms surpass industry norms in terms of expense, potentially warranting a rating no higher than “C” on their own. However, two additional factors contribute to lowering the company’s rating to an “F” in this category. Firstly, agents frequently bundle processing agreements with extended equipment leases through Northern Leasing Systems, infamous for their non-cancellable four-year leases charging thousands for equipment purchasable under $500. Secondly, recurrent complaints about undisclosed contract terms suggest that many businesses enroll without awareness of these fees, exacerbating the impact of the contract’s duration and fee structure on unsuspecting entrepreneurs.

Above-Average Expenses

Velocity’s contract terms appear subpar overall, with pricing falling far from competitive with the cheapest merchant accounts available. For merchants seeking better alternatives, we recommend exploring our list of the best merchant accounts.

Velocity, LLC Employee Reviews & Sales Tacitcs

Should You Work For Them?

Jobs & Marketing Summary
Uses Independent Resellers Yes
Telemarketing Yes
Misleading Marketing No
Discloses All Important Terms No

Sales Complaints

Like Smart Choice Payments, Velocity appears to sell its products and services through a combination of telemarketing and independently contracted sales agents. We have found a number of Velocity, LLC reviews that cite nondisclosure of contract terms, undelivered goods, and difficulty contacting sales agents after the contract was signed. A number of complaints from former and current employees also describe a “hiring mill” type of environment. This does not compare favorably to our list of best credit card processors.

A New Type of Complaint

Velocity’s payment processing complaints generally mirror those filed against Smart Choice Payments, and some Smart Choice complaints also mention Velocity as though they are the same company. However, Velocity has also generated a growing number of complaints related to its marketing services. In particular, the company appears to offer clients the ability to advertise on hotel room keycard envelopes. Many business owners state that they never received any proof that these advertisements were created or circulated. Although this does not relate to payment processing, it is a fairly damning trend for a company that promotes itself as both a credit card processor and marketing service.

Some Red Flags

Taking into account the complaints filed against both Velocity and its various DBAs, we have assigned the company a “D” in this section. If you suspect that Velocity is charging you undisclosed fees, we recommend seeking a third-party statement audit to find and eliminate hidden costs.

Our Velocity, LLC Review Summary

Our Final Thoughts

Velocity ranks as a substandard credit card processing services provider, much like its various other aliases. A change in name has done little to enhance the quality of the company’s services, and the addition of marketing offerings has only led to increased complaints from merchants. It’s essential to note that Velocity, LLC, is distinct from Velocity Merchant Services, a separate payment processor, to avoid any confusion between the two.

Businesses contacted by Velocity are strongly advised to request and thoroughly review all documentation before committing to any agreements. Comparing their terms and pricing against those of top-rated, all-purpose payment processors will provide valuable insight and help ensure that prospective clients receive transparent terms and the most competitive deal available.

Location & Ownership

Todd McCartney is listed as the president of Velocity, Wholesale Merchant Processing, Smart Choice Payments, and American Payment Systems. All four companies were formerly listed as headquartered at SW 10250  Greenburg Rd. Ste. 200, Portland, Oregon, and the Better Business Bureau also lists an updated address for Velocity at 9020 SW Washington Square Rd Ste 220, Portland, Oregon. Recently the address on the Velocity website was changed to 1211 1st Avenue N. Suite 302 St. Petersburg, FL. Velocity is a registered ISO/MSP of Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Walnut Creek, California. It should not be confused with Velocity Merchant Services, which is a separate and unrelated payment processor based in Illinois.

I just wanted to put in writing my gratitude towards Todd for today. He took the time to personally call me and help resolve my MASSIVE dilemma and I am very thankful for his understanding, kindness, and overall comforting approach to my uncomfortable situation. I appreciate the call and help from Bradley as well today. They both took time out of their day to resolve my dilemma with my card processing. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart and Merry Christmas.

A lot of these companies that you have me associated with, I have never been a part of and don’t even know who they are, I would love the opportunity to talk with you in more depth as I am sure as a writer you are about the real facts

      Todd ripped me off

Yeah right now Todd is trying to sell a $2 million house for $4 million because he is so f***** financially.. look up the most expensive house in Milwaukie Oregon and that is him trying to sell it for $4 million plus his girlfriend always wants him to buy New body parts for her and reduce her gigantic nose and have Botox surgeries and of course she’s only 22.

      • Todd McCartney

        Velocity LLC

I feel bad for you Lee Alava that you feel the need to lash out, after I blocked you and your negativity. I did not wish to associate with you anymore, after multiple warnings not to make obscene comments, nor your drug use and habitual drinking problem. Like most Americans, my finances were affected by the pandemic because I chose to continue paying all my employees. I will not apologize for always buying a home in low of the market and selling in the height of it. Maybe you should spend some time working and servicing your customers instead of posting bogus reviews and sending me photos of you smoking blunts everyday. My fiancé has never had botox. Her insurance covered her deviated septum surgery. I didn’t know body shaming was still a thing in 2021! How would you feel if someone talked about your daughter like that? Well you probably wouldn’t care seeing as you don’t pay child support, and the only way she can receive money for your child, is if you force her to clean your home.

I know that this is the correct business because I have paperwork with their logo on it do not do business with them this company has 31 complaints look up velocity reviews comparisons and and lawsuits before you do business with them. I have a contract began on October 31st 2019 it is now May 25th of 21 and is still not resolved I have 40 pages of excuses in email form and have sent them to Heather and Solana and nothing has happened they they denied having a contract with me so I sent them 40 pages of emails along with the contract. When I tried to contact them I had found that they had blocked my phone number and my emails the reason why I know that is I used a friend’s phone that is on the same phone system and I could get through just fine with that including the emails they simply just stopped communicating after all the money spent and all the promises I received nothing!

    • Todd McCartney

      Velocity LLC

I am very sorry to hear about the issues you have had with my company, I assure you that we don’t even have the capability of blocking someone on our phone system. That is neither here nor there, I would like the opportunity to satisfy any issues you have with our company, please feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected] and I would like to satisfy your needs sir.

  • Earl Bunnell

VMS just sent me a bill for their services claiming early termination. But have refused to release 2 months of sales that they held, claiming they could not access my account. however during the time they said they could not access my account they withdrew service fees and then when I didn’t get my money I closed my account. I spoke to several people who said they would look into it but nobody ever called me back. Now I am finding out they also did not pay on the lease of my clover station so they are now trying to collect from me too. How they can still be allowed to operate in this manner is amazing. There seems to be no recourse. i would definitely be willing to precipitate in any class action against them

    • Todd McCartney

      Velocity LLC

I am sorry to hear what is going on with your account sir, we do not have the capability of holding you funds, First Data whom controls over 55% of the credit card processing market is in control of these situations, if you have high chargebacks or any charges in question, you must provide them or us the documentation to verify these sales, once that is completed, your money is usually released pretty quickly. Are you sure it was my company that didn’t call you back or First Data risk? Either way, I am here now to help you in anyway that I can. As far as Velocity paying on “your Clover lease”, that is not something we would do. We also would not be collecting on that, but if you shut down your bank account, there may be a collection on your lease, I am not sure how that would be our fault, but am more than willing to discuss it with you, please reach out to me a [email protected]

I received my so called free terminal from Velocity merchants in August 2020 and have yet to receive service for the terminal to this date of January 21,2021. The customer service is very poor and they do not mind taking money from your account without satisfying the contract in which agreed upon. I have a brand new terminal that is 6 months old that i have never used and am getting charged for . They REFUSE to give me the proper address to mail the terminal back to so that i can properly terminate the account .

I would like thank Rob McEahern, Bradley Housman, of Velocity LLC, with the patience and good job I experienced on the credit card legal status. This company does not honor their contracts. They sell advertising on key card holders for hotels but the hotels never give out the key card holders. This is a fraudulent company. Do not give this company your credit card number.

    • Todd McCartney

      Velocity LLC

Lorie, unfortunately, we can not force a hotel to use the key cards, 9 times out of 20 they do. I am sorry if they did not use them. I would like to offer you another hotel that will use them or a full refund of your purchase, please contact me directly to take care of this at [email protected]

  • Renee Berres

this is a shady company. they sell you one thing, but produce another thing once you have paid up front. when I tried to get an explanation via email and phone, the “customer service” rep, and i use that term lightly, Nicole C. (should wouldn’t give me her last name) was very rude and unprofessional and would not budge from her standard practiced reply. My ad buy was not worth it and I will never do business with this company again. AVOID AVOID.

    • Todd McCartney

      Velocity LLC

Renee, we pride ourselves at honoring all of our commitments, please tell me what it was that you purchased and we will either honor it or give you a full refund. If you’d be so kind to provide me with the date and time of your call with Nicole, I will review the call personally, please feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected] to make sure you are 100% satisfied

  • Stacy

Brad was very helpful! He went above and beyond assisting with our problem. He not only was kind, but patient too! He stayed on the line with me when First Data representatives were not helpful. We could not understand what they were saying, the one rep was ignoring my questions and they both hung up with out actually helping me with the problem.
Brad took the time to try a fix the problem for our firm.
We appreciate his time and efforts!

Kamal, I am very pleased that you have allowed us to work with you on resolving this matter. Thank you for having my wife and our friends to dine at your amazing restaurant, the food was spectacular. As we discussed the first lease was not created by us, and we are helping you get the others closed. The sales rep was terminated and we have changed the sales process with outside reps. to ensure this won’t happen again.

Wish I would have looked up this companies reviews before I was stupid enough to sign the worst contract in the world with them. I ignored alot of what was written in the contract under the verbal promise that I will not be held to the terms of the contract. Was told that they will write in the “special instructions” part of the contract all necessary to free me. No start up costs, no cancellation fees, will beat anyones price. Oldest trick in the book!
Please read past page 8 in your contract!!!!!!!!!! That is where the horror begins and right where I stopped reading :< Don't end up like me. I had companies deducting from my bank account at times that I was not prepared. All I can hope 4 now is that I do save money on my monthly processing fees.
What you dont know is that these special instructions only apply to them ( the company that hires people to double talk gullible, unsuspecting business owners) great job Velocity!! Velocity is a place you will never want to hear of again afterwards. Even if you get out of your contract with them it doesn't apply to the company charging you for the equipment! One person signed me up and about 4 different companies are contacting me. Leasing equipment department, processing place, paysafe place. ITS soooo confusing. Worst part is you call to complain about what has happened. You are very happily told why you confused or co fused you are being charged? Every th ing you are comaini g about you signed and agreed to?! Wished I could reach through the phone!! Sonyea, you will be so sad to see how you screwed yourself over by not Rmreading past page 8 in the contract!!!
I'm a joke for trusting Mark Anthony's verbal promises.
